Owlstar was glad she arrived first this time, her clan on her heels and pride in her eyes. Mothstar never would've let her hear the end of it, had she been late twice. It would be with a smug look that she watched his clan enter the clearing. She sat upon the cold dead monsters alone, a silhouette against the silvery moonlight they found themselves in. It was starting to get warmer, and the night was clear and pleasant, with a soft cool breeze that only slightly ruffled her fur. She hummed under her breath, as her gaze flickered over her clanmates below. They were mingling among themselves, and soon the other two clans would arrive and intersperse among her warriors. A glimmer of fire echoed in her heart. How desperately she wanted to pin Mothstar down as soon as she saw him! His warriors had been reckless and abusive, and had killed one of her own in a mere border skirmish! Since then, she's been making sure that her markers were ironclad, lest give the aggressive clan an excuse to try and cross them once again. She was furious with Mothstar and his warriors, but the moon shone down bright with a warning gleam, and she forced herself to calm down. She would be angry when she saw him again, of course, but unfortunately it was a time of truce. She decided instead to go over what other things she had to announce in her mind. A new apprentice, the prey running well, healthy warriors... These were all good things. She would, of course, mention the death of one of their fine warriors. A soft sigh escaped her. Coppertuft, always diving in to protect his clanmates, fighting with the ferocity of a lion and his eyes gleamed with pride of being in their clan.
She wondered again, why Starclan had chosen to accept Mothclan. Mist and Ivy had always been intertwined sisters, and so far Mothclan seemed to be causing nothing but trouble.
The ex-Mistclan warrior shouldn't have been granted the nine lives by Starclan, in her opinion.
But she believed in their warrior ancestors, unlike her predecessor, and had no choice but to follow their will.
Unless their will ended up proving dastardly wrong. Had they merely taken a chance on the new clan? Did they even know what was to happen?
Owlstar lifted her head slightly as the sound of more cats entered the clearing, and she rose her pale yellow gaze to peer at the newcomers. Who was it that had arrived next? Mothclan or Mistclan? She hoped briefly it would be Mistclan, she'd much rather see Bearstar first. And perhaps the logical Mistclan leader being there would prevent her from tearing out Mothstar's throat.
