Daisypetals stood in the healer’s house, tying bundles of herbs together, and hanging them up from any possible point to dry. It was not much, but he was happy to assist te overly burdened Frostfall in any way he could.
“What is that?”
As a voice sounded out behind him, the healer let out a cry of shock, dropping all of his carefully tied bundles. He spun around, jumping into a defensive position that looked somewhere between a block and a scared child. `Okay, it looked more like a scared child.
However, rather than the scary attacker that his mind had conjured up, it was only Silvermist, the gentle and patient friend of Daisypetals, who had entered the room. She looked at him in amusement, glancing from his still-wide eyes to the bunches of leaves that now covered the ground where he stood.
“Oh, um, Silvermist...Hi!” He awkwardly greeted the beautiful lady, before dropping to the floor, hastily snatching up all of the herbs, which had luckily stayed tied despite their fall.
“Here, let me help you with that,” the lady offered, going to her knees.
She reached for the bundles, accidentally brushing Daisypetals’s hand, which caused him to look up suddenly, meeting her eyes. For a moment, he stayed in this crouched position, just looking at her eyes. But of course, after a minute of doing this, his legs began to ache, and he shifted, breaking the prolonged eye contact. In nearly perfect unison, the two warriors stood, herb bundles clutched in their arms. Daisypetals hastily dumped his bundles into a nearby basket, then held it out for Silvermist to do the same.
“So...What...brings you here?” he asked, setting down the basket. “You aren’t hurt, are you?”
The silver-haired warrior quickly shook her head, pretty hair falling gracefully across her eyes.
“No, I am fine, I just...thought I would step in and...see how you were doing..”
Daisypetals watched her, a gentle smile beginning to replace the awkwardness.
“I’m doing well,” he promised, “there is definitely lots of stuff to do around here. Herbs, flowers, leaves, plants… Don’t tell Frostfall I said this, but...she definitely needed someone to clean up all the herbs in here. But I’ve managed to get most of it organised. I realized that by color coding the bundles, we would only need to really sort them once. Well...we still have to sort through the bundles...but looking at a colored string and knowing where it goes is a lot quicker than having to smell, examine, and judge each individual leaf.”
He rambled on, clearly happy to talk about herbs. Silvermist, who was blissfully ignorant to most of the ins and outs of healing, nodded along, content just to pretend she understood what he meant.
"Now, Frostfall should be able to spend less time hunting for what herbs she needs, and more time actually treating wounds and sickness.”
Silvermist smiled, looking at some of the colored bundles. Her eyes managed to lock on the one standing right above her, just between her and Daisypetals. She glanced from him to the hanging leaves, then back to him again.
“Daisypetals...is that...Mistletoe?”
The pale warrior followed Slvermist’s eyes, up to one of the hanging plants.
“That’s just a fer-”
Before Daisypetals could get the word out, Silvermist’s soft lips were touching his own. It was strange, but..he liked it. All too soon, she fell away from him, and her eyes seemed to sparkle.
“Close enough.”
