The forest was unusually cold tonight.
Shadespirit was back in her barren clearing, where she laid and recalled her past. Her life. When had she.... when had she gone wrong? Everything was fine, she was just another average cat. Her kithood was pretty bland and stale. Her parents weren't really around much, and she was an only kit. So, just her, and the ticking of time until she was 6 moons and was granted more freedoms.
Flipping onto her side, the wound-covered feline put her paws to the side, dead golden eye staring into the haunting black above. She missed seeing colors. How was her kits? Rook?
Her apprenticehood... well, that might have been where they went wrong. It was all fun and games... who was her mentor, again? Oh, that guy. Jasperfrost. He was a nervous freak most of the time, and Shadepaw was certain that he was loony. Maybe she caught the freak-bug from him. But, wasn't that other dead cat rambling about him too? Sweet... sweet something? Pretty ironic for someone who ended up here, so she must have done something bad herself.
Oh yeah, back to her apprenticeship. Being dead was pretty dull, both because of the lovely grays that surrounded her, the absolutely bright and merry personalities, and the fact that she didn't have much better to do then to think and sleep. She wished she could talk to someone who didn't want to kill her or something. Like....
Rivershine. Oh, didn't she miss Rivershine. That's who she was trying to think of. Rivershine with her big, gorgeous eyes, and her half black, half ginger face... where was she now? Hopefully she was living her life out, maybe found someone else. She wouldn't be mad. No, she'd be happy that she got a move on and found romance somewhere else. This time, hopefully in her own clan.
Back to clans, wasn't it? She remembered the old territories vaguely, before there was that weird Mothclan. And, what was that other place? Branchclan? Treeclan? Mothclan 2.0? In her eyes, there was just Mistclan, and Ivyclan. As it once, and always was. They had to move because of those horrid twoleg monsters, who tore up the ground and their homes. That when... the bear.
Paws suddenly gripped over her head, fake claws digging into her fur as her eyes went wide. She couldn't think, couldn't breath, and felt the air knocked out of her chest. As soon as the sensation came, it vanished, and she thankfully didn't remember what she was thinking about that made her so... fearful.
After that, there was the fire. She remembered the long sleep she had, waking up to Silverfang walking around. Yeah, she was out for a while. The new place was alright, there was a waterfall and that one other apprentice jumped off and died. That wasn't cool, more like idiotic. The thought made her give a snicker, and though it wasn't really funny, looking back she could see how absurd it was.
She didn't really remember the rest of her apprenticehood, besides Rivershine. Oh, Rivershine. Rivershine, Rivershine, Rivershine. Maybe one day they'd see each other again.
Then she was made into Shadespirit. And, that's when she... she killed Bearstar. She was banished at a gathering. Then. Then she killed Rivershine.
Rivershine didn't get a chance. She did.
It wasn't fair.
Pinching her eye shut, Shadespirit couldn't fight back the tears that started to burst out. Cold, cold tears. She killed her for what reason? Because she was mad? Because that insane urge in the back of her head took the wheel, and she couldn't get it away?
She wasn't strong. She couldn't even fight her own demons. And now, she had to face her choices.
"Your eyes are lined in pain
Black tears don't hide in rain
And I tied you to the tracks
When I turned around, I heard that sound."

And I tied you to the tracks
When I turned around, I heard that sound."
