The dead monsters were an eerie sight in the light of the full moon. Their odd bones usually lay abandoned, but tonight they were surrounded by cats. Warriors sat on top of them, around them, and even inside them - the peculiar sound of claws against the corpses ringing out across the gathering place as cats walked across the skeletons of those that usually terrified them.
This was the first gathering in the new territories, as was it the first gathering that MothClan had ever attended. Because of this, Mothstar was keen to make a good impression. He and his warriors needed to appear strong so that their claim as a fellow clan was fully accepted. As well as that, IvyClan and MistClan needed to understand that they were not just a nuisance in the background. They were a fully fledged clan which could - and would - cause damage to them should they wish to.
As the MothClan cats strode up to the monsters, Mothstar made sure to initiate eye contact with some of his ex-clanmates - as if he was confirming that yes, he was still here, and no, he wasn't ashamed of himself for breaking away from MistClan. Before the MothClan cats had left their camp, they had been given instructions not to seem ashamed either. They were to appear strong. Yes, they could reconnect with old friends and family while they were at the gathering should they wish to, but they were not to show regret in any way (and, if they felt regret, they were to inform Mothstar of it the following dawn so that he could attempt to fix any issues that they were having).
With any luck, the night would go well. Mothstar didn't expect it to go perfectly smoothly - there would surely be at least an argument or two at some point - but he would be happy as long as he and his clan made a good impression.
Their very first impressions now made, Mothstar split away from his group and clambered onto the top of one of the monster parts to sit in solitude. It wouldn't be long until the gathering began. Until then, cats were welcome to share tongues peacefully with the other clans.
