History
This is the history of the clans before roleplay began on Carried Home. For events after this, see the Timeline of Events.
IvyClan and MistClan have been sisters for seasons. Formed by two loners that decided it would be easier to coexist with other cats rather than continue to fend for themselves, the clans have been through countless difficulties and hardships. The third clan, RoseClan, had fallen early on, but these two persevered through sickness, persecution, disbelief and doubt. Ivystar was a kindhearted soul, who taught her clan that they should hold life above all. She thought with her heart, with her gut, not always her head. It is what made her a strong leader, and her clan trusted in her without fail. IvyClan became closely knit, only death would do them apart, and they refused to let that happen. Miststar was more of a loner than Ivystar was, she kept to herself, she passed on lessons that being in a clan was for convenience. It was easier to survive Leafbare together, it was easier to live and hunt together. She was a clever she-cat, and no one ever truly knew what she was thinking.
These two led their clans for seasons, bringing their dreams to fruition. When it finally came to pass it down, they did so willingly, confident that the next leaders would continue their legacy.
The two clans were opposites, IvyClan had fire in their hearts and thunder in their paws, MistClan had rivers in their thoughts and clouds in their eyes. But, no matter their differences, no matter where they went, they always stuck through it together. They travelled more than once, but believed they had finally found their home when they came to a mountain. IvyClan stayed at the foot, MistClan rose to the top. With Rushstar's might and Froststar's sight, they had lived there for many moons, finally building a home they could be proud of. Kits were born, battles were fought, apprentices grew old enough to teach their own. Under the guidance of StarClan, they created a life in which elders would pass down stories of the journey here through generations. The nomad clans had made a home. They never thought it would be ripped away from them like this.
Twolegs were the cause of the fires, though the poor clan cats didn't know this fact, and burnt the mountain into a charcoal husk of what it had once been. MistClan was forced to flee down, IvyClan scrambling in their scorched home. The clans were devastated, struck so heavily by a loss from which they would never recover. They looked around their home, and realized that it was crumbling and not even StarClan could stop it. IvyClan, who had lost their current leader, went to MistClan with a plea.
'We must leave!' They cried, though their hearts broke with the thought. MistClan had agreed, more quickly than they would've, if they hadn't just been told the same from StarClan. A little apprentice that had perished in the fire whispered in their medicine cat's, Silverfang's, ear. With mischievous blue eyes and a lyrical tone, she commanded Silverfang to tell Froststar it was time to leave their home. The medicine cat bowed her head, and promised that she would. A snicker and a rush of stars were the last thing she saw before she woke up, and the silvery she-cat went to tell her clan, sorrow weighing her down, that it was time to go.
The sister clans joined, and they journeyed like they had all those moons ago.
Though their minds didn't, their paws remembered travelling. The clans were up and moving once more, with Froststar at the head and a newly elected Owlstar at her side. They travelled for many days and many nights, and stopped only when they were forced to. They rested in a lovely valley, MistClan on one side of the river, IvyClan on the other. They remained there for only a few days.
On the final day, Owlstar took her deputy over to MistClan's side, in order to discuss with the other leader where they should go next. The valley thundered, stone grating against stone, and the world split in two. It was complete havoc, the two clans were forced to flee in different directions, and Owlstar was separated from her clanmates. The river had flooded, providing no chance for a reunion, and the clans had to part for the time being. They travelled on their own for several days, exhausted, with heavy eyes and burning paws. Then, a voice, a scent, a shout! A wayward IvyClan apprentice barrelled into his leader, questions already spouting from his throat. Her heart swelled, and she looked up to see her clan had returned to her. The clans were joined again, proving once more that nothing could ever keep the sisters apart.
They traveled together from then on, no more separation. MistClan elders told stories to IvyClan kits, the medicine cats from both checked the work of the other, IvyClan apprentices kept bothering the MistClan warriors. For a brief moment, there was no MistClan, there was no IvyClan, there were just cats doing their best to carry on their legacy together.
Froststar called for a halt, and Owlstar's eyes gleamed with their unearthly glow. They stood together, side by side, as they addressed their clans.
'This was it!' They called, earning grins and looks of awe from all. 'StarClan is with us, they speak to us. The wind has brought us here, the wind has carried us home!' The clans rejoiced, as they looked upon the land that they would build to be just as wonderful as the last. IvyClan and MistClan were separate sisters once again, but something new happened. Just as they'd had RoseClan long ago, they had a new triplet that joined with them. Cats that didn't want to separate after the journey, that discovered something new and wished to explore their own path. MothClan was born, and shared their new home with them.
Somewhere, dancing upon the tree tops, a starry furred apprentice watched her family settle into the world she picked out for them. A snicker, a flicker of light, and she was gone. A cat looks up, sure they had heard something, but then shakes their head and sighs. They must still be tired from the journey. As they look up, among those they knew and loved so well, they had a striking thought. A new story has begun, a new plot was about to unfold. They wondered, was it possible for a single cat to make a difference?
