Sunstrike had been suffering in this moss nest in Silverfang's den for a week or two now.
This suffering was spasms, trouble breathing, and harsh coughing that included blood.
All this was laced with fatigue and trouble acknowledging certain things like voices or smells.
Today would be her final day with this pain.
She was sleeping, she thought that this would help at least a little bit.
Her eyes shot open, pupils slitting.
She gasped, propping herself up on her front legs.
Sunstrike coughed, falling down.
Her legs and body starting shaking and twitching, like she didn't have control over herself anymore.
She hit her head over and over on the floor of the den.
She wailed, digging her claws into the ground, making a sound that any cat would have trouble trying to listen to without looking away.
Foam started gathering at the corners of her mouth.
This went on for only a little bit until she stopped.
The illness had taken another.

What a time to be alive, Bearstar remarked bitterly to herself as she padded with unwilling steps towards the medicine den. To be in the position of primary power and yet be so utterly unable to do anything... she felt as helpless as a newborn kit. At the very least, she had told herself, she should visit the sick every so often. She had lives to spare, though it would be a shame to lose one so quick and not even for anything. Perhaps that was what bothered her most- there was no point to all this pain. Death in battle or against some outer threat was, though no less tragic, understandable. Dying to sickness didn't get anyone anything but sorrow. So it goes, she figured. A sharp wail from the medicine cat's den snapped her from her thoughts, and she darted in, a concerned look on her face. 

With all the noise, she had been dimly optimistic that it was a severe fit and she'd find the source alive, but Bearstar's heart and head sank as she spotted the body of the young and sweet Sunstrike, looking pitiful and twisted with foaming saliva spattering the corners of her mouth. Sitting at the dead cat's side, Bearstar gingerly pressed her jaws shut with a paw. "I am sorry. May you find peace in StarClan," she murmured.
