Owlstar loved her ceremonies, for the sole fact that it meant her clan was healthy and growing. They were lovely, and so she never minded the jumps to the High Rock, the shouting, the cheering that echoed through the forest. She never minded her duties, and that's what helped make her clan great. She was graceful, leaping up to her perch, as if anyone would expect anything else. With a smile, she cleared her throat, and let out the call that would gather her clan to her.
"May all cats old enough to climb the rock face gather here under the Highledge for a clan meeting!" Her voice was loud and proud, as befit the elegant leader. Soon, cats began to arrive below her, and she lifted her head up high and addressed her clanmates.
"The snow is beginning to melt, and the air becomes warmer every day! New leaf is greeting us, and I believe that with this change, there should be another one!" She smiled happily, and then set her yellow gaze upon a kit that lingered at the edge of the group.
"Jaykit, please come up and join me." She waited, until the kit scrabbled up onto the lower ledge where the ceremony would take place. She struck her gaze out upon her clan once more, and settled on one particular she-cat.
"Snowdapple, come forward." Owlstar added, and waited for the warrior to join them as well.
"Jaykit, you are adventurous, and always looking to help. Your mentor is one with a quick tongue and a mind to match, Snowdapple. I trust that you will train Jaykit to the best of your abilities. I remember when you yourself was an apprentice, and I can think of no better partnership to help the both of you to learn and grow. From now on until you receive your warrior name, you shall be known as Jaypaw," She paused, casting a small smile down at the kit turned apprentice. "I believe you will grow to be an excellent warrior."
And with that, she silenced, to allow apprentice and mentor to greet each other, and cheers of chanting the apprentice's new name echoed all around her. Owlstar smiled brightly, her chest feeling warm. Even one apprentice alone, one kit growing, could make her clan this happy. She rose her pale gaze up to the skies. This would be a good new leaf, they'd certainly deserved one.
