Rainfur hadn't been lazing around their new camp much; the blue-gray tom had been a bit anxious since they'd arrived, and he'd spent quite awhile pacing along the stone wall that now surrounded their home. In IvyClan's old forests, he'd already known all of the best sunning spots. Even though he didn't hunt or patrol much, he'd known their territory like the back of his paw. He didn't know this place, though. The scents were all wrong, the layout of the forest was completely foreign to him, and he no longer felt the occasional chill that would brush through his fur as wind blew down the mountain.
It was hard to think that they'd be spending the rest of their days here. Rainfur's lips pulled down in a slight frown as he looked to the bush that had become the elder's den from his spot near the new fresh-kill pile. Not only had he lost his home, but he'd lost the only cat who called him family- Moonmoon. Moonmoon may not have been the greatest tom around, but he'd practically raised Rainfur when no one else would. The old tom had been like a father to him, but the journey had been too much for him and Tinytail.
Rainfur had come to accept the loss, though he couldn't help the emptiness that he now felt. He'd been dramatic when he considered leaving IvyClan for MistClan, but the longing he'd expressed to have someone who considered him real family, who loved him unconditionally, was very real. Moonmoon had somewhat served that purpose for Rainfur but he was gone.
Rainfur shook his head as he returned to picking at the almost skeletal remains of a mouse he'd chosen for lunch, almost scoffing at his thoughts. He had better things to do than worry about such things, right? Maybe... maybe he'd go for a walk later. Yeah, he'd go find some nice sunning spots. "A nice nap ought to break in this new territory," Rainfur murmured to himself, absently gnawing on one of the mouse's legs.
