Applications for the role of Mistclan medicine cat apprentice are now open. Please read all the information and reply to this post with your form if you wish to reply.

The medicine cat apprentice will be picked by Mistclan's current medicine cat, who is written by silverfang218 .

Requirements
 

+ You must be active

+ You must not have broken any rules in the past three months

+ You must be willing to be medicine cat should your current medicine cat die

+ You must understand that if you ever become inactive, you will be removed from the role

+ Your cat must be over 4 moons old. If they are not yet 6 moons, they will become medicine cat apprentice when they reach that age

You may make a new character to apply for the role with, but understand that you may not get the role and you will have to write the character as a normal apprentice/warrior.

Your cat does not have to be a kit or apprentice to apply for this role. Older cats can also apply.

All members may apply as long as they meet the requirements. This includes brand new members. As long as you meet the requirements and are seen posting active IC content, you have a chance at gaining the role.

Strengths: (Three minimum)

• Confident: Frostpaw possesses a cool confidence that will give her a strong presence later on in life, and cause her to act and think with absolute certainty. Because of this, Frostpaw rarely doubts her actions, and it means that she'll never refuse to step forward and put her knowledge to use, even if she might be in too deep. While this might be something that would intimidate others if expressed by a more withdrawn cat, Frostpaw's carefree and happy nature turns her confidence into something she uses to reassure and calm her clan mates down.
• Intelligent: Frostpaw is incredibly intelligent, even if her occasionally reckless actions might say otherwise. Even when spaced out, Frostpaw is constantly taking in information about her surroundings, and she can often recall the exact details of situations she overheard while not truly paying attention. Her sharpness and incredible memory serve to make her a very fast and efficient learner, due to her insatiable curiosity about the world, and cats, around her.
• Carefree: Frostpaw hasn't encountered many hardships in her short life, though that isn't the reason for her cheerful and carefree nature. While she certainly has her off-days and moments of grouchiness, at heart, Frostpaw is a happy cat. She loves life and everything it has to offer, and can often express joy at the smallest things, like how pretty a flower is, or how nice everything smells after it rains. Whether or not she's aware of it, Frostpaw has a knack for cheering up her clan mates with her playful and carefree personality. This also gives her a unique connection to the clan's kits, as her immaturity serves to make kits see and trust her as one of their own, and open up to her in a way they might not to cats they view as being more mature.
• Socially Adept: Frostpaw is good at talking. In kithood, Frostpaw used this skill to manipulate other kits into doing her bidding, though she's grown (mostly because of Nightfur's scolding) to see that doing so only harms those around her. Now, Frostpaw mostly uses her talent to talk her way out of trouble when she does something reckless, which... isn't great, but it's better than taking advantage of the kindness of those around her. If she's mentored correctly and scolded for the things she does wrong, Frostpaw could eventually come to use this skill to genuinely gain the absolute trust of her clan mates and easily deal with even the unfriendliest of cats.
• Strong Stomach: After practically growing up in the medicine den, Frostpaw has seen many things that would make even a warrior lose their lunch. Because she was exposed to vicious injuries early on (despite Silverfang's best efforts to shield her from life's harsh realities- no one could stop a curious Frostkit from peeking), Frostpaw was never given the opportunity to be disgusted by copious amounts of blood or infected wounds. She doesn't enjoy seeing her clan mates hurt, of course, but she will never react with disgust or panic when she sees a wounded clan mate.
• Quick Thinker: Frostpaw can process situations very quickly. While others may panic and find themselves blanking on what to do in a stressful, life-or-death situation, Frostpaw can remain calm and logical in the worst of times. This means that she almost always has a backup plan when her clan mates are in trouble. In the future, this trait might just save a few lives if Frostpaw ever encounters such a situation- though, until then, its main use is coming up with quick pranks to pull on her siblings.

Weaknesses: (Three minimum)

• Headstrong: Frostpaw is stubborn... she really likes getting her way. Acting as the annoying side of her immaturity, Frostpaw will sometimes absolutely refuse to let an argument die. Because of her strong personality, Frostpaw will believe in a course of action so strongly that she will refuse to listen to the voice of reason, no matter how many times they tell her she's wrong. Only her favorite cats will be able to get through to her when she lets her stubbornness take over, though she won't yield without a lot of complaining and a few glares towards whoever she was arguing with.
• Prone to Boredom: Because of her intelligence and tendency to overthink things, Frostpaw absolutely hates just sitting around. She always needs something to stimulate her brain, no matter what little task that stimulation might be. Frostpaw does best in an environment where she's always getting mental stimulation and being challenged, as any time spent being lazy will lead her to boredom, which will almost always cause her to start pulling pranks on innocent bystanders around camp.
• Spoiled: Frostpaw was a very sweet and cute kit- which meant no one ever said no to her, and she was able to get everything her little heart desired. Her apprenticeship has, and will continue to be, a bit of a shock to her; her clan mates no longer treat her with the same softness they had when she was younger, and, at times, she'll whine and complain when she doesn't get her way. Frostpaw will need plenty of tough love from the adults in her life if she ever hopes to be the calm, cool, and collected she-cat she hopes to be when she's older, and to help her leave her spoiledness behind.
• Finicky: Frostpaw is finicky, both appearance-wise and food-wise. Frostpaw knows she's pretty... and she secretly hates not looking her best. While she won't lose her mind over being dirty for a few minutes, she will always have to furiously groom herself as soon as she gets the chance. Because her fur is a pure, bright white, every speck of dirt is extremely visible on her pelt, and she sometimes spends significant chunks of her day making sure her fur is spotless. Frostpaw is also choosy over what she eats, as she dislikes eating anything with much fat on it since she hates the greasy texture of fat. When she can afford to be choosy, she will usually only eat birds and skinny mice. Frostpaw is known for annoying her clan mates when she takes too long to pick something from the fresh-kill pile.
• Bold: Frostpaw may be gentle in appearance and cheerful by nature, but her natural confidence can lead her to be anything but soft. In a world where she's better off keeping her mouth shut and head low, Frostpaw can't help but assert herself at all times. Sometimes, this can lead her to forget to censor her own words and can cause her to be too blunt. While this serves her well when she needs to stand up for herself and others, her mouth does occasionally get her into trouble with her clan mates.
• Aversion to Hunting: Frostpaw isn't necessarily bad at hunting- she's average, at least. Despite her pale coat, which tends to stick out like a sore thumb in the territory, Frostpaw will almost always bring something back for the clan when she goes hunting. However, Frostpaw hates it. She can't stand the feeling of taking something's life. Frostpaw doesn't even mind fighting that much, since killing another cat is frowned upon; when hunting, however, killing is required. If ever ordered to hunt, Frostpaw will always try to talk her way out of it.

While Frostpaw may be immature right now, she is very passionate and eager to find her own path in life. The path she desires most is by the side of MistClan's medicine cat, Silverfang, who she has spent most of her time with since early kithood. After hanging around the medicine den for the majority of her life, Frostpaw has been able to witness first-hand what being a medicine cat entails. If she were to become a medicine cat apprentice, she would already be aware of the harsh realities and tragedies a medicine cat must face. Frostpaw would already see past the novelty of being the medicine cat's apprentice, and she would hold real respect and eagerness for the position, as she knows the weight of its responsibility. While she might not have the maturity of a medicine cat just yet, Frostpaw would know what she was getting into, and she would be fully ready to take whatever the position might throw at her.

Frostpaw also already has a basic knowledge of many newleaf and greenleaf healing herbs because of her kithood in the medicine den (she has the herb knowledge item, don't worry). While she isn't extremely well-versed in the art of healing, Frostpaw is already at a stage where she'd be able to perform some basic first-aid on injured clan mates just from her moons of observing the happenings in the medicine den. Because she started learning while still very young, even if she wasn't intentionally being taught by Silverfang, Frostpaw will likely be able to pick up on further lessons even faster than she might normally have been able to if she started from scratch as an apprentice. Because of this foundation of herbal knowledge she already has, Frostpaw would be easy to teach, and she would be useful from the moment she started her training.

Another reason Frostpaw is fit for this position is that she will one day become a good confidant and voice of reason in adulthood. Her bold, assertive nature, intelligence, and pacifistic values will lead her to become someone whose input could be invaluable as a future advisor to the clan's leader. As a logical and calm thinker, Frostpaw would always do everything she could to steer the leader away from actions that might potentially harm the clan. Her confidence would allow her to stand on equal ground with her leader, no matter who it might be, or how hard they might try to get her to stand down.
Frostpaw wouldn't just be a good advisor, though. As medicine cats are the spiritual leaders of their clans, they need to have the confidence in themselves and StarClan to step forward and give their clan mates hope when everything goes wrong. Such a cat needs its own strong leadership qualities. Even just among her peers, Frostpaw has always been a cat to take action- from the moment she was born, she's been a leader at heart. In this position, Frostpaw's way with words and strong beliefs would serve to instill confidence in StarClan within her clan mates, and, at the worst of times, give hope to cats who might otherwise feel doomed.

Frostpaw would also be a promising candidate for the position due to her personality. Frostpaw's intelligence and natural curiosity would serve her well in learning and recalling herbs, as well as allowing her to think quickly and calmly in emergency situations, and her confidence would allow her to aid in the care of the sick and dying without an ounce of doubt in her own abilities. Her cheerfulness and strength of character would serve her well in connecting with her clan mates in all stages of life, whether young or old.

Other: (Anything else relevant)
Frostpaw is currently fighting with Frostheart's desire to be a warrior and her own desire to walk her own path. Frostheart hopes to leave Frostpaw behind in order for the apprentice to follow her own dreams and shake off the former leader's influence on her desires. If given the opportunity to become the medicine cat apprentice, Frostpaw will be able to fully break free from the future that had been planned for her, and completely become her own cat. It's her desire to follow in the pawsteps of her role model, Silverfang- though, if she is to remain on the path to becoming a warrior, Frostpaw will be able to hold her own and continue doing her best to serve her clan well.

Also, unknown to Frostpaw, she is barren (an unfortunate trait inherited from Frostheart). While she would probably never choose to have kits even if she could, this means that any lapses of judgement she might have with a future tom will not have lasting consequences. Even if Frostpaw, for whatever flawed reason, desired to break this part of the medicine cat code, she would be unable to. As a whole, however, Frostpaw has no desire to even pursue romantic relationships at all, thinking of herself as too beautiful and pure to be sullied by the indecencies of passion.

Strengths: (Three minimum)

• Caring - Kind and protective of others, she will be concerned for her clanmates well-being and attentive to others needs

• Observant - Notices things and gathers information to make decisions on situations, will learn well by watching
• Sociable - Her friendly and kind nature makes her approachable, will do well when in groups
• Curious - Young and ready to learn, currently wants to learn about everything in her world

• Emotional - Respects others and values their input, soft-skinned, will take things to heart and easily be hurt by disappointing others or their cruel words
• Unambitious - Has no motivation to gain stature or extra responsibilities, not interested in becoming the best at anything, she just wants to be happy
• Timid - Fearful of new situations or difficulties, will be cautious to try avoid these things, may not branch out or take necessary risks, likely to hesitate when taking action in these situations
• Team Player - Works best with others, may struggle to be independent and take matters into her own paws or make her own decisions

Why?: 
Sparrowkit is approaching her apprenticeship.  She has several qualities that would make her a great medicine cat.  She has a caring nature which will be useful when helping clanmates and being attentive to the sick or injured.  Her kindness is sincere so she wouldn't have to fake her interest in their problems.  Her sociability and approachableness is important for those who may not typically want to seek the help they need.  Her observant and hardworking traits will be helpful skills for the medicine cats line of work.  Her curiosity will keep her interested in the many lessons she'll have to learn.  Sparrowkit will also struggle with the duties of a medicine cat though.  Her weakness to others harshness, independent work and facing difficult situations will all be exposed if she trains to become a medicine cat.  Her little build will make it difficult for her to become a skilled fighter to defend herself or those in a dangerous situation. She will become a stealthy hunter due to her appearance though, perhaps her sharp observant eyes would also be helpful in spotting herbs. 

(While not roleplayed and she wouldn't remember anyway) She was born small and weak, the only kit of a litter.  She would have spent some time being observed or in the medicine cat den struggling to survive her first few weeks of life.  She was lucky to survive, but now she has escaped her health risk, maybe StarClan was watching out for the young kit.
