The sun was light and warm, three bodies lay stretched out in the tall grass. Now that she and her sister were warriors they had a much stronger bond with their mother. Always patrolling together, learning new things, learning new moves. It was something that Stormwatcher really quite enjoyed. However as minutes turned to hours, and hours into days, Stormwatcher patrolled less and less often receiving words of advice from her mother whom of which would now be a grand mother. Despite being such a serious warrior, Featherclaw doted on Stormwatcher and her growing belly, excited to have grandkits to teach. It was something the dilute she-cat had never seen from her rather serious mother. Perhaps it was because she no longer had anything to prove. She was home now, and no one cared about where she came from anymore.
"They are due any day now you know." She beamed giving her chest a quick lick. Her eyes fluttered open as she thought about the rogues. The last time they had been a problem was at the gathering nearly 12 moons ago and she hadn't heard from them since. It was probably a good thing it meant her kits would grow up in a forest that was safe. Just like her mother she would take them on patrols when they were warriors, teach them right for wrong, when she was an apprentice she was focused on becoming a leader, wanting so desperately to be a leader, but as she grew and found her place, she realized that she was quite content being a mother first, and a warrior second. When her kits became apprentices she would move on with her duties.
"My apprentice Sparrowpaw is going to be a warrior this moon. I'm quite proud of her." She looked at her sister Hailstrike whom also had received an apprentice Stormwatcher couldn't believe she was going to be 20 moons soon. She lifted her head as the sunlight created dappled markings in the grass sighing softly. "Lionstorm is going to make a good dad I think." She chuckled when her mother snorted. Sure there were much better suitors but Lionstorm had changed, he wasn't the flirt that everyone claimed him to be, at least not anymore. He had finally settled. Settled with her. Sure he had other kits running around, StarClan only knew if it was in MothClan but Stormheart didn't really care. He had picked her, and she had picked him.
"There's talk that Mothstar may retire." She mewed to her sister. Their father was old, there was no doubting that, but with no conflict there was no reason why their father couldn't spend the rest of his moons being groomed over by punished apprentices. He was not as big as grump as one made him out to be. He did have a softer side that perhaps only she and hailstrike knew. Which that was okay with her, it kept all the warriors and apprentices in check. "I think Brackenfall will pick you. He's been watching you." She purred warmly. Stormheart closed her eyes listening to Hailstrike talk about being deputy, she was going to be a mother, and life was perfect....
