For the first time in a long time, Owlstar was a bit at peace with the world. A rare kind of day, a once in a blue moon kind of day. On the brighter side of things, it meant that the clan was collectively at ease. Something about a peaceful Owlstar, not just calm, not just regal, but truly alright, was a feeling that spread quickly through the hearts of her warriors, even those that didn't recognize the difference could feel it. Muscles relaxed, eyes were warm, and it was a perfect day for new warriors.
The leader leaped up to her favorite perch, gracefully as always but this time with a smooth transition and with comfort. There was no ache in her bones or behind her eyes today. Her heart was cracked but fixed with ephemeral gold.
"May all cats old enough to climb the rockface gather beneath the High Ledge for a clan meeting!" She called out, laughter flickering in her tone as fleeting as sparks, but there all the same. She waited for her kin to gather beneath her, tail curling around ebony paws, before she began to speak.
"I would like to start off this fine day by announcing two new additions to Ivyclan," She hummed, glancing towards the nursery where she'd only recently dropped off the kits that they'd found.
"Tabby, Dottie, come forth." She paused, watching with golden eyes as one of the sisters helped the other in the right direction, before speaking once again.
"You have chosen the path of a warrior, despite never knowing the forest. I find that incredibly admirable, and it's with an open and warm heart that I welcome you to my clan. As a proper welcome, I'd like to give you names that you can one day be proud of as a warrior." She hummed, glancing towards the sky where Silverpelt lay invisible. "Tabby, from this day forth you shall be known as Stripekit. And Dottie, you will therefore be named Dapplekit. I trust you will prove that you deserve these names I bestow upon you, the day you become apprentices of the clan." She mused, dipping her head slightly, before moving on in her ceremonies.
"And I believe, we have apprentices to name warriors!" The leader exclaimed, eyes bright as a warrior on her first day. "Redpaw, Violetpaw, Blizzardpaw, Bloompaw, Burningpaw, Beampaw, please come forth." She waited as they gathered, before turning to the one that was her own flesh and blood.
"Redpaw, you have gone through so many hardships just on your own. I commend you for your bravery, and for your continued loyalty to your clan. For your everlasting free will and courage, I name you Redbird. I know you'll soar higher than you could ever imagine."
"Violetpaw, despite your disabilities you've pushed forth and become an observant, kindhearted warrior. It is with great pride that I bestow upon you a name that I once called my own. Violeteyes, you've truly become a warrior that we can all depend on."
"Blizzardpaw, you've grown underneath my watchful eye into a strong and capable warrior of my clan. You've always been rather fond of climbing, and I've seen you many a time perched upon a branch, keeping your eyes out for your fellow warriors wellbeing. For this, I name you Blizzardhawk!"
"Bloompaw, you've always been so dedicated to your duties. Not a moment goes by that I don't notice you out helping your clan, and yet you don't claim an ounce of the credit. For your admirable solidarity, I name you Bloomfrost!"
"Burningpaw, you've proven to be kind, selfless, and valiant for yourself and for each and every one of your clanmates! You are an important part of Ivyclan, and so you never forget it, I name you Burningoak for the strongest of trees in the forest!"
"Beampaw, don't think for a second that I've forgotten about you. You're incredibly passionate, never afraid to state your opinion, and a voice that all of your peers can look to for guidance. For this, I name you Beamsong, so you may sing your beliefs for as long as you live!"
"Welcome, new warriors of Ivyclan! We count on you to watch over us tonight!" She shouted, cheers going up around her as her clanmates yelled and exclaimed the names of their newest warriors. They must've sensed that Owlstar wasn't finished, however, as they soon quieted down for their beloved leader to continue her latest speech. Her eyes glowed with soft appreciation and love, before she continued with the newest apprentices to be named.
"Bubblekit, Dropletkit, Ripplekit, Trufflekit, Morelkit, Splashkit, and Puddlekit, please step forth to receive your apprentice names!" She waited as they either bounded over or were ushered by their proud parents, and gazed down upon the sweet things with her warm golden hues.
"Bubblekit, I find you to be rather curious," She mused, tilting her head slightly to the side as her eyes glinted with mischief. "You are quick with your words and even quicker with your observance. You'll find that a silver tongue won't work on me, lovely. I plan to make you a warrior that can still be just as clever, but even more so kind. Bubblepaw, you'll be training directly under me."
"Dropletkit, you're proud and ambitious, two excellent qualities in a new apprentice, as long as you don't let them go to your head. In your case, I find that Maplespring will be the most qualified mentor for you. He is a noble and gentle warrior, and will surely teach you what you need to know to reach each and every one of your goals, Dropletpaw."
"Ripplekit, you are cheerful and one of the brightest kits I've ever met in my nine lives. Goldeneyes is a warrior that I trust with all my heart, who will teach you that patience and silence can be a warriors two best weapons. Ripplepaw, I believe that you will not only reach but exceed my expectations under his wing. Make us proud!"
"Trufflekit, you are one of the most disciplined yet utterly passionate kits that Ivyclan has ever had. Greengale is just as kind, but what he lacks you make up for, and vice versa. I believe the two of you together will help each other grow into even more excellent warriors, Trufflepaw!"
"Morelkit, you are just as empathetic as another apprentice now warrior that I remember. Wingedheart has grown up since her days in the apprentices den, but she still retains every drop of her kindness as the day she was born. As you can see, Morelpaw, she's become a strong and accomplished warrior, and I can only hope that you follow in her pawsteps."
"Splashkit, though shy, you do have the makings of an impeccable warrior of this clan. I trained Raccoonmask myself, and as I'm aware of his abilities, I can think of no one better than him to teach you how to be the bravest you can be, even faced by the fangs of danger. Splashpaw, courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgement that something else is more important than fear."
"Puddlekit, you are as energetic and fiery as they come! You need not someone that can try to keep up, but rather someone that will show you that patience is the key to winning your battles. Lavendersong is a kind, lovely warrior who has proven time and time again that it is the wait that wins the hunt rather than the quickest leap, and I know she will train you well, Puddlepaw!"
Cheers erupted once again from around her, but Owlstar's bright voice rose above all in a clear shout to Silverpelt, to the leaders and friends that she would see again one day.
"Warriors and apprentices, serve us well!"
The leader leaped up to her favorite perch, gracefully as always but this time with a smooth transition and with comfort. There was no ache in her bones or behind her eyes today. Her heart was cracked but fixed with ephemeral gold.
