Somehow, there hadn't been too much difficulty with the transitioning other than an unwillingness to change by some of the more stubborn cats of their group. Newleaf brought warm weather and an abundance of prey, which helped make everyone a little more cheerful despite their circumstances. No matter what happened, though, Screechstar put on a warm and welcoming smile, telling jokes and letting everyone have a lighthearted chuckle every day. And now, as much as he tried to make the days drag on forever, the day of the ceremonies had arrived. It was finally his turn to announce the names of young cats- a fate that he chose. One's name was their monument, what they were remembered by. And a crappy one would ruin their life.
"Cats of young and old, gather around me for our first ceremonies as RootClan," he began after climbing up onto a rock in the side of the cave, above the others, that jutted out, "There is only one cat who needs to be named, an apprentice to become a warrior. Hawk That- I mean Hawkpaw please step forward." He gazed down with a proud little smile on his face at the young tom, dipping his head before continuing, "Hawkpaw, you trained as a prey-hunter under Shatterstorm for your to-be career, however you will now be a warrior of RootClan as opposed to a prey-hunter. For your eagerness to serve for your Clan and lively attitude, you, Hawkpaw, shall now be known as Hawkspring." Screechstar nodded to the tom, a symbol of approval, content with the first victim of his naming.
He finished off his short speech by smirking a little before adding a little phrase that was quieter than the words he had spoken prior, though still rang out through the cave, "And now, dare I say... out with the old!"
