SOOTFROST[bio] warrior of mothclan spiteful, dirty, and willing to bite
agendered afab | she/her | grey-asexual
BIO SUMMARY Severe | Blunt | Quiet | Ferocious | Disconnected For the entirety of her youth, Soot was the problem child. She was a biting, half-feral creature in the nursery. She tracked mud and spite through the apprentice den, she made enemies left and right. Without the empathy of a family or innate kindness, every slight tossed her way seemed like a challenge to her - her kittenish fear grew and twisted into defensiveness and a cold demeanour. She can't see the value in making herself vulnerable and so she avoids it at all costs. She isn't friendly, and she isn't patient - but she's got a stubbornness that could erode mountains and a penchant for survival that suited her well during her training. She is severe and blunt when she bothers to speak, and she is too terrified to empathize, leaving her alone as she tries to convince herself that she prefers it above all else.
HISTORY TO CURRENT EVENTS Birth - 4 moons of age (pre-roleplay) Sootkit was born to a first-time mother, whose pregnancy was evidently too difficult. Born a little too early, it was touch and go for the first few weeks of life, but the little kitten pulled through. The same could not be said for her mother and the sole other sibling, however. She doesn't feel as though she missed out on having family though, being raised around so many others. It's hard to miss people you never met.
Sootkit has had a fairly simple life; she's never experienced worse than some scolding here and there, due to her own misbehaviour. Except for the time she lost a tooth trying to bite a rock, she's avoided any sort of trauma in her young life.
4 moons - 12 moons Sootkit made several enemies in the nursery, often getting into fights and altercations. She was rarely an aggressor, but she didn't care enough about her actions to change how she treated others.
Sootkit was then made Sootpaw, and given Eveningblaze as a mentor. This has since proved to be more difficult for the aggravating apprentice. She more or less hated him at the start, but he was not coddling her and he was clear in what he wanted. There were clear consequences and she wasn't expected to be the perfect, excited apprentice that she couldn't be. She could work hard and improve, and though she remained irreverent for the entirety of it, she thrived on the challenge and the difficulty, sharpening herself into a decent, if young, warrior.
When she was given the rank of warrior, Eveningblaze gave her the name 'Sootfrost' - perhaps her mentor saw more potential in her than she saw in herself, since he suggested that frost, while cold initially, melts away to reveal something blooming underneath. She took a liking to the bite that frost comes with, in true Sootfrost spirit.
12 moons - present
FUTURE PLOTS - Missing father plot - Potential outside manipulation
SWIFTWING[bio] warrior of ivyclan hardened, cold, and loyal
cisgender molly | she/her | bisexual
BIO SUMMARY Emotionally unavailable | Bad at conversation | Bad at empathy | Patient with teaching | Hard-working | Nigh-on obsessive She struggles to express herself and has difficulties letting go of the past. She feels very alone but actively tries to ignore it
RELATIONS Parents Mother Halfheart [deceased] Father Stonestep [deceased]
HISTORY TO CURRENT EVENTS Pre-Roleplay From the adoption thread
Creekpaw, Foxpaw and Swiftpaw had fairly neglectful parents that didn't show much interest in them once they were apprentices so they were left to their own devices and raised by their mentors practically.
But Creekpaw took their parents disinterest personally so he was desperate to keep his sister's close, as a result he tended to meddle with their friendships and be an all around bossy and atagonistic fellow; which they eventually began to have issues with obviously. So the two decided to just ignore him and go about their business after telling him off.
Desperate to make amends Creekpaw followed Foxpaw when she went out on her assessment, having been told to track some old fox tracks to the den they use to be in, but Creekpaw's interruption caused her to not realize there were new foxes in the den.
As a result both apprentices were viciously attacked and Foxpaw eventually died of her injuries after they were brought back to camp by the warriors who arrived at the sounds of their shouting and the foxes snarling.
Swiftpaw blamed Creekpaw for the incident, and he blamed himself as well. Left in the medicine cat den he became a warrior much slower than others his age range including Swiftpaw who became Swiftwing.
Swiftwing resents him, fully blames him and he's accepted the blame since it was his fault but he's not changed enough for her to forgive him. So the two don't talk at all and he'd love to reconcile with her but doesn't know how to go about it.
She was always fairly serious growing up. With parents that didn't care that much about the siblings, especially as apprentices, she found herself trying to take a more adult role in her own life. But conflict arose quickly with her brother's treatment of her and her sister. She doesn't take well to others trying to control her, and when her sister died, she stopped trying to care about people.
Creeksong became deputy eventually, and then went missing. Despite still resenting him, his sudden absence from her life made her aware of how much she still wanted him around. His leaving was equivalent to someone carving a chunk of her out and chucking it into the abyss. Suddenly it wasn't just about doing her due diligence - she started to search high and low for him. Blitzpaw was given to her as her first apprentice, and she worked out a decent training agreement.
- Potential confrontation from looking for Creeksong - Potential forbidden love from looking for her brother
ROOKSHADE[bio] warrior of mistclan sharp edges, sharp tongue
cisgendered tom | he/him | gay
BIO SUMMARY Gossipy | Dramatic | Emotionally in denial | 'Lazy' | Sharp | Quick-witted | Lithe | Irresponsible | Adaptable Rookshade should, for all intents and purposes, be in far worse shape than he is. According to most accounts, he is lazy and irresponsible. He's a gossip, unhelpful, nosy, and rude. However, he is plagued by nightmares and the occasional panic or anxiety attack about his youth, often resulting in him obsessively running through the drills his father instilled in him. He is cruel and sharp as a defense.
HISTORY TO CURRENT EVENTS Pre-Roleplay As a kitten, Rookshade was very close with his sister and only other littermate, Jaykit. The two of them were loved dearly by their mother Redtail and their father, Grousefall. Unfortunately, Redtail fell ill when the siblings hit their apprentice age, and when Rook was 8 moons old he lost his mother. This was incredibly difficult for their father, who was an older cat by the time his children were born. He struggled daily with the loss of his mate, and Rookpaw often ended up in arguments or fights because of the differences in opinion they had. Grousefall very much wanted grandkits, and felt that Rookpaw should be more interested in mollies, that he should work harder, and so on and so forth. Soon enough, Grousefall was putting his children through extra training without informing their mentors. This nearly constant hard work (and abuse, whether physical or not) was too much for the apprentices, and Rookpaw began acting out in protest. This did little to help. Luckily, Rookpaw had a good mentor in the form of Whitefire, an older warrior he still very much respects.
Rookpaw became Rookshade alongside his sister, who was given the name Jaybright. His sister flourished as a warrior, leaning on her optimistic tendencies in order to cope with their overbearing father. Rookshade, however, did very much the opposite. He antagonized his father whenever possible, until their arguments escalated to the point of a physical fight when Rookshade was 26 moons old. Neither cat was seriously injured, but Rook still has the scars from the incident. Grousefall left shortly after.
Jaybright, upset at her father's leaving, left to find him when the siblings were 30 moons old. Since then, Rookshade has been without family - he continues to emphasize that he prefers it this way, but it's unclear how much of that is true.
FUTURE PLOTS - Learning to love someone - Potentially reconnecting with missing family

[BEAR] THAT CATCHES FISH[bio] apprentice of rootclan observant, quiet, and steadfast
cisgendered molly | she/her | lesbian
BIO SUMMARY Quiet | Thoughtful | Observant | Careful | Purposeful | Reminiscent | Passive | Quietly Bitter Bear is seen as a well-behaved, if quiet, child. For the most part, this is true. She is unobtrusive, not a fan of loud noises or erratic games, and studious when the mood takes her. Her opinion is sometimes asked for but rarely heard, and in most cases, she blends into the background. However, she struggles with what no longer is, whispering her old name and home, and trying not to succumb to melancholy or bitterness.
HISTORY TO CURRENT EVENTS Pre-Roleplay Bear's history is without much substance, given her youth. Having lost one of her siblings at birth, she is unaware of the loss and unhurt by it. She has lived a comfortable life, enjoying herself as she can; quiet games and quiet interests in the midst of a fairly quiet bunch of siblings. Luckily for her, most of her family seems to be also a fan of the quiet games. Shewas supposed to grow up as a prey-hunter.
Roleplay & Onwards During the Tribe's movement, Bear became separated from her family. Thanks to Black of Moonless Night, she was able to rejoin them with minimal trauma and no injury. As the tribe moved on, she did not become more confident, instead because incredibly anxious when she lost sight of immediate family members. When they became Rootclan, something fearful filled her, and she began to whisper things to herself, in order to remember them. Bear that Catches Fish, Prey -hunter, and Tribe of Ancient Roots. She knows that she lost her home, her purpose, and her name.
Bear was given the now-named Blackmoon as her mentor. Though she respects and looks up to him, he is another reminder that she will not become a prey-hunter like she dreamed of being.
FUTURE PLOTS - Loss of her mother - Potential better relationship with her father - Increased recklessness leading to incidents and/or apathy - Internalized bitterness over loss
LAKEKIT[bio] kitten of mistclan curious, outgoing, reckless
cisgendered molly | she/her | questioning
BIO SUMMARY Curious | Engaged | Talkative | Reckless | Adventurous | Independent Lakekit is raring to go at any moment. She is incredibly high energy, very independent, and hates being fussed over. She loves almost everything and is rather positive, though she lacks self-preservation in its entirety. Rarely, she can be found still - these are odd moments, where she seems to become sad for utterly no reason but will become inconsolable and unreachable.
HISTORY TO CURRENT EVENTS Pre-Roleplay Lakekit doesn't have much of a history - that she knows of. She knows nothing of any prophecies or lost siblings, she knows nothing of the familial connections that link her to the clans as a whole. She doesn't know about the smuggling of her siblings, the whispers among the medicine cats. She knows Mistclan - her mossy nest, her mother, Robinkit. and those around them.
BIO SUMMARY Humourous | Caring | Long-winded | Relaxed | Meandering | Emotionally Vulnerable Otto, despite all his tragedy, finds comfort in others. He's incredibly social, and lives with the idea if he can help just one person every now and again, he's living a good life. He's lost a lot in his life, but while the burden is heavy some days, he tries to be optimistic.
Children: Maize [deceased] Holly [deceased] Blue (adopted) ['adopted' by twolegs]
Close Friends: Max [deceased, german shepherd]
HISTORY TO CURRENT EVENTS Pre-Roleplay Otto was a gift to a child. He was a scrawny black kitten with a whole twoleg-nest to explore and play in, a german shepherd to nap with, and a little twoleg-kit to pet him and sometimes put bows on his head. Unfortunately, life isn't always kind. For some reason, the two big two-legs stopped living together, and one of them took the girl away. Otto was just about a year old when the twoleg tossed him and the then-old dog out on the street. He never opened the door to them again. So Otto and his dog moved around for a while, Otto picking up street skills and his dog friend finding hiding spots for quite a while. It wasn't until he was nearing 25 moons that the dog passed away, and Otto found himself very much alone.
But not entirely. He'd made some friends with strays and loners and kittypets, and one of those kittypets was a lovely molly by the name of Rue. Rue ran off with Otto one day, and they lived together until Otto was 42 moons of age. Again, life seemed to hit Otto hard, and Rue got sick while carrying their kits. Neither Rue nor the kittens survived.
For a brief period of time, Otto was inconsolable. Life seemed to kick him down at every turn - he was doing his best to try and be resilient, but he felt awful. He wanted to have one good thing to hold onto.
Then he was 48 moons, and he stumbled on an 8 moon old named Blue. Blue wasn't doing great, so Otto took her under his wing. They traveled for a while before Blue started getting restless - she was a sweet kid, but she struggled with living outdoors. Eventually, Otto and her stumbled upon some twolegs who became enamored with the little Blue, and Otto convinced her to go with them. She would go on to be happy, while the twolegs moved on.
Otto said goodbye to Blue when he was 52 moons old. His heart was heavy, but she had given him a chance to help and heal a little, and he decided that if he could help someone else, he owed it to the world and those in it to try
FUTURE PLOTS - Finding love? - Helping out others
SONGS / INSPIRATION
You Can Have the Crown - Sturgill Simpson: "If the devil comes by with a better deal, this ol' soul's going down."
BIO SUMMARY Uncanny | Survival-oriented | Obsessive | Focused | Slippery | Resourceful | Tenacious Tick is incredibly off. From the way they barely speak with their hoarse, scratchy voice to the way they seem to be survive through scavenging and making a living like rats and crows. They seem to have no discernable personality; they won't correct pronouns, they rarely respond to verbal stimuli, and it's difficult to tell whether or not they're listening. It seems that they do the things they're told to though, without complaint.
RELATIONS Parents Father: Unknown Mother: Lady [deceased]
Siblings: Burr [deceased] Gnat [deceased]
HISTORY TO CURRENT EVENTS Pre-Roleplay Tick wasn't always alone.
They had parents - or at least a mother. Her name was Lady and she was a former kittypet. She had been a loner for four years and was a little old for another litter; the other two kittens were lost, leaving her with the then-little Tick. Tick was not their first name - there was another, but it is lost to time.
Lady is not remembered much by Tick. Tick remembers a white cat with long fur and a smile that seemed bright and caring. That's all Tick truly remembers. While they couldn't pinpoint exactly when it happened, Lady went away one day (when Tick was 6 moons old, and Lady had gotten picked up by a roaming coyote) and Tick was alone. They made it on the twolegplace streets for a while, eating scraps and getting better at scavenging. Eventually, too frightened that they'd get picked up by a twoleg, Tick found themselves headed into the forest. There are less scraps by clan lands, but there are less dangers as well. Staying out of borders, picking off crow food, and keeping to themselves has gotten them this far.
FUTURE PLOTS - Join a clan to actually learn how to live better - Eventually tell someone about their gender
Carried Home is a Warriors roleplay forum. We feature four clans - all four of which have futures that heavily depend on what your characters do - as well as a 50 word count minimum on RP posts, and a functioning currency and shop.
While most of the action does center around our four clans, members are also permitted to make loners, rogues, and kittypets. You can also make both StarClan and Dark Forest characters.
