Paws the color of cinnamon trudged through the leaf litter, leaving a near clear trail behind. The sun had disappeared a while ago from the sky, leaving the land in dull tones of color. The chilly air bit through his fur, his breath clouding in the air. Tanglespring didn’t know where his paws were taking him, and frankly, he didn’t care much where they took him.
His once amber eyes that were fiery with life had turned dull. He put on a facade in front of his Clanmates, smiling and holding his head high. An ‘elite warrior’. Yeah, right.
He sighed through his nose, closing his eyes for a moment as he walked. Why did he ever tell Tansysong that he could fight? He had never killed before... had he?
As he couldn’t see what was in front of him, his toes suddenly dipped into icy water. He jumped away from the stream that had formed in the dirt, frantically shaking the water off his paw. Curious, he took a closer look at the stream. He could see his reflection, though blurred and morphed by the constant flow of the water.
In his reflection, he saw his eyes turn black and scars that were not his own appear on his pelt. Tanglespring gasped in shock and scrambled far away from the water. That wasn’t him. But it was him! Who was that? He knew who he saw in the water. Who was it? Who was it?
A ruffle in the dying undergrowth of the forest beyond shook him out of his thoughts. His fur set on end, he stood and looked across to the IvyClan border, which he was quite a ways away from. Probably just a passing patrol, he thought. I should get out of here before I cause any trouble.
