As it had been for the last many moons, HeronStar was the first leader to arrive at the gathering. Although she knew that the clans would have much to discuss since the last time they had met, she hoped that this gathering would be a quick one. Her clan had rather little to report, save for a few advancements in rank, and the usual reports of prey running well. The IvyClan leader hoped that the other clans would be able to share something similar. The chill of Leafbare had crept into the territories, and for a short-furred cat such as herself, the idea of cuddling up in her den was one that was quite tempting. But, a leader’s duty had to come before her own comfort, so here she was. The carriages where the leader’s usually sat were coated with a thin layer of ice, which made them slick and difficult to walk on. HeronStar’s claws slid out, gripping into the ice like a set of sharpened skates. The leaders were all going to have to be careful tonight, unless they wanted to be bruised into green leaf.
"My horse is the greatest horse CUZ ITS NOT REALLY A HORSE AT ALL! Its more like a tortilla, On top of another tortilla Filled with gooey cheese fresh salsa too They forgot my sour cream....."
"Absolutely no more characters!" I promised myself, three characters ago.
Mantisclaw gave no thanks to her short fur as she padded into the Moon's Maw. She, too, had been tempted to spend the night curled up in her nest, ideally with her kits. They were reaching the age where independence was important, but she worried that moving out of the nursery would only cut in half the little time she had to spend with them. Still, the young deputy had managed to put them to bed and organize the MothClan cats fast enough to reach the Gathering in time to not hold anyone up.
Her competitive nature left her fur itching at the prospect of being second to arrive, but she'd have to admit to some relief too. It didn't feel right for her to be standing up there before any of the leaders when she was only a deputy. She hoped that the punctuality would help to make up for the fact that it was her leading them forward again, and again with nobody to stand in her own place. A stand-in deputy was expected to become the proper deputy, in her eyes, and she was still telling herself that she wouldn't have to make that decision quite yet.
Mantisclaw looked up to Heronstar with a friendly expression, not just a strained smile for the forced peace, but a genuine amicable look. She dipped her head and shortly greeted the other leader so that Heronstar would know, when she unsheathed her claws, it was only to make sure she didn't slip on the monster for the second moon in a row. It would be no good for her to get a reputation for it. The tabby crouched down, glanced over at the gathered cats to check who was watching, then launched herself at the top of the monster and managed to land right where she needed to be.
On top of the thing, Mantisclaw looked over the clanmates she brought with her and quickly went through all of her news in her mind. The most important piece was obviously that Tansystar was now not only busy, but missing. Luckily, her lack of experience couldn't hurt her with this. Mantisclaw's father had told her what to do before he left. Long before he left, that is, at her very first Gathering. ”Do not mention Brackenstar. They don’t need to know,” Eveningblaze had told MothClan, after Brackenstar was captured by Twolegs. Mantisclaw would follow the same principle tonight.
A smirk came to her maw as she remembered something that she herself had said. ”I imagined there being more cats here. Everyone talks like they bring whole clans.... This is even better! I might get to talk to all of them.” Fate was a strange thing. Tonight, she would be speaking to all of them, on behalf of MothClan. For now, though, before the other two clans arrived, the only cat within a conversational distance was Heronstar. "It's cold tonight," Mantisclaw commented absently, still trying to arrange her announcements in her mind.
Carried Home is a Warriors roleplay forum. We feature four clans - all four of which have futures that heavily depend on what your characters do - as well as a 50 word count minimum on RP posts, and a functioning currency and shop.
While most of the action does center around our four clans, members are also permitted to make loners, rogues, and kittypets. You can also make both StarClan and Dark Forest characters.
