Dogstar sat outside the camp today. The waterfall droned on beside him, spraying his fur with mist. His green eyes were dull as they looked at the forest beyond. Were the other Clans as bad off as they were?
He deeply sighed, ears drooping, then turned and stepped into the cave, making his way to the stone that jutted out above his den. He jumped up onto it, then called all his Clan to gather for a meeting. Or, what was left of it.
”My Clan, I know things have not been going spectacularly well for us, but that doesn’t mean we sit around and feel sorry for ourselves. We must keep on living, no matter the circumstances. Which means we have warriors to name. Lilypaw, Carp-paw, come forward.”
He watched as the two apprentices trudged up to him, only two in a litter that used to be four. He saw Honeywing sitting beside the nursery, tail curled around her paws. Her head drooped slightly, an empty space beside her where Silverspot used to be.
”Lilypaw and Carp-paw, you have both trained well and have earned your warrior names. Lilypaw, from this moment forward you will be known as Lilyshine. Carp-paw, from this moment forward you will be known as Carpleap. Together, you both bring hope to the Clan for a better future.” he bowed his head to his niece and nephew, then turned his attention to the rest of his Clan.
”With apprentices becoming warriors and kits becoming apprentices, we have hope. Don’t let go of it. A new deputy will be chosen soon, as well. That is all for now.” he jumped down as soon as he finished and trotted up to Lilyshine and Carpleap, rubbing his cheeks against theirs. ”Make me proud.” he told them, pulling back and smiling at them.

Standing beside his sister, Carp-paw had never felt any more proud; but at the same time there was a sinking bit in his paws. Yet again, it seemed there were cats they were missing; his brother for one. But unlike at his apprentice ceremony, he had realized that there might have been a reason for this; he was the only one who was able to see his little brother. As he grew, they had not; and he was beginning to realize that maybe there was a reason for that.
He was...confused, at the best of times; but today he did his best to ignore the tiny kit that haunted the edges of his vision as he stepped forward and received his new name. Carpleap. It was good, strong...something his mother and father should be proud of.
"Sound like a perfect fit for you, Lilyshine!" He grinned, recognizing his sister's name before his own, and giving her a playful nudge with his nose. "We're finally here!"
Lilypaw stumbled after her brother to the front of the gathered cats as she heard her uncle call for a gathering. She quickly sat down beside Carp-paw and curled her tail around her paws, hoping her fidgeting wasn’t too recognizable. The young she-cat would’ve been more ecstatic if her other two siblings were here with her.
Quickly sweeping the thought of Alderkit and Flintkit from her mind, she turned her head up to Dogstar as he called she and her brother’s name.
”Lilypaw and Carp-paw, you have both trained well and have earned your warrior names. Lilypaw, from this moment forward you will be known as Lilyshine. Carp-paw, from this moment forward you will be known as Carpleap. Together, you both bring hope to the Clan for a better future.”
Lilyshine. Her ears perked up and she sat up a little straighter. Lilyshine and Carpleap, the siblings to bring MistClan hope. Perfect.
”Sound like a perfect fit for you, Lilyshine!" Carpleap’s voice broke into her thoughts, nudging her with his nose. ”We're finally here!"
Lilyshine grinned at her brother. ”Yeah. You’re right.” As her mother approached to congratulate them, she felt the back of her neck begin to burn. She turned around, looking through the dispersing crowd to find that strange cat staring at her. As soon as he saw that she realized he was staring at her, he turned and disappeared behind the waterfall. A shiver ran up Lilyshine’s spine as she pictured that emotionless split-face, one side black and the other cream, one eye glowing yellow and the other murky hazel.
She swept the tom from her mind just as she did with her other siblings and turned back to her family, Toffee approaching to offer her congratulations as well.
Carried Home is a Warriors roleplay forum. We feature four clans - all four of which have futures that heavily depend on what your characters do - as well as a 50 word count minimum on RP posts, and a functioning currency and shop.
While most of the action does center around our four clans, members are also permitted to make loners, rogues, and kittypets. You can also make both StarClan and Dark Forest characters.
