Owlstar slipped from the warmth of the nursery, shaking out her long smoky fur against the chill of the day. She huffed, her breath fogging up in the frigid air, and made her way towards the place she had claimed as her perch to address the clan. It was above the new leaders den, a few ledges up, just enough so that she'd see the cats gather underneath her, so that all could hear her voice. She leaped up there now, with precision and grace as per usual, and settled herself steadily on the ledge.
"May all cats old enough to climb the rock face gather here under the Highledge for a clan meeting!" Her voice shattered the illusion the cold morning gave. It was sunhigh, and yet warriors and apprentices not busy with patrols and the like were hiding in their dens, away from the cold. But, as leafbare was starting to take hold, Owlstar decided they were going to need all the paws they could get in order to persevere in this new territory. She held her head high as cats gathered, gazing at them with watchful yellow eyes. Finally, once it had seemed that most of the clan had come together, she started to speak again. As much as she decided this warriors ceremony was necessary, she herself would like to get back to the warmth of her den.
"Frost coats the ground, and prey has started to hide in their dens, but Ivyclan is still as strong as ever." She began, casting her gaze towards the apprentices. "However, we need all available warriors working to help the clan, all warriors deserve the chance to help their clan as much as possible! Wouldn't you all agree?" She hummed, finally settling her gaze on one apprentice in particular.
"One apprentice has come of age, and perhaps as a warrior, he'll know the answers to his own questions," She joked, before flicking her tail to gesture Cricketpaw to step forward, ahead of the crowd.
"I want Cricketpaw to be in the first hunting patrol set out today," She spoke, before seeming to hesitate and question her own words.
"No, I want Cricketjump!" She then called out, and watched her words have the intended ripple effect as cats understood her correction to be the declaration of Cricketpaw's new warrior name.
"By the powers of Starclan, I give you your warrior name! Make your clan proud!"
