Spirits were down. Owlstar absolutely despised it when spirits were down in her clan. Ivyclan cats were filled with fire and followed their hearts, it was just odd to see them so sluggish and on edge. She sighed. It was leaf bare, she supposed. What else had she expected? Yellow eyes flickered with an idea, and she rose from her place in her nest to peer outside into the cold. It wasn't that bad out, with only minimal snow on the ground. It was more chilly than it was anything else. This gave her resolve. Yes, a good thing to do in order to cheer up her warriors! It was time for new blood to rise up and take their place in the clan. They needed all the paws they could get, after all.
The leader strode out, making the leaps up to her rocky ledge with ease. She loved being up so high, able to see the faces of all her clan cats. It made her voice boom and every word was heard. She cleared her throat, raising her head up high and regal as she sat with her tail curled around her paws.
"May all cats old enough to climb the rock face gather here under the Highledge for a clan meeting!" Her voice was loud and proud, as befit the elegant leader. She waited for a moment for cats to hear her and gather before she began to speak.
"Leafbare has been rough on all of us," She began, her loud tone fading into something more soft and warm. "But we are a clan built on trust and blood, we have persevered through every challenge Starclan has given us. Because of us, the clans found a new home. Because of all of us, we still thrive as we did when Ivystar first addressed her warriors with pride! Leafbare is difficult, but we have new blood ready to rise up and take their rightful places among our ranks as warriors!" She called, passionate and bright.
"Brookpaw, despite all of the hardships you've gone through, you still hold your mentor's lessons dear to your heart and follow them with passion and pride! You have the right to sing out your hopes and dreams just like any one of us! With this, I name you Brooksong, a warrior that will protect her clan with not only her claws, but with the knowledge passed down to her."
"Russetpaw, despite your hesitance at first, you've become a fine young warrior in your own right. You are kind and gentle to all that need it, and yet ready to leap to someone's defense as soon as they're called out. You are a lovely young tom, true to your heart in any way that you can be. Because of this, I name you Russetblaze."
"Wildpaw, true to your name, you've given all of our warriors quite the ride," She began, whiskers twitching in amusement. "But despite this, you are a sweet tom, who gives his all for his friends, and never lets anything get you down for too long. I expect you to stay with your free and spirited nature, and for that I name you Wildwing."
"Shadowpaw," She began, yellow eyes sparking as she looked down at the small tom. "You've been all that I could've asked for in an apprentice, in a clanmate. You followed us across the land after we thought we lost you, did everything you could to get home to where you belong. You are thoughtful, mischievous, and creative, solving problems that we, that I, didn't know were present. You will serve your clan well, as a cat who can see more than any one of us can on our own. I name you Shadowgaze." She smiled once more at him, pride welling up in her chest, before she cast her tone out to all.
"Warriors, we trust Ivyclan to your paws!"
She let them all cheer for a moment, unable to help the bright smile that adorned her features when she saw her ceremony had the intended effect, they were all so lively and wonderful, she could've watched them all day. There wasn't much else to address, so watch them she did, yellow eyes soft and warm as she gazed upon her clan.
Ivyclan really was full of heart.
