Silverfang took another glance around her den as she started to exit, taking one last mental list of the herbs she needed to look for. Catmint would always be good to look for, up at the twoleg den; however, the most important thing to look for would be borage leaves and chervil, so Silver decides to start looking in the forest. Fennel can be looked for on the way back, along the riverbank. Those seem like good herbs to stock up on this time of year.

She makes these mental notes all in the span of about a second as the she-cat turns and begins to slowly make her way out of the camp. She had asked her apprentice to sort herbs into piles (mostly using appearance and scent since the new apprentice won’t know what everything is quite yet) when Morningpaw gets up, so hopefully the last few days worth of herb hunting will be ready to put up once she gets back.

Silverfang pauses at the entrance to camp, briefly wondering whether she should ask a warrior to come with her since there had been a devastating fox attack not all that long ago… but she banishes the thought quickly. No need to pester the warriors; they have more important things to do, like hunting.
Besides, with the death of Frostheart, Silver doesn't necessarily feel like she'll be very good company.

"Ah, Silverfang! I'm glad I caught you before you left," Bearstar's voiced echoed faintly against the stone wall. She waved her tail in greeting to her clan's medicine cat, and realized she hadn't really spoken to her outside of times of urgency much since she had become leader. A good clan needed strong leadership, and a steady bond between leader and healer couldn't hurt, surely. Besides, two jaws could carry more herbs than one, so it was a practical decision, too. "There's been too much dangerous activity around our territory- I'd be much more comfortable if you let me join you," her tone started formally, but her voice softened as she continued, "if that's alright with you. We have lost some recently already- I would rather not lose you, too." Her ears flicked with mild embarrassment- she hoped she wasn't coming across like some worried queen. She just wanted to make sure her clan's healer remained with them rather than departing to Silverpelt before her time.

The medicine cat’s ears perk up at the sound of her name. The she-cat turns towards the voice and waves her tail as a greeting as she forces a smile to her face. “I can take care of myself…” She chuckles softly, joking around with her leader “But I suppose I could use the company.” Silverfang takes the company without seeming too surprised; it isn’t completely uncommon for her to end up with some company whenever a warrior sees her out and about without anyone to watch her back. It was a bit annoying at times that her clanmates seemed to forget that she had earned her warrior name the same way they did, but for the most part, Silverfang doesn’t really mind.

She turns towards the exit once more, beckoning with her tail for Bearstar to fall in beside her. The silver she-cat had started out a timid medicine cat, allowing others to easily walk all over her. One could argue she’s still that way, but this is her herb-finding patrol. Bearstar is under Silver’s leadership now. “I was going to head out towards the more forested part of the territory to look for a few herbs to help our queens, and then I want to look for a few more along the river on the way back.” She quickly explains the game plan while sparing Bear the specifics of what she’s looking for. She almost hopes that Bear will strike up a conversation as she would like to get to know the she-cat she calls leader a bit better, but Silver herself is somewhat bad at conversation.
