Nightfur’s green gaze stays trained on the entrance to camp, looking for the big oaf of a cat she called her beloved mate. She had been stationed here for a while now waiting not so patiently for him to return, her tail twitching back and forth anxiously while her paws knead the ground. Today she had something very important to tell him and no desire to do anything else until she got this off her chest.

Lately she had been feeling a little… different. Different in a somewhat familiar way. Silverfang had confirmed the dark warrior’s suspicions. She was expecting another litter. Ravenwing’s kits. While she can’t imagine the big tom to take it poorly (she is kind of expecting him to jump around like a kit when she tells him, honestly), she can never quite be sure. Until she sees his reaction with her own eyes, the older warrior is going to have butterflies fluttering around in her stomach. Well… and kits rolling around in there, but talking to her mate isn’t going to stop them.

Finally Ravenwing makes an appearance. As the large tom steps into view, Nightfur hops to her paws. She bounds over to the big guy, a grin making its way across her face. “Ravenwing,” she calls out to him to get his attention. “Ravenwing,” she purrs as she gets closer, greeting him by affectionately rubbing against his side. “I have something important to tell you.”

Big floof had been stationed early on the dawn patrol, but his weariness had dripped away more with every paw step, and now, he was clearly wide awake and ready to tackle anything that the day threw at him. And now, this was his first and final test! As he trod behind the waterfall back into the Mistclan camp, the warrior let loose a rather joyous purr as he was greeted and embraced by the beloved she-cat, Nightfur.

"ravenwing, I have something important to tell you." What could it possibly be? The warrior cocked his head ever so slightly as he pondered, but suddenly, he recoiled with a mighty gasp. Starclan! Could it possibly be what he thought? Was it really happening so soon?? He felt his breath catch in his throat and his eyes grow wide.

"Starclan, please don't tell me,"

his tone was urgent. Terrified. Full of horror. A change like this would effect everything from this moment forwards!

"that the mice have finally revolted! Starclan, is it true?? Are we really the prey now? NIGHTFUR, we have to move...!!" but by the sake of Starclan, he wasn't joking around. Besides, what else was he to do back on the mountain than listen to the preaching of the mad warrior, Crowflight. That was before the warrior had leaped off of the great rock at the Fissure.

Perhaps the fishy cat may of taken some of the advice to heart. Maybe one day the mice and the birds and the fish would truly revolt and wreak havoc among the clans.

He just perhaps believed that that day was today.
"Starclan, Crowflight was right! We have to move! Now! C'mon, we've to warn the clan! Got to get the kits!!" Ravenwing would howl, stumbling over his own feet as he tried to flee in all directions at once. Good job.

The queen didn’t quite know how to respond to this. This was something new entirely… guess this wasn’t the best time to tell Ravenwing since it seemed like he had been hitting the catnip a little too hard. She wanted to believe he was joking, but likely not; the tone of his voice and way he stumbled over himself told her he likely believed this was real. Oh Ravenwing, what am I gonna do with you, you silly tomcat.

She rears up a bit to put a comforting paw on Raven’s shoulder, quickly touching her nose to his cheek to calm the distressed tom. “That’s nice, dear, but that has nothing to do with what I have to tell you.” She stifles a chuckle. He was so pure and innocent… and adorable. Of course, what she has to tell him may send him into a deeper panic. “I have good news, actually. Or at least I think it’s good news.” She purrs to him, rubbing her cheek against his affectionately so he won’t want to scramble away and escape her.

After a moment, she leans in so that her nose is almost touching his ear. She whispers, as if sharing a private secret with him even though there is no reason to keep it a secret. “Ravenwing, I’m pregnant. You are going to be a father.” She grins encouragingly as she pulls away, sitting back on her hindquarters so the slightest curve of her stomach is visible when one is looking for it. Yup, this is happening. Ravenwing gonna have kits of his own.

Oh, no! No catnip! He was completely and utterly clean of cat drugs. Which made him look even more pathetic. Really.

He allowed himself to cease his flailing as Nightfur placed her paw on his should and say that his fears had yet to come true. The clans were safe for just a little bit longer. "Oh.." he drawled, somewhat relieved. "You're sure..?" but Nightfur seemed pretty sure. After all, this was a serious, no joke matter. Even if the apocalypse was not today... “I have good news, actually. Or at least I think it’s good news.” No mouse apocalypse was good news.  “Ravenwing, I’m pregnant. You are going to be a father.” No mouse apocalypse was good-- wait. 

"Ohmystarclannightfur!" Ravenwing gasped with a mighty purr. Kits! His kits! Nightfur's kits! "I can't believe it! I'm gonnabe a fath--you're gonna be a mother!! Again!" Nightfur was gonna make more finches! And he helped!! When Nightfur leaned back to expose her growing stomach, Ravenwing would bound a happy bound forwards and press his paw against. "I wanna name that one! When it's born, can I name this kit?"

Nightfur giggles softly at Ravenwing’s reaction; this is how she thought he would be, just as excited as Finchkit had been when she told him she would help him make the perfect mossball. “You are going to be the best father.” She purrs, a big grin covering her face. Her purr becomes louder as her mate presses a big paw to her belly; the kit in question responds with a bit of wiggling under Raven’s paw. Soon Nightfur would be able to tell which kits would be troublemakers by who is kicking. For now, her kits were too small to do much more than wiggle.

“Of course, Ravenwing.” She flicks his nose with her tail; they’ll be his kits too, after all… though she’ll have to approve his name choice. Can’t put too much trust in Ravenwing making choices on his own otherwise they’ll end up with a whole litter named ‘Fishkit’. But… she’ll accept one cat named after a fish.

She licks his head, still purring. “They’ll be so beautiful, Ravenwing. They’ll be big and strong, just like their father.” She smiles at him. Yes, they’ll be beautiful. And they’ll have a beautiful, loving father to care for them. She can't wait.
