Meteorfall looked down at the four kits beside her. Three toms, one she-kit. The first, a bluish-gray tom named Mosskit, who Finchtongue had begged to name him. The second, was Cloverkit, a pretty light cinnamon brown and light gray she-kit. The third, Silverkit, a light gray tom with darker flecks of gray on his rump, who Meteorfall had named after Silverfang. And finally, Cinderkit. A cinnamon brown tom with a black head and tail with white paws and a white chest. They hadn't even been here for a moon and Meteorfall already loved every single one of them. As they started to stir, her ears pricked up, wondering how they'd react to this world and to their mother and father.

Mosskit seems to be the first to wake up; within a second of opening his eyes, Mosskit leaps up as high as his paws can propel him (which isn’t very far) with a squeal. There’s… a squishy material beneath his paws and it feels like it’s gonna swallow him up! Of course, Mosskit is named after said soft, green material, but he doesn’t know that, and while he does know that he’s felt this material under him since his birth but it hasn’t struck him as malicious until right this very moment.

The grey kitten hops and skips his way out of the nest, doing his best to not let his paws touch the moss nest any more than strictly necessary as he attempts to escape the moss’ grasp.

Silverkit mewled in protest at the sudden activity next to him, lifting his head up from where it was buried in the moss bedding to blink at whatever was being so noisy. He saw a kit whose name he didn't really know but who smelled like family hopping around on the springy stuff beneath their paws. Looks fun, the grey tom pushed himself to his paws and took a few tentative leaps, hopping carelessly between, around, and maybe even on his siblings. Whoever his brother was, he had really good taste in games! 

With another leap, the little tom flew onto another new surface, one similarly soft but nowhere near as bouncy. He stared at his paws, dumbfounded, before glancing up to see the warmly amused gaze of his mother. Startled- were other cats all so big, how did they get so big!? - he ran a few steps away and sat down, sniffing at everything. The world was really weird, but he liked it and the big cats that lived in it.
