"It's not as easy as it looks, takes real talent" Eaglewing purred cockily as she slowly led the molly into a part of twoleg place, it was a small foresty area. "Mice often run around here, and squirrels" he mewed simply. "My kits have just been born, not much right now but they'll be strong fighters. Mocha, their mother, is taking my little girl though. Can't really complain as I promised her a kit in return for some cats for me to bring up into the group" he added, a hint of slight sorrow in his meows.

"Anyway enough about me, let's actually catch something" he grumbled as he lead her to his familiar area. This was where he could catch the best mice, they were always fat and slow. Even a kit could catch them! "Just go with your natural instincs, pounce and bite" the tom added as he gestured towards the mice dens.

Tallulah listened thoughtfully to Eaglewing as he lead her from her yard. It made sense, but part of what he said made the kittypet frown. ”Then what happens to all the strays and wild cats who don’t have the talent? Do they go hungry?” Her heart clenched at the thought of all those starving cats. However, she reasoned that’s why Eaglewing and the clans do what they do- the warriors and those in training hunt for the weak and small, and this former warrior did the same for his group. It made the young Molly’s insides feel all warm and fuzzy.

The talk of Eaglewing’s kittens only added to the fuzzy feeling in her belly as the kittypet cooed happily. Kittens were always so cute and funny to watch when her neighbors would let them into their yards, and Tallulah could only imagine how fun it would be to watch wild kits. Ones that weren’t cushy and scared of everything.

As they came across a bit of a secluded patch of shaded greenery, Tallulah meowed heartily,”Well, I hope you get to see the both of them regularly. I’m sure your babies will be really strong like you, Eaglewing. Maybe I could be friends with them some day. I know a lot of games.” She then quieter down and followed the pale tom’s instructions, crouching low to the ground. Her belly rubbed against the grass a bit, but not enough to make much of a sound. She had remembered Longwing trying to teach her the same thing when she was a kit, but it was a lot harder to keep still at that time. Her aquamarine eyes carefully scoured the undergrowth before detecting a hint of movement. An unfamiliar scent similar to squirrel washed over her scent glands and she narrowed her gaze to a pudgy grey creature nibbling on a beech nut not too far from one of the slender trees. Carefully, she stalked her way over.

Seconds felt like eons as Tallulah Rose crept closer and closer until she couldn’t any more. In a flash of fiery orange, she dashed at the mouse and pounced, a soft tinkling sound chiming with her movement. The mouse moved to run, but was too slow for the ginger and had become caught within her grasps. It was only too bad that Tallulah was unsure of her footing. Having landed practically on top of the rodent, she struggled to actually grab hold of the critter. She managed to scrambled to kill it, and once she had, Tallulah raised her head proudly with its mangled corpse dangling from her jaws. Ears torn and tail bent and broken, but nevertheless dead as a piece of prey.

"Yes, if you can't catch your own food then no one else will do it for you. Some bad hunters will resort to begging at twoleg dens though" he replied coldly. 


Well, I hope you get to see the both of them regularly. I’m sure your babies will be really strong like you, Eaglewing. Maybe I could be friends with them some day. I know a lot of games.

Eaglewing paused for a minute, trying to find the right words to say. "Hopefully. One of my sons, Hawk, is very promising. He caught a mouse yesterday even though he's only 2 moons old. I could bring him out to meet you another day if you like since I need to start his training soon anyway" he replied eventually, shaking his white pelt that clung to his muscular body as he watched Tallulah Rose go after a mouse.

Eaglewing watched her very closely, she was making a lot of rookie mistakes but nothing that couldn't be fixed in a training session or two. He honestly didn't think she'd get close to catching anything so he was surprised when the molly raised her head to show her catch. She had definitely flattened the mouse before killing it, Eaglewing thought it would have been entertaining to watch what fully happened but he had just lost focus at the moment of the catch. "I've seen a kit do better, but good for a kittypet. You need to stalk lower to the ground and time your pounces. Wait too long and the mouse will see you and run, wait too little and you'll miss your shot" the tom meowed cooly, chuckling to himself as he eyed the mangled mouse.

Tallulah purred at the thought as she trotted back over to Eaglewing’s side. She dropped the mouse and beamed,”Sounds awesome to me! I’m sure Hawk would be wonderful to meet. But here-“ The ginger molly nudged the mouse closer to Eaglewing and purred in addition,”You can take this to your group! Food is food, right? So long as they don’t have to beg like strays.”

Eaglewing just simply nodded as Tallulah mentioned his son. "Thank you Tallulah, our group is fine for prey currently but I will accept your offer. My mate and I shall protect you" he mewed trustingly as he picked the prey up in his jaws. "I'd love to teach you some more, but I need to get back to my kits soon" he added swiftly.

"Is there anything else you would like to know or learn? I can make it quick" he purred warmly. The old tom had soon grown affectionate towards the molly, even though they'd only known each other for a short while. He saw potential in her.

The ginger molly beamed as Eaglewing moved to take up her mouse in his jaws, her turquoise eyes sparkling brightly at the prospect of her first catch going to feed a bunch of babies- or at least the mother of said babies. Her failed swisher back and forth as she listened to the rest of what the older cat had to say.

She felt a bit bummed at his parting words. She knew that it made sense- he had only been out to hunt for his group and he’s only be returning with one mouse because of how he stopped to talk and tutor her, but Tallulah wanted to learn so much more. Despite this, she shook her wildly curly head and purred,”No problem. You hurry on back to your family. Just make sure to come back and visit again! I’ll make sure to practice the crouching technique you showed me so that next time, I’ll be able to help better, and then I can learn more!”

"I'll stop by on my next hunting trip, I'm sure you'll improve" he mewed as he looked into her beaming eyes, she sure was enthusiastic for a kittypet. The complete opposite of his mate, Mocha. She would just laze around all day and go to the twolegs for food. 

As the tom began to part ways with the molly, he turned his head over his shoulder and flashed a cocky grin, "See you some other time, beautiful" he purred confidently as his white pelt vanished into the forest.

The she-cat mirrored Eaglewing's grin with one of her own, flashing a bright smile with her ivory teeth glinting. There was a certain warmness she felt about her face as the tom complimented her- it wasn't uncommon as she was often told she was a pretty kind of cat, but simply too messy- but something about how the tom had said it made her cheeks flush and hot.

Tallulah watched as the rogue took off into the forest before she swished her tail and turned back to face the direction she had once come. As she dashed along the edges of the fences that lined the neighborhood, her heart and thoughts raced against once another. How exciting!! She couldn't believe she was going to be trained by a cat who grew up in the clans- Ivyclan no less!! Just wait till Longwing hears of this!!
