Barkfur nods in approval at all of Rainfur’s words, taking a few steps back. “It would seem we have the same goals, Rainfur. To make Shadowpaw’s life better, to contribute.” If Rain is done chasing she-cats and slacking off, then Bark has no quarrel with him. Literally, the only reason that Barkfur had any problems with Rainfur is that Rain harassed she-cats and didn’t pull his own weight. While Bark would be lying if he didn’t say he had some doubt that Rain would be able to keep up the attempt for long, Rainfur had already made noticeable progress. At the very least, the blue grey warrior had seemed to grow somewhat of a backbone. “If you are making an attempt, then I guess I don’t have to pester you anymore; that was my only problem with you: it didn’t look like you were trying. You should stand up for yourself more often, Rainfur. This was far more productive than the rest of our conversations.”
“You shouldn’t be so hard on yourself as for finding a mate. If you are done chasing she-cats, then you might find that they find you more likeable.” More than likely, all of their clanmates would find Rainfur more likeable if he stopped harassing everyone. “At the very least, you are more likeable than I am.” Barkfur says that in a monotone, rough tone, but he means it sarcastically…. Though both toms would likely agree that it’s true.
Barkfur turns to straight up leave, as he is satisfied with how this conversation went. As he had warned, if Rainfur ever hurt Shadowpaw in anyway, Rainfur would regret the day he was born…. Likely both Owlstar and Barkfur would make sure of that. But… if Rain was truly serious about all that, then he may actually make a decent cat for Shadowpaw to lean on. Barkfur is not against that at all. After only taking a couple steps, however, Barkfur looks over his shoulder back towards Rain, “Me and Shadowpaw have been going out hunting pretty often anymore. He’s been asking me if he can practice hunting with me; next time we go, I’ll see if you want to come with. Shadowpaw would like that.” That is literally the best that Bark knows how to do peacemaking. Plus, Shadowpaw would like that, very much so. Spending time with two of his favorite toms in the world (his first favorite is obviously his beautiful mate, but Bark and Rain are cool too), that would just make Shadow’s day.
