hemlock sighed as he dropped his belongings upon the hard, concrete floor of the station: a large clump of grass and a scrawny mouse he had managed to hunt down on his journey for a place to spend the night. he let out a soft cough and opened his mouth wide, jaw aching from the act of having to carry so much for such a long time... but he was safe now he had found somewhere to stay, even if it wasn't the nicest place in the world. he began to shove everything under a silver painted monster, and object he had chosen to hide beneath to keep himself secure- the sun had started to go down and the sky was becoming darker with each minute, thus it was becoming more dangerous for the young tom. his lack of ability to defend himself put him at a great risk of being attacked by other rogues wandering the area, he just hoped that none of them had claimed the land he currently occupied.

curling up slightly beneath the monster, hemlock began to glance cautiously around the area, his eyes becoming quickly tired but unwanting to close as he continuously checked that he was safe.

Unknown to the rogue, another tomcat was hiding out nearby, recently having woken from a nap in a trash can. This cat, of course, was the gravy-scented loner, and only tom of the possum posse; Paper Towel. His big brown eyes were glued to the scrawny looking tom, watching him with intense curiosity, and his cream colored ears were twitching more than usual, showing his excitement. He leaped down, his claws leaving tiny silver scratches on the dull metal. 
"EyI'mPaperTowel!" he chattered, wiggling under the monster, until he was very close to Hemlock.

hemlock's bright eyes widened significantly at the appearance and sound of a stranger as they leaped to stand before him. he quickly stood to a crouched position, the best he could achieve beneath the low ceiling created by the bottom of the monster, silver fur spiked up as he stared directly in to the rather strange-looking cat's brown eyes. his tail swished slightly before resting between his hind paws...

"hello..." he spoke rather slowly, still in a defensive position- he was alone with no idea of who this cat was or their abilities and intentions. but he did know that he didn't trust them.

Paper Towel smiled widely at Hemlock, despite the other cat's defensive posture. For just a moment, the young loner glanced down to Hemlock's paws, and his ear twitched. A scrawny mouse and grass? That was not much food to lvl on.
"Oh, wait here! I'llberightback!" 
In an instant, he had wiggled out from Hemlock's shelter, padding across the concrete. 
"ish ere somwrr." 
His voice was muffled as he sorted through piles of trash. There was a specific kind of treat he wanted to find. To his luck, these treats were easily identified by the large yellow M. 
"Here!"
Now, he was racing back, with a red cardboard thing between his teeth. A salty, stale scent wafted into his nostrils, but he ignored it. This food was not for him. 
"Eat this! It's gooooood!"
He plopped the paper thing in front of Hemlock, and crumbs of food spilled out.

hemlock furrowed his brows and raised the fur along his spine when the strangely scented cat began to look at the food he had found, his position defensive as he tried to protect his meal. he knew it was probably a rather silly thing to get annoyed over, but the young tabby simply didn't want to sleep on an empty stomach another night. he felt an instant relief as paper towel wriggled away from him and out of his sight into the darkness of the station, although he stayed standing as the other feline's voice still rung out.

slowly, he leaned down and took a bite out of the mouse, afterall it was much tastier than the grass he had found, and began to eat, hissing loudly when his acquaintance returned with a strange object, the revolting smell clouding his senses for a second and making him grimace as he hid his meal beneath his body, crouching above it slightly.

his yellow eyes widened significantly when paper towel dropped the object, crumbs of food spilling from it and on to the floor. he shook his head at the tom's request. hemlock didn't know this cat further than their name and the fact that they were one of the most annoying beings he had ever met, so why should he trust them? for all he knew, his acquaintance could be less idiotic than they seemed and plotting. he had no idea if the odd-looking cat had poisoned the 'food'- it smelled like nothing hemlock could identify, a fact that made him rather afraid. hemlock's only source of strength was his intelligence, so his lack of knowledge on what on earth the loner had placed before him filled him with nervousness, an emotion the tabby had not felt for quite a long time.

he simply shook his head and backed away slightly, moving his own possessions with him as he continued to eat the small rodent he had caught, only pausing to speak a few words, "why don't you eat it?" he requested, slanting his eyes at the loner.

Paper Towel tilted his head, large eyes narrowed in confusion. Why wasn't this cat eating the food? Food from the containers like this was good! I mean sure, it was no quesadilla, but it still made for a good snack. 
Maybe he just likes meat... Paper Towel guessed, watching the ragged tomcat shift away from him and his salty sticks of crunchy goodness. 
"why don't you eat it?"
Paper Towel stared unblinking at the nervous rogue for a few more minutes, before flicking his tongue out, picking up some of the salty crumbles that had fallen out. In his mind, this was a gourmet meal. They were just the right mix of flavor: salt, starch, and a tinge of asphalt. 
"Are ya sure you don't want any?" Paper Towel said again, snatching two more of the golden sticks. With a solitary fry hanging from his muzzle, he pushed the box towards Hemlock. 
"You. Should. Eat." He paused between each word, pushing the food closer to the rogue, until it was almost touching him.

Debris the Loner

The patter of unrefined pawsteps followed Paper Towel back from his food gathering expedition and echoed a fair bit behind him. Debris watched as he carried his snack under the monster. Pricking her ears, she strolled up to it and peeked under. Maybe we can share! Her brown eyes widened at the sight of the defensive stranger under there.

A dumbfounded look soon melted away into friendliness. "Heya!" she greeted the silver tom. At the same time, she leaned over to her brother and brushed up against his cheek. Eyeing the box in front of the rogue, she shuffled further under, where her tail wasn't in danger of being stepped on. "Are you Paper Towel's friend? I'm his sister Debris!"
She was clearly proud of this.

"Looks like you've got lots of food there, and some... plants?"
Tipping her head to the side, Debris purred softly. "Do you like plants? Our sister Socket likes plants."
She seemed unaware, or at least undeterred, by his hostile stance. On the contrary, she seemed excited to meet him.

Debris looked at Paper Towel again. "Did you bring that box with the yellow tabby marking for him?" she asked. "That's super nice!"
The she-cat looked at the unfamiliar cat expectantly. "Did you say thank you..?"
Deciding internally that he must have, if he was Paper Towel's friend, Debris went on to inquire, "What's your name?"

hemlock flinched when another strange-looking cat made an appearance, hissing silently when they began to speak to paper towel. this was way too much company and the young tabby was starting to feel rather crowded, secretly praying that the two would just get bored of him and run away.

he glanced quickly at paper towel before raising his brows at the she cat who had now introduced themselves as 'debris', "i am far from being a friend of either of you," he spoke lowly, bright eyes squinted as he backed away further. he had no clue why these two cats were possibly trying to poison him with what was now becoming familiar... he wasn't too sure exactly what they were feeding him, but he knew he had seen it in the paws of twoleg kits on many occasions.

soon debris was talking again and he nodded slowly, "you could say i like plants..." he paused, "some are nice, some aren't," he answered very briefly, trying to end the conversation with the two of them as fast as he could. "i'm hemlock," he introduced himself when asked, figuring by now that they probably didn't have the wits to be able to use his name against him. with that, he returned to his grass, eyes still staring at the two as he tried to silently decline their food, friendship, and company- he figured he was better off without them.

The second that Debris was under the car, Paper Towel was instinctively near her, his tail resting comfortably across her dark red shoulders. Everything was better when one of his sisters, or his other sibling, Stink, was beside him. After all, together they could do so many more things!
"Good day sis!"
His attentions quickly switched back to the rogue, who was still eyeing them distrustfully. Surely by now he would have taken a bite of the salty sticks of deliciousness!
"i am far from being a friend of either of you,"
This statement caused an immediate switch in the young tom. His ever-moving ears drooped, looking like a pair of wilting rose petals that were just hanging on. His head lowered, resting glumly on his paws. 
"Do you like plants? Our sister Socket likes plants."
Once again, the tomcat perked. This was a topic he could understand. 
"Yeah! She is always rolling around on leaves. Or sometimes she likes to chew them...Hey! Isn't Hemlock a plant?! Maybe Socks would like you!!!!"

Debris's mind stayed in chatting mode through Hemlock's reply and Paper Towel's reaction, too focused on what she was going to say to notice either of them. It was only when the words finally stopped flowing that she had to stop to process the toms' responses. She flicked one of her small ears.

A confused, hurt look briefly crinkled her features. Far from being our friend? She seemed to shrug it off. It would have been an entirely different matter if she had seen her brother's reaction, of course, but luckily he was fine again by the time she did glance over. Hemlock must just mean we're not friends yet. I can fix that!

Her ears pricked at Paper Towel's voice. "Hemlock is a plant?" she asked in surprise. After a heartbeat to process this, she purred. "I bet Socket would like you! I hope she wouldn't chew you, though."
Debris purred even louder and looked to Paper Towel as she suggested, "Should I go get her? She's probably 'round here somewhere!"

The odd food still on the ground caught her eye and held it for a moment, dragging her attention away from her sister. "Do you guys mind if I have some of those?"
The she-cat leaned forward and batted one softly with her paw. "I don't remember if I ate yet and I don't want you to get scared if my tummy accidentally growls!"
