Beetlekit

Beetlekit lay in the cottony protection of the nursery. The air was cold outside of her safe nest, so to stay warm, she nestled deep inside her bedding. It was surprisingly... quiet, but not too quiet. There were no noisy littermates, no paws shoving deep in her side from a brother or sister, or both, tossing and turning in their sleep. It was perfection.

However, the silence didn't last too long.

In a moment's notice, the kits began to race around the nursery. The sound of giggling and paws ensued, breaking the silence.
"Oh no," Beetlekit meowed, frowning a bit. Her calm place of solitude had quickly turned into a playground.

[Mama]

Waspkit was so happy to have her eyes open, and it wasn't a very good thing for the rest of the nursery. She had a bad habit of running around, terrorizing her siblings ( in a playful way ), and giving her mother a heart attack constantly. Currently, however, the little kit was trying her hardest to scale the walls. It wasn't working, however, due to the fact they were stone. Too bad...

As the she-kit lost focus she turned her head towards one of the spare piles of moss, and a grin grew on her face. With the mightiest battle cry she could summon up, Waspkit tackled the poor pile of bedding and began to reign madness over it. It was fun for her, shredding and biting the moss, but she ended up getting tangled in it and caught herself in a bundle. Her once neat pelt was quite a mess now, and she had fire flashing in her eyes as the kit continued to beat up the moss.

Like Beetlekit, Starlingkit wasn’t participating in the chaos that the other kits were causing. Instead, the small kit was sitting up as tall as she could, her fluffy tail wrapped around her small paws. Her cool gaze simply watches the other kits play, simply observing and taking in the noise. If she was larger, she might look majestic; currently though, she’s just kinda cute. As Waspkit begins to go insane, Starling just makes a note to not interact as much with that particular denmate.

Her eyes find Beetle; she’s a bit intrigued why the other kit isn’t playing with the others. Starling just doesn’t want to get her paws dirty or her fur ruffled, but she doesn’t know what Beetle’s excuse is. The young kit saunters over to her denmate; while she is still a bit of a clutz since she is pretty young, Starling watches her paws carefully as she tries hard to be the vision of grace. It’ll be a while before she is really a beauty, but someday she’ll be just as beautiful and graceful as her mother.

The smoky kitten settles back down into a sitting position next to Beetle. “You going to go play with them?” Starling mews, her pretty but squeaky voice soft as she asks. She doesn’t sound judgemental, merely curious.

"Play?" A nervous voice interrupted, having overheard Starlingkit. Milkkit carefully walked forwards, but not carefully enough - the blind kit crashing into Beetlekit thanks to his inability to see. One day he would work out how to use his other senses to know what was near him - for now, though, he was, well, blind.

Thankfully, Rookkit was quick to chase after his white brother. He'd taken it upon himself to be Milkkit's carer of sorts. After all, he needed to practise, right? He needed to know how to look after others for when he became the leader of the clan - because that would definitely happen one day; Rookkit was certain of it.

"It's okay, Milkkit. You don't have to play if you don't want to." Rookkit assured his brother, gently nudging the other away from Beetlekit a little so that he would not bump into her again. 

"Or we could play a gentler game, if you want?" Raccoonkit suggested as he joined the group. He didn't like the extremely rough games either most of the time. Sure, he joined in sometimes, but that was rare. Usually, the tortoiseshell preferred to sit on the sidelines with Milkkit while his other siblings played. Rookkit, on the other hand, loved any kind of game - but he'd still sit out of it meant he was helping his blind sibling.

Beetlekit

The young kit eyed the kits around her. Waspkit, her sister, was pouncing on some moss. She couldn't deny that Waspkit was the feisty one. Meanwhile, Beetlekit was the polar opposite. While Waspkit was outgoing and somewhat rowdy, Beetlekit was feeble and introverted, always following the rules and listening to her mother. Perhaps she was a bit too feeble.

“You going to go play with them?” Starlingkit purred. Beetlekit didn't socialize often, but she knew who the other kits were. Starlingkit was Owlstar's daughter. She was, like Waspkit, outgoing, but in her own way.

"Ummm..." Beetlekit whispered. It was just about the only word she could get out as she began to shiver in anxiety.

"Play?" Beetlekit turned her head to Milkkit, her brother, barreling right at her. "Owch..." Beetlekit whimpered, becoming victim to her brother's clumsiness. He couldn't help it, because he couldn't see. Of all of her siblings, she felt at comfort most with Milkkit, because while they didn't look very alike, they were alike in their interest of solitude. Along with Milkkit were Rookkit and Raccoonkit, her other brothers. Beetlekit supposed they were all going to play a game... she hoped to Starclan that she didn't have to be included... her nest was very comforting.

[M'Lady]

Owlkit wasn't one for standing around and chatting like the others. She huffed as she looked upon them, wondering where all their energy had gone. To her, it seemed like she had loads. She glanced over at Waspkit, a grin coming to her face as her eyes sparked with interest. Crouching into a sloppy hunters crouch she'd seen one of the apprentices do, she crept forward as quietly as she could. Thankfully, Waspkit wouldn't be able to hear her over her own ruckus. When her ripping of the moss slowed, Owlkit took her chance.

She leaped as far as her little legs could, with a screech that would've terrified warriors on the battlefield had it not been so high pitched. Her momentum bowled Waspkit over, sending the two of them tumbling in a heap of moss and dust. A laugh escaped her throat as they did so, going to pin down her sister as best she could. A triumphant gleam entered her eyes. "Try fighting a real enemy instead of just moss!" She squeaked, tail lashing behind her.

[Mama]

Waspkit fluffed up with surprise, giving a squeal. In her bondage, she attempted to swat at her sister, but caused herself to roll around even more. "Hey!" The calico cried, her tail wiggling around happily. As she figured out that it was too hard to try to swipe at her, as the moss was trapping her, she started to squirm much like a fish, flopping around wildly.

The kitten giggled happily, causing a bit of the dirt to cover her and her sister, not really noticing the other kits attempting to be clean. Oh well, less fun for them.

Watching Owlkit and Waspkit play, Rookkit couldn't resist joining in anymore. "You wait here, okay?" He said to Milkkit, gently nuzzling his brother for a second. "Raccoonkit and Beetlekit will look after you." Starlingkit too, surely. Why would anyone at all in the nursery be cruel to the poor, blind kit? Sure, he couldn't join in as much with their games, but that didn't mean that he wasn't deserving of kindness too.

"Are you going to come back?" Milkkit nervously asked in return. Abandonment was one of his biggest fears. Being blind, he worried about everyone just running away from him one day and leaving him alone without his knowledge. Not that they would actually do that, right? That would be a really horrible thing to do.

"I'll always come back. I just want to play for a bit."

"O-Okay..." And with that confirmation from his brother, Rookkit ran off to join his siblings.

"Don't worry, Waspkit! I'll protect you!" He laughed, leaping right at Owlkit and attempting to wrestle her off their sister. "You can't stop me, Owlkit! I'm too strong!"
