The kits in the nursery were getting big now and, thanks to the sheer number of them, it was rather uncomfortable to spend time in there. Because of that, a lot of the kits had taken to running around camp. Rookkit was no exception. He was quickly making a name for himself as a nuisance that would stalk warriors, claming that he was only trying to learn from them.

Today's target was Wolfclaw. The deputy was a favourite of Rookkit's because of both his position and formidable appearance. One day, he wanted to be just like him. Obviously he wanted to be like his father, Blackheart, more, but there was nothing wrong with adding a little extra to your aims, right?

With a small, very kit-esque yowl, Rookkit threw himself at the deputy of IvyClan - tackling his legs with sheathed paws before rolling away again. Dust and dirt now covering his pelt, the kit scrambled to his feet and rushed back to Wolfclaw's side, pressing up against him as wide eyes looked up to meet the other's.

"Do you want to fight me, Wolfclaw?" Rookkit asked with a sweet, innocent voice. "If I win, I get to be deputy. If you win, you keep the position."

The massive deputy padded through the camp, specifically in the direction of the fresh-kill pile. His stomach growled for food, and he had been hunting a lot lately for his Clan, so he elected to get a meal for himself. Grabbing a somewhat large mouse, the male stepped little ways off from the prey pile before laying down, his sharp teeth digging into the rodent carcass. He finished it in only a few bites and was soon to his feet, hoping to maybe take out a border patrol or something. Maybe take Briarfrost out on one. At a small, kit yowl, Wolfclaw's ears flicked and he looked around, just in time to see a determined Rookkit charging at him, throwing himself at the larger tom's legs. Rookkit was Blackheart's son, and Blackheart was a respectable warrior. Rookkit no doubt wanted to be the same, and most likely wanted the title of deputy. Plus, he was a kit, and they always wanted to be leader, or something. He looked down at the kit, still on his paws as Rookkit's actions hadn't been enough to knock him down. The tom's fierce yellow eyes met the kit's as he looked at him, amusement shining in his bright gaze, especially as the kit spoke. He looked taken aback, and a chuckle escaped his maw as he looked at the young tom, who had just asked to fight. But what was more interesting, was the prize to the winner, and the punishment to the loser. The position of deputy. One thing was certain, there was no way he was going to fight a kit, not really at least. Of course. No one ever actually fought them when it came to these little battles, games were what they really were.  "Oh really?" he asked as he rose to his full height, staring down at the kit, a brow raised and a specific glint in his eyes, playful but also something else. Drawing his tongue across his maw, he nodded, padding away and beginning to somewhat pace, tail moving on point behind him, before he crouched, muscles flexing and tail lashing. "You're on."

Yes! Brilliant! Rookkit wiggled excitedly as he crouched down into what he believed was a fighting stance. He was going to win this and become deputy, and then he just needed to wait until Owlstar retired and he could become leader. Blackheart would be really proud of him then, wouldn't he? He'd be the best kit of the litter and he could make sure the clan was safe. Even Milkkit would be safe and he was blind.

Oh, this was going to be great!

After wiggling again, Rookkit pounced - tiny claws launching at the massive deputy. The kit wasn't going to do any major damage. He was nearly an apprentice, yes, but he wasn't anywhere near full grown yet. To be honest, even at his maximum size it was unlikely that he would be a match for Wolfclaw. He had Blackheart's genetics, yes - and his father was a larger warrior - but the deputy was something else. 

Having no fighting training at all, the kit didn't really know what to do. He'd asked his father (as well as some other warriors) questions about battle techniques before but it was hardly like he'd actually learnt anything that he knew how to put into action. Maybe, uh... Maybe if he got onto Wolfclaw's back? Yes! That seemed like a good idea!

Rookkit began trying to clamber up the deputy's side, making small "grr"s as he moved.
