Shadepaw was doing absolutely terrific. Of course terrifically awful. 



The Bengal apprentice had finally woken up and started to move around since being dragged back to camp, half dead, and was dragged back of course with the dead deputy. It had already been a moon, or so, and she'd finally got a glimpse of the new camp. Taking some of the vile herbs left out for her to eat daily, she tasted the bitterness in her throat as she opened her eyes. The first thing she noticed was seeing only half the den, and she turned her head with confusion. 'Why isn't my other eye working?" She asked herself, before stiffening up. Slowly, her gold paw worked its way up her face, and softly touched the missing skin, and her lost eye. 

Shadepaw knew this was most likely why her vision was odd, and as she continued past the searing pain from the touch she felt the base of her ear... or what was left. The hairs on her spine bristled up, and she shot up with a loud screech of terror. Her eye darted around wildly, and she felt another pain, this time by her rear. Turning her head, she tried to see the source, which was coming from her tail. The stub was oddly chopped off, and the apprentice gave another loud cry of shock. 

"WHERE IN THE NAME OF STARCLAN IS MY TAIL? WHAT AM I DOING HERE?" She yowled out, darting back and forth with panic as she bumped off the walls. Each hit made her yelp, and Shadepaw frantically scurried out with her rear tucked under her. 

She wasn't used to the rocks, her vision, or really anything, and the adrenaline-filled Shadepaw slid back and forth, screeching and acting as if her head was chopped off. Well, of course she did have some of it slightly missing.

Silverfang winces as she hears the screech of her patient, a patient that could only be Shadepaw. The poor apprentice had been ravaged by a bear; Silver isn’t really all that surprised to hear the apprentice freak out when she comes to. The medicine cat flattens her ears as she pokes her head out of her den. “Shadepaw!” Silver calls out to the panicking apprentice, her voice plenty loud enough that Shade should be able to hear her but with no stern tone, only concern.

Silverfang tries to approach the wild young cat; Silver tries hard to stay within Shadepaw’s sight, avoiding Shade’s blind spots so as to not freak out the apprentice more by appearing or disappearing seemingly at random. “Shadepaw, calm down- you are just gonna hurt yourself this way. I can get you something for pain if you would like some. I can explain what happened, just calm yourself please.” Silver mews; she doesn’t want Shade bumping into more things or falling into the water or something and getting hurt worse.

As her name was called, the apprentice freaked out more, her paws wildly flailing as she slid on the rocks. The blurry vision of a cat appeared, and the figure flickered in and out of her sight but seemed to remain unmoving.

“Shadepaw, calm down- you are just gonna hurt yourself this way. I can get you something for pain if you would like some. I can explain what happened, just calm yourself please.” The hazy figue said, and her ear pinned back with slight worry. "Where is the camp? Why in the name of Starclan is half my face missing!? Why can't I see!?" She screeched, her tail quivering with anger. "Is this some freaky allusion to keep me in camp?" Shadepaw snapped.


In the panic, her weak legs which were numbed due to her not walking for quite a bit, collapsed under her and left the she-cat flipping around like a fish out of water for a moment, before hitting her missing face against the stones and quickly recoiling into a shaking ball. "I want to wake up! Let me wake up!"

Silverfang’s ears go back in sympathy as Shadepaw screeches at her then collapses in a sad, scared ball, pleading to wake up. Silverfang's injuries were not nearly as bad as Shade's, but she had probably said something very similar, reacted in a very similar way (except she had been completely unable to walk) after she broke her leg, back when she was a young apprentice.

“Shadepaw. It’s me, Silverfang. You are in MistClan’s new camp. You were badly injured in an attack, but you are safe now.” Silver takes a cautious step towards Shade, her expression twisted in emotional pain as she watches this apprentice go through this. “Come back to my den. I’ll give you something for the pain; I can help you if you can’t walk.” Silver repeats in a soft voice.

[Mama]

"Why aren't we at the old camp? Where are we? This - This isn't a dream?" Shadepaw choked out, looking up. She couldn't remember anything, most likely just from the trauma, but could faintly recall blood and a face. But who's face was it?

Her golden eye was twisted with agony, her functioning side of her face in a look of terror and fear. “Come back to my den. I’ll give you something for the pain; I can help you if you can’t walk.” Silverfang mewed, and she dug her claws into the dirt. Her ear pinned back still, and her tail tucked under her, she got to her unsteady paws and once again looked for her tail. It felt as if she was missing something, and the apprentice couldn't stand very well, and her vision was as shaky as her limbs.

“Do you remember us leaving our old camp? There was a great fire that destroyed it, so we were forced to leave along with IvyClan.” Silverfang explains. “Sadly, this isn’t a dream.” Silver isn’t going to lie to the apprentice or try to reassure her and tell her that everything is fine. Things are clearly not fine and saying that everything will be okay is nothing less than ridiculous.

As Shadepaw tries to find her paws, Silverfang moves to the apprentice’s side so that Shade can lean on her if need be. The medicine cat will try to steer the two of them back to her den, hopefully all the way back to Shadepaw's nest in the medicine cat den. Silverfang isn't gonna leave Shade's side to go get some poppy seeds for her until Silver is sure that Shade is safe in that nest.

Shadepaw turned her head towards the medicine cat, trying to see her before giving up and trying to focus on the path infront of her. Left paw, right paw, left paw. She repeated those as if she was little kit, and the Bengal grew frustrated with it quite quickly before hissing to herself. Her face had grown sore again, and the raw flesh was starting to bleed from under the cobwebs again, creating a rather annoying sticky sensation. 

The hairs along her spine bristled up as they continued to pad into the den, and she slowly sat down in the nest she'd been sleeping in... for how long now? It had been at least a solid moon, maybe more, that the apprentice had been in the den. She didn't really move much, hardly breathed, and only woke up to eat before passing back out. 

Shadepaw remembered nothing though, and even the simple thoughts made her mind fuzzy.

Silverfang feels a bit better as she sees the apprentice settle back into the nest; Shadepaw isn’t in a pure panic anymore, which is significant progress. As Shadepaw steps into the nest, Silver turns and walks further into the den. Luckily, Nightfur and Ravenwing discovered that poppies are plentiful in the meadow, so she has plenty poppy seeds stored away. Silver grabs a couple of the poppy seeds before returning to Shadepaw. She sets the seeds right in front of the young apprentice before backing off a little bit, sitting down a couple tail lengths from Shadepaw’s nest.

“Those will help.” Silver mews helpfully. “I can answer most questions you have; you’ve been asleep for a long time. If you need anything, just let me know. Are you hungry?” The medicine cat just wants to help; she’s eager to be of service.

Shadepaw looked towards the seeds dully, before lapping them up. They crunched in her teeth like dirt, but quickly slid down her throat. “Those will help.” The medicine cat said as she swallowed them, before continuing on. “I can answer most questions you have; you’ve been asleep for a long time. If you need anything, just let me know. Are you hungry?”


The Bengal looked towards her belly, oddly not feeling hunger. Maybe it was just the fact she didn't really move around. "I can get something to eat after." She muttered, keeping her eyes low. "But.. how long was I asleep for? And what even happened?" Shadepaw asked, flopping cautiously onto her side before finally letting her eye meet Silverfang.

“You were asleep for about a moon.” Silver replies gently. “There was a great fire that destroyed both our territory and IvyClan’s. Both clans left the mountain together, but part of the way through our journey, there was a large earthquake. You were separated from the rest of us; that’s when you were wounded. A warrior brought you back to us. It’s been a moon since then; since the earthquake, we have found new territories. MistClan’s camp is hidden behind a waterfall.” Silver tries to fill Shade in on some of the events that Shade may not remember. Larger things like MothClan are better left for when Shade perhaps feels a bit better and can think a little clearer.

There are a couple small piles of unsorted herbs to one side in the den. Silverfang has been more preoccupied with gathering herbs than sorting them, so the den isn’t as organized as it usually would be. That will likely be remedied soon, though; Silverfang pulls a pile closer to her with one paw and begins to absentmindedly sort through it, though most of her attention stays on her young patient.
