[ti]Open[/ti]Water Grey, Like An Ocean Everywhere

Wildstep left the cave and ran to the nursery. He had to get his sister and her kits out as well as Dawnpetals kits. He saw Owlkit on the back of one cat glad to see someone was taking care of his sister and her kits. So decided to leave his Silvermist and her kits to the others. "Petalkit, Maplekit, Pumpkinkit," he yowled. He spotted Petalkit but she was dashing away from him. "Maplekit, Pumpkinkit where are you?" Unable to find either he turned back to Petalkit and saw her helping someone else. So instead he went to his sister. "Here I'll get Gourdkit. I saw Owlkit with someone else you just take care of Webkit." Once his sister put the three on his back he turned and headed out of the nursery. The water was up to his belly once he got into the clearing he had to half swim half walk.


Silvermist nodded her head as Buckleap told her she should be ok she just had to get her kits out. Sh watched as Buckleap took Spiderkit She was about to tell her other kits to climb on her back when her brother came over. "Oh thank you Wildstep." She picked Gourdkit up and set him on Wildsteps back. "Hang onto your uncle Wildstep ok. He's going to get you somewhere safe. I'll join you outside the cave. Hang on with all your strength." With that, she bowed her head and picked up Webkit and began to follow her brother. She was terrified but she had to be brave for her children.


Webkit let out a cry as her siblings were taken from her and put on Wildsteps back. "Mommy I'm scared," she cried just as her mother plucked her up next. She dangled from her mother's mouth and didn't fight to get free.

Maplekit looked around the water was up to his stomach. He heard someone tell him to follow them out and began to follow them. As he walked the path by the waterfall he felt the earth disappear from under his back left paw. Maplekit began to slide and let out a yowl as his body fell into the pool where the waterfall poured into. He couldn't figure out which way was up or down. At one point his head broke the surface for a moment and he took in a deep breath before he was sent under again.

Pebbleshade padded along a gently-worn path, one a bit out of the way of the usual patrols. A finch was clasped in his jaws and for once his mind was clear. No need to think about the battle at the Gathering. No need to think about the cats scrambling to escape near the end of it, or the wet blood soaking his paws, or how his apprentice could beat him in a fight. His clanmates were sleeping peacefully in camp and he was getting a head start on the day with a good hunt.

But now, as he drew closer to camp, thoughts were starting to seep in. They were almost like memories, actually. Vivid ones. The rushing blood in his ears and the screeches of his clanmates... but now they were shouting about a flood, and he didn't remember that. His ears flattened. The finch fell through his teeth and thumped softly to the ground, where he stepped over it and began to run toward camp.

"What's happening?" he asked fearfully as he reached the cats flooding out and saw the water flooding down even harder around them. "What's wrong? What can I do?"

Inside of the cave, Buckleap saw some hare-brained kit trying to swim back to the nursery. His eyes widened in disbelief until another kit came to help and he blinked a few times to make sure what he was seeing was real. He took a deep breath, then lifted one paw and pushed the kits in the right direction, coming up behind them so that they didn't slip back.

To Murk-kit’s dismay, his friend, Petalkit, had come to his ‘rescue’ and had latched onto his scruff, pulling him away from the nursery. He needed to go to the nursery! He needed to be sure Hawthornkit and Nettletooth were okay! At first, he struggled against Petalkit’s grip, but then he began to suspect that his mother and sister had already made it out of the nursery.

He growled, “Okay.” And followed her instructions to kick with his legs in order to stay afloat. It worked, and they both eventually made it out of the cave with the help of an older cat.

Meteorfall and Cloverwing had also safely made it out of the cave and were checking around to make sure most of their Clanmates had as well. Ashleaf was still in the cave, helping more of the kits and queens out.

[Mama]

Halfkit was pulled away in the stampede of cats, his ears flattened back fearfully. He declined being carried: he was too large, and he could walk a bit easier through the forming rapids. The split colored tom crept along, before hearing a familar yowl. A tom named Maplekit, around the same age as him, seemed to be stuck in the rapids. Glancing back to the warriors, who were hauling themselves and others out, he took matters into his own hands and suddenly lept into the currents. 

It was rough and battered his body around, his head going under once and then twice, rocks smacking off his side. Something fuzzy bumped against his chest before he was pulled under. Sinking his jaws into the fur, grabbing his scruff, he forced himself to the surface.

The giant feline could hardly see, mud, water, and stones rushing around, however he caught a hold of the bank with his claws, and threw Maplekit onto the shore. The tom lost his grip, going spinning under and smacking off a stone, before resurfacing and dragging himself into the lower water. He had a few bruises and some open wounds, drenched in mud, but the adrenaline knocked out the pain as he started to frantically groom Maplekit to see if he was conscious.

Falconstrike had rushed out of the camp, along with Petaleyes.

Venomkit was brought to safety by her father, Sabletail.

Spiderkit wailed as he was dragged out of the nursery on a cat, screeching for his mother and trying to claw the feline he was on. "Let me go! Mama! Mama!!!"

Pumpkinkit was fast asleep, the tom stirring when water started to pool in the den, however, at the frantic nudging, he got to his paws with a yawn. "What's going on?"

Silvermist was still in the caves, she wanted to make sure all of her kits got out before she left. She saw Halfkit leave and let out a sigh of relief. She could hear Spiderkit wailing for her from up ahead so she knew he was getting taken to safety. That left Owlkit and she had no idea where he was just that her brother had seen Owlkit with someone. She scanned the area looking. Spiderkit, Gourdkit, Owlkit, and Halfkit were all taken care of. Now she had to get Webkit and herself out to safety. As she was padding along the trail that was under water beside the fall she felt someone shove past her causing her to lose her grip. She felt herself slipping and let out a cry and quickly set her kit on the path before she slipped into the pool. She was shoved under water and smashed against a couple rocks but she surfaced and scrambled back up panting for breath. "Well that wasn't part of the plan." Her teeth began to chatter but she picked Webkit back up and picked up her pace until she and her kit were safely up on high ground.


Maplekit felt a rock smash into the side of his face causing him to gasp. Blackness swarmed over his eyes as unconsciousness claimed him. He expected to wake up in Starclan but instead, he started to cough up lung full after lung full of water as someone licked him. He groaned to weak to get up and walk. "Ugh," he groaned.

Wildstep emerged from the cave and headed up to high ground. There he stood and waited keeping watch for his sister and her remaining kits. "How are you doing Gourdkit are you ok?"

Webkit felt her mom slipping, the next thing she knew she was standing on the stone path with water up to her chest fur. "Mom.... mom... MOMMY?" A moment later her mom burst from the pool of water and climbed back up beside her. "Are you ok mommy?" She cried out as she was once more picked up.

Hawthornkit splashed around in the nursery, dodging warriors and insisting they took the smaller, weaker kittens. "Brother! Murk-kit!" she called into the caves, but all the noise was drowning her small voice out. She managed to conclude that he couldn't still be in the nursery, though, rushing outside and staring moon-eyed at everything. "Murk-kit!" her voice was twinged with deep concern, pitch heightened with worry as she scanned the water for someone about her height, searching for that unique pelt he had. She breathed out with relief as she spotted him, struggling to wade back into the cave and being blocked by pesky warriors and apprentices and kits. "Brother, I'm here!" the furry grey she-cat yowled, half-hopping half-running forward as the water dragged at her thick fur.

Orchidpaw had run out of the apprentice den to guide some cats out, hissing in frustration at them, "Hurry up! You got logs for legs or what?" Darting back in, it was mostly empty by now, save for the body of one of her fellows- Currantpaw. Her sister. Stunned tears welled up in her eyes. "C'mon sis," she murmured, taking her by the scruff and dragging her out. She was going to get a proper burial. Cottonpaw and Birchpaw could be traitorous foxes all they wanted, Currantpaw was still dear to her. She yearned for her sister to snap at her quietly, try to growl and walk away, even though she knew she wouldn't. This couldn't have been an accident, she was sure of it in her heart, but the water made it impossible to know who did it. She'd never know, would she? Shut up idiot, she chided herself, stomping through the water to go faster and evade her thoughts.

[Mama]

Halfkit paused as Maplekit started to breath, and he swiftly picked the feline back up, bringing him to safety on a high part of the camp, where a few others had already evacuated at. He flopped him down, before turning back towards the camp.

He didn't really notice the pain of the rocks that beat against him, and the cuts, until he calmed down for just a moment. Shakily, he took a few steps fowards, before just flopping over into the snow. He was shivering violently, the cold weather and the pain he never felt before, along with the smell of blood had him in fear. His eyes pinched shut, and he took heavy breaths. Was his family okay? What was going on? He was so cold, so sore...

 Cactusleap was not doing well getting out. His pawsteps kept slipping, and the water rose towards him as he tried to make sure he didn't fall into the pool.

The sandy colored she-cat moved outside, taking count of who was out and who wasn't yet, pausing when she noticed the large kitten fallen over in the snow. Trotting over, the snow forming thin layers of frost on her fur as it made contact with her damp skin, she paused at his side and sniffed at him. He'd probably be okay, but he needed to be looked after for a bit, at least. "Halfkit," she murmured, settling in next to him and reaching a paw towards Maplekit as well, "you'll be okay, now. Just take it easy, big guy."

[Dragon]

Silvermist reached her brother and set her daughter down beside him. "Watch them I'm going to go in search of my other kits." Without waiting for a reply she darted off scanning the area around her. That's when she spotted Halfkit lying on the ground soaked to the bone and... was that blood? She let out a panicked cry and raced to her son and curled her body around him as best she could and began to lick his fur the wrong way. "What happened, are you ok? Oh, my poor sweet son." Silvermist began to lick him to clean the mud and grass off of him so the Medicine Cat could see to his injuries when they got the chance. She really should be caring for herself as well but she didn't bother to clean the mud from her fur or her cuts. And the freezing cold air began to frost over her sopping wet pelt. But she ignored the cold and the pain and the exhaustion so she could care for Halfkit.

[Mama]

Shaking frantically, he seemed to freak out more at the touches, thinking the current got him before he realized it was two other cats against him. The tom gave a shaky breath, followed by another one, and another. His thin fur was forming frost, covered in bile mud and he had a few wounds along his body.


His eyes opened for a second, before spacing out and rolling back into his skull, and his eyes closed. He had passed out from shock, the giant kitten exhausted and lost.
