IvyClan had just returned from the gathering and Rookstar had something playing on his mind. Not his usual headache (though that did still exist, as it always did, in the back of his head), but some comments that the other leaders had said to him when he had spoken with them. Because of that, the young leader decided that it was in his best interest to quickly call a clan meeting before everybody crawled off to bed.
"May all cats old enough to climb the rock face gather underneath the High Ledge for a clan meeting!" He was careful to use the exact same words that Owlstar would have, his voice travelling across the camp. While Rookstar waited for his clanmates to gather, he let his ears twitch in irritation. Once again, the pain in his head was becoming irritating. Perhaps he would go and see his sister about it tomorrow. She was the medicine cat, so she would know what to do - right?
"It is time for me to decide who will be my deputy. I am aware that this decision has come late, but I think that StarClan will understand why. I had to think; I couldn't make the decision straight away. I- I-" He wasn't ready. Rookstar's eyes dropped to the ground for a moment, almost ashamed of himself. Owlstar wouldn't be proud of him right now, would she? But she would be even less proud if he didn't continue...
"I have decided that my deputy will be Creeksong."
Creeksong was older and wiser, and he didn't take part in any nonsense. Yes... He was just what Rookstar needed. Someone with actual experience, who could guide him in the right direction when needed.
The tom waited for the clan's cheers to die down before he continued to speak. "Furthermore, I have been thinking recently. I don't want outsiders in IvyClan. After all, how can we trust their loyalty? If they are not IvyClan born, then they have loyalties that lie elsewhere, no? This is not acceptable; our warriors should be able to rely upon one another." Just like Owlstar should have been able to rely upon him...
No. Best not to think of that. It made his head hurt even more when he did.
"With that in mind, while those that are already here may stay, I want no more outsiders on our territory. Not even kits. Any cats that are not full IvyClan blood have no place here." Owlstar would be proud of his words, right? He was protecting the clan from betrayal! Yes... Yes, Rookstar was certain that she would approve.
His ear flicked in annoyance once more at a jolt of pain that ran through his skull, but Rookstar managed to school his expression so that there was no other sign of it. Right... Now, how did he end the meeting? Ah...
"That is all. Thank you for listening." There. Perfect.
