Adderpaw looked back at his companion with a bit of confusion. Why was he panicking? The young tom knew nothing but confidence, so uncertainty was not an emotion he was used to sensing. He tilted his head to the side and looked at Applepaw’s form. Everything about it seemed fine. He rolled his eyes with a smile. ”It’s easy, watch me,” he said nonchalantly, not moving forward. He looked down at the ground beneath him and it seemed to stretch before his very eyes. They were both at a height where they’d have to be careful, unless they planned on visiting the medicine cat’s den afterwards. He hated the way those herbs smelled; it was much too concentrated to be in one den. Bringing his attention back to the matter at hand, Adderpaw eyed where he would be landing as a demonstration for Applepaw. There was a nice little pile of weeds that grew towards the base of the tree. It wasn’t the cushiest place to land on, but it would have to do.
”So this is how you—“ Just as Adderpaw began, his forepaw slipped out underneath him and he furiously began to scratch at the branch he was on. His flurry of movement proved to worsen the situation and he tumbled out of the tree and right onto the patch of weeds with an audible thump. Looking and feeling like a crumpled mess, Adderpaw slowly rose to his paws. His hind leg wiggled a bit as he did this and he winced slightly. He could feel a bruise beginning to form on his ankle but otherwise, no real harm was done. As if he meant to fling himself out of the tree, Adderpaw licked the dust off of his shoulder and looked back up with a wise expression.
”Like so.” His chin was held high and a dandelion puff stuck out from the tuft of fur on his forehead. Hopefully his act was convincing enough for Applepaw to see it as a graceful descent instead of a complete accident. ”Even a kit could do it.”
