"Cats of all clans old enough to cross the waterfall gather here for a clan meeting!"
Sablestar smiled down from his perch as he watched many a pair of eyes rove their way up to him, eyes from all sorts of clans. He wore a familiar look of satisfaction as he settled into a comfortable position; the pride of a father. Call it bizarre, but the tom felt an odd sense of glee from the idea of being able to act as a sort of linchpin to the majority of the clans in the surrounding territories. Bringing together Mist, Moth, and Root. Secretly, he felt about as giddy as a budding apprentice again.
Swallowing his excitement as those gathered took their seats, Sablestar gave a sunny, rumbling purr. ”Firstly, praise Starclan!! For looking after Mothclan and Rootclan and guiding them to safety from the clutches of death. While it may have come as a great surprise to us, Mistclan is honored to assist their ancestors into maintaining the forest.” He did his best to ignore the occasional cross look from those among his own clan.
”Now, what’s better at bringing cats together than seeing the growth of their future?! I welcome both our neighbors to share in our ceremony; I would hope that you’d show our newest apprentices and warriors the same support as your own ad they take their first steps.” After all, these would be the cats to carry on the legacy of their clan, and with it any capacity to be both enemy or ally. Which cats took to power would greatly impact how they would carry on living in peace.
”I’m sorry apprentices,” the tabby meowed as he scanned across the clearing to find the many faces of his clan’s trainees, a sympathetic smile on his face. ”I know your den is nearly bursting from all sides with none ready to be named warriors, but you’ll have to bear with your two newest denmates. Today our dear late Bearstar’s kits will be initiated as warrior apprentices before Starclan. May she watch proudly down on us; Lakekit and Robinkit, please step forward!”
”Lakekit, you are just a bundle of energy and ever-spirited as I’ve seen you around camp. Plenty of energy is wonderful to have, but it can often be hard to tame. You will need the dedicated mind of a mentor to help form that energy of yours into something you can be proud of as a warrior. Flametail, you will mentor Lakepaw. You have always been a cat dedicated to your cause and I trust you will teach her well.” He paused briefly to allow the summoned apprentice and warrior to touch nosed and get acquainted before carrying on
”And Robinkit. My dear boy, you have a keen sense of duty, I’ll grant you that, but you seem to lack the proper motivation a warrior has to keep moving on ahead. That, and you’re easily distracted. I’m certain you’ll find all the time to hone your talents and training alike in Saltweed’s company. She’s a strict one, but once you reach warriorhood, Robinpaw, I have no doubt you’ll be one of Mistclan’s bests.”
Puffing up his chest and standing taller, Sablestar roared out, ”Let’s hear it for Lakepaw and Robinpaw!! Tomorrow will be filled with all sorts of adventures and lessons, so make sure to celebrate tonight with your new peers. Thank you, everyone!” And with that, the rufoused tabby sprang down from his spot above the others, dispensing into the crowd to mingle with those nearby.
