The tension seemed to grow as he cleared his voice, her half expecting for him to say something else. However, when he admitted to being close enough and confirming the love, she burst out in loud purrs and her gaze sweetened towards him. "O-oh Wolfclaw!" Briarfrost mewed, her ears perking up before she pressed close against the huge deputy.

She had always thought the feeling was stupid, or one sided, that a cat like him could never love a frail feline like her. They were completely different! He was brave and strong, a brilliant fighter, while she was tiny and much better at hunting then defensive moves. Ever since the first walk though, she felt something click inside, and it seemed to be hungry for more and more. Without realizing it, Briarfrost had started to cry tears of pure joy.

"I-I love you, I love you," She repeated, her voice growing more happy each time she mewed it, as she leaned back to meet his golden and beautiful eyes once again. The words were so easy, and she felt like a weight was lifted off of her chest. She was free, she was happy, and for once.. Briarfrost had found a connection, love.

The colossal tom looked down at her and his head moved backward, ever so slightly, in surprise as the much smaller feline suddenly pressed into him, her expression that of pure joy. Which, he had to admit, made him feel a bit... glad... that she was no longer sad, or scared. That she was happy. Left ear flicking, Wolfclaw took a seat as she was once more almost enveloped in his soft chest fur, her tears staining said gray pelt as she repeated the words of love. He allowed one large paw to raise, resting on her as gently as could be, while also seeming to embrace her. He would have used both, but the weight of both his large paws would be a bit much for Briarfrost. He couldn't help how much his limbs weighed, but he could keep them from smushing her. The feeling was... Not bad. He knew, now, that the emotion he felt for the beautiful, short-furred female was love. The signs had been clear. Over-protective, allowed himself to hang out with her, etc. But, after avoiding close relationships for so long and caring only for his cousin Owlstar and now her beautiful kits, it had been hard to accept such a thing. He feared he'd turn to be a bad tom to her and, if he was to have kits at some point, a bad father. But he couldn't put off such feelings for long until they made him long for more, whether it be more of her presence, or else. He cleared his throat. StarClan, this was hard to say. "Briarfrost... Will you be my mate?" he asked, his yellow gaze meeting her's as he asked the question that he had never before thought would come out of his mouth.

Between her happy mews, she could feel a weight press on her back, however it was large and very soft. She could quickly tell it was his paw, and her tail curled up and twirled around with joy. Her tiny paws seemed to barely show against his pelt, and Briarfrost almost absorbed into his thick, grey and black pelt. His scent filled her mind and her purrs only grew more, before the deputy's voice broke the silence.

"Briarfrost," Wolfclaw started, as she gazed up to meet his eyes. "Will you be my mate?"

"I-I would love too!" Briarfrost purred out, her eyes filling with a passionate love as they met his. "You make me the happiest she-cat to ever live!" The feline meowed, before moving a bit closer as she tucked her head under his chin affectionately. She felt complete now, and felt whole. Was he her missing piece the whole time?

Wolfclaw couldn't help but smile as the female accepted, becoming his mate in that moment. So quick. She was his mate now. Wow. It was hard to comprehend that some cat was his mate, that some cat loved him. Or, more surprisingly, that he loved some cat, like that at least. He purred softly. It was barely able to be heard, but still able to be heard nonetheless. He felt happy at her statement, that she was the happiest she-cat to live because of him. And, as her head went to tuck under his chin, his own rather large head moved and rubbed against her's, in an affectionate way common to their species. Soon, his head moved over her's, making her's end up tucked under his anyway. Oh, StarClan. He didn't know how to do this, how to be a good mate. Of course, he'd try, but he didn't really know how to. It's not like his father gave him the perfect example of how to treat your mate. What was obvious from the start was that he'd be protective, since he was already a protective tom, which had been evident from some cases, such as him being over-protective of Owlstar, or her kits. Oh, and another example of said over-protectiveness was with Briarfrost. He had been furious, and still was, when he heard what Mothstar had done to her.
