Rivershine was sat in camp, sitting out in the warmth of the sun after a productive morning patrol. Rivershine really enjoyed morning patrols- she liked watching the sun as it slowly rose, and the feeling of the dew that clung to her fur as she stalked through the grass. This patrol, however, had been a bit more exhausting than the others; Scorchpaw and several other apprentices had tagged along with the patrol, apparently wanting to practice their skills after being taught some hunting techniques by their mentors. Rivershine hadn't minded this at first... not until Scorchpaw had started following her, seeming to forget that he was on a hunting patrol. He'd questioned her constantly on her interests- particularly how interested she was in raising kits. More specifically, Scorchpaw wanted to know if Rivershine wanted to raise his kits. She'd been so flustered that she'd bolted from the conversation, hiding herself from the tom during the rest of the patrol. 

Now, though, Scorchpaw was off tending to the elders' ticks, presumably to make up for the lack of any hunting he did on the patrol. The she-cat let out a quiet sigh as she stretched herself out on the cool earth, for once happy to be alone... well, mostly. Hopefully Barkfur would show himself in camp soon! She had so much to talk to him about....

Barkfur’s hunt had been eventful and just as upsetting; most mornings used to find Bark hunting at the IvyMoth border, though he’d slowly let that habit go. With all the strife at that border, it’s hard to imagine there being much prey there, plus there was always the danger of a MothClan patrol finding IvyClan hunters there… particularly when they hunt alone, as Barkfur often does.

Today however he had decided that he should check to there since his hunts hadn’t taken him anywhere near the border in a while. Barkfur ah…. Barkfur is not known for making the best decisions.

Soon, he trots into the camp, a with an annoyed expression and a nice deep cut over his face as a sign of his stupidity. He is carrying a mouse, though; after his tussle with a MothClan warrior at the border, Bark had simply continued his hunt elsewhere, determined to finish the task he set out on.

[Meow]

Rivershine's ears perked at the sound of a cat trotting into camp, and her gaze lifted to see Barkfur as he entered, carrying a mouse in his jaws. For a moment, the she-cat's expression brightened, joyful at her brother's return. As soon as she saw the gash in his face, however, her expression fell, and she felt her pelt prickle as she quickly got to her paws, moving to confront her brother.

"Barkfur," Rivershine called to him, kittybrows furrowing in irritation as she approached. Her sweet voice and nature could often mask the absolute anger in the she-cat's tone, though those who knew her well knew better. Rivershine never took kindly to her brother showing up with injuries. The she-cat came to a halt in front of him, hoping to block his path. "Where did you get that cut on your face? You didn't start another fight, did you?"

Barkfur hides a wince as his sister’s voice, which sounded so pure and innocent yet held a dark tone that clearly spelled his doom, reached his ears. He kept walking, hoping to at least deposit his mouse on the pile before getting his pelt ripped off, but there would be no such luck. As his sister stepped in front of him, Bark stops and drops the mouse on the ground.

“Hi Rivershine. Nice to see you too.” He responds, a sweet, apologetic tone only recognizable to those who know him well. “I actually didn’t start this fight… I just finished it.” Those words likely aren’t going to make Rivershine all that happy, nor is she likely to believe him since he usually is the one to start fights. He is telling the truth this time though, at least on a technicality. He wouldn’t start border fights, but his unfiltered words might cause one.
