Storm pushes her way through the cat door and into the house. For some reason, she felt heavy, sluggish, and clunky. The young cat’s belly had only started to get full, but the not-so-worldly she-cat wasn’t quite sure what it meant. It was, however, becoming noticeable. One of her sisters had called her fat, which was actually why Storm had been out and about today; the comment had upset her, and Storm had decided to get some exercise. Unfortunately, that had only made her tired.

On her way to curl up on a nice, soft kittybed, Storm walks past her mother. The younger cat brushes against her mother’s side, in an affectionate greeting; Storm hopes that Swift doesn’t notice her ‘fat’ belly; her mother was always telling her not to eat too many snacks. Yet here she is. I guess Mom had a point; maybe I should listen to her more often, the rebellious young she-cat thinks bitterly. Not bitter towards her mother, but bitter towards herself for only seeing her own side of things. Little does she know how hard she’s gonna be feeling that here shortly.

Swift had placed herself by a window, fur practically glowing in the warm afternoon sunlight. For the first time ever, Swift had allowed her housefolk to groom her in order to relieve herself of the weight from her dead winter coat, and her fur was softer and glossier than ever. Swift was usually very pretty, but, today, she felt like the most beautiful she-cat in the world. She could almost hardly wait to show Benny how great she looked- as soon as he got done playing with their adult kits for the day, she would certainly flaunt her beauty in front of him. She could just imagine what kinds of compliments he might shower her with! Swift really loved Benny's compliments.

The she-cat had lost herself in her own fantasies by the time Storm slid though the cat door. Swift only sat up when Storm entered the room, her dazed orange eyes turning to take in the sight of her silver daughter as she hurried in, the scent of the outdoors clinging to her pelt. "Oh, welcome back, darling," Swift greeted with a quiet yawn, pushing herself to her paws to brush pelts with her daughter. It was always a delight to see that her daughter had come back home safe and sound- Swift didn't know where her daughter went off to these days, but she'd inherited Benny's thirst for adventure, and she often spent large chunks of the day away from their twoleg den.

As their pelts brushed, however, something about the shape of her daughter made the she-cat stop in her tracks. As Storm continued on to her bed, Swift whirled around, suddenly wide awake as she took in Storm's slightly swollen belly, and the slight heaviness in her gait. Swift... knew that belly. That walk.

Storm hadn't just been exploring the neighborhood when she left the house.

"Storm." Swift's voice was cold as she spoke her daughter's name, her pelt beginning to stand on end. Her orange eyes burned with more intensity than she'd ever expressed for anything else in her entire life

"Who have you been seeing?"

Storm freezes as she hears her mother call her name. The tone of her mother’s voice was cold and when she turned back to Swift, her mother’s eyes were more intense than ever before… she didn’t realize her mom would become so angry by her getting fat. And the question she asked next…. What did Swift mean who was she seeing? “No one! I just went out for a walk; Nora said I was getting fat, so I thought I would get some exercise! I didn’t go next door and get any treats, honest!” Storm answers quickly, nearly stumbling over her words, though she is indeed being truthful. Swift was not to be kept waiting when she was angry, and Storm was not entirely sure what she had done to earn her mother’s ire this time.

“You look beautiful today, mom,” Storm tries a small smile, though her voice is weak and she curls her tail around herself and her belly in an instinctive effort to protect herself and the two kits she doesn’t know she’s harboring. “I haven’t been eating any treats for a week now, trying to lose the weight. You were right; I shouldn’t have been eating so many of them. I’ll remember that from now on.” She addresses the problem again, still believing it is her own unhealthy eating habits that have caused her swollen belly.

Swit stalked closer to her daughter, her tail lashing as Storm seemed to realize that her mother wasn't playing around. Swift almost didn't know what to do with her anger- she wouldn't attack her daughter, of course, but she certainly wanted to strangle her for her naivety. Had Storm not been listening to her at all? Had everything she'd taught her daughter gone over her head? Swift felt her lips curl back as she listened to Storm try to explain herself. Dear StarClan, she didn't even think that something other than treats might be at fault- she hadn't even considered that she might be pregnant!

"Don't try to weasel out of this with compliments!" Swift lashed out against her daughter, practically nose-to-nose with the smaller she-cat. "You're so irresponsible! And naive! You have no idea what's going on, do you?!" Swift wasn't even going to attempt to keep her voice down as she completely lost her temper. "You're not fat, Storm! You're pregnant... with some tom's kits! Did I not teach you to stay away from toms?! Did I not teach you anything, Storm?!" Swift's hissed words only grew colder as she went on, her glistening white teeth bared as she stared Storm down. "I trusted you to be responsible when you were away from home. I trusted you to be safe! But instead you were off mating with some low-life tom! Tell me who did this to you, Storm. Tell me who the father is!"

When Swift got her paws on the tom who did this to her daughter, she was going to rip his throat out like the garbage he was.

Storm listens passively, her ears flattened against her head as she cowers a bit from her mother’s wrath. Any kit of Swift’s knows not to argue if they wish to live another day. As Swift angrily asks if Storm knows what’s happening, the chubby she-cat slightly shakes her head. No, she has no idea what this has devolved into.

The younger she-cat’s eyes widen as her mother declares that she is pregnant. But… that’s not possible, is it? No, no, no, there’s no way that Storm could be pregnant. “No, no, I’m sure I’m just getting fat. I’ll exercise more from now on, and eat less treats.” Storm answers in a shaky voice, still not answering her mother’s question. Though, now that she mentions it, Storm does vaguely recall Swift telling them all that toms could get them pregnant and that toms should be avoided, Solar and Benny being the exceptions…. But still, surely Storm of all cats couldn’t be pregnant. None of the toms she’s been with would want her to be pregnant, after all. She usually never sees any of the toms more than once! So no, it was completely, absolutely impossible that she was pregnant…

Though it would explain the occasional jolts in her belly, almostly like someone was kicking her from the inside…

There is a dawning of realization on Storm’s face, accompanied by a bit of horror; how could she be a mother? She didn’t want to be a mother! She does get around to her mother’s question… sort of. “I-I don’t know!” She’s being truthful. The father could be any one of a number of toms. That beautiful smoky tom with the long silky fur… Or the short-furred, slender tabby tom… Or the ginger tom with the deep amber eyes…

[Meow]

"I think I know the difference between swelling and chub, Storm," Swift hissed, though her frustration was beginning to overtake her anger. No matter how much she pressed Storm, it was clear that her daughter was too young and too ignorant to understand pregnancy. Swift had planned to eventually have that talk with her daughter... when she was more than just a kit herself! Swift thought she'd done a better job of parenting her daughter than this- had she not told Storm to stay away from toms? Her next answer, too, sent a fresh wave of irritation through Swift. Storm didn't know who could be her father. What, had she just been running around with random toms all this time?

Swift let out a growl of frustration as she turned away from her daughter, trying to calm herself down a bit before she tried to strangle her naive child. Sometimes, trying to get information from Storm was like trying to interrogate a rock. "I can't believe this, Storm. I thought you were better than this- you're barely more than a kit yourself! You're too young to raise kits!" Swift closed her eyes as she let out yet another growl, her tail lashing. This was happening. Her daughter was going to have kits... and Swift would have to help raise them. "You're never leaving home again, Storm. You're grounded- forever."

Storm looks like she’s slowly coming to believe what her mother is saying, though she looks a bit horrified at the revelation. She would have to agree with her mother that she has no business raising kits, and she was far too young to even think of having them. And Storm would never ever want kits; she had always wanted to be young and free forever. Now all hopes for that are crashing down around her; her mother’s words about her being grounded don’t even seem to register with her. She was more wrapped in her worries about being pregnant to worry about being grounded. It’s likely she won’t be up for going out much for a while anyways, since she’ll be crying by herself in a corner. Now later on… there will be issues resulting from this lifetime grounding, but for now, Storm is planning on staying right at home anyways.

As it is, Storm is watching her life crumble around her paws. And her mother is yelling at her, so that’s not helping. While she very rarely ever breaks down no matter how angry her mother becomes at her or Benny, Storm just kind of plops down on her chubby stomach, causing one of the kits to angry kick at Storm’s side, and hides her face with a paw as she tries to hide the tears starting to flow into her cheek fluff. Don’t mind her.
