It was a warm morning, the she-cat woke up and stretched her legs. She had been stalling. Life as a warrior was to grand to give up yet here she was.Being rogue born many often question your motives, and your goals. Patrol after Patrol, fight after fight, she stayed. She thought she had proved herself on more than one occasion. Featherclaw almost always took the morning patrol, so it was no surprise when she was up early, however, not today. AS the days went on the long patrols tired her, and yesterday she had struggled to keep up with Eveningblaze, feathercrest, and yewpaw. It was almost an embarrassment. They all told her to go see the medicine cat since it was so unlike her to be tired. She wasn't sick, she knew what was wrong and it had been confirmed by Cedarleap.
The strong willed fighter was expecting kits. She had never been interested in being a mother, she wasn't the motherly type, but would do what she had to. to make the Clan stronger. Her fighting spirit she prayed to Starclan would be passed down into these little puffs of fur. She expected them to be furry, after all, their father was Mothstar. She was a bit concerned that he wouldn't be around much to watch them grow, to watch them become strong...she pushed the thought away She looked at the cat who was standing guard for the night. They seemed aloof that she wasn't with a group.
"No Patrol this morning, just a walk." Her whiskers twitched with amusement as she walked past the guard and into the forest.
Her paws were already starting to ache and she didn't get very far. She sighed in frustration. With all the conflict that had been going on she would be in no shape to do much fighting, but then again adrenaline was a magical thing. She looked, buds were starting to form on trees, flowers were starting to form it was a nice feeling. With all the bad, finally there was a little bit of good. She closed her eyes taking in all the scents, at least she would be back to being a warrior around Leaf-fall, but it was a shame her little bundles would be doing their first fighting moves in snow.
She carried on, her paws hitting taller grass why had she gone this way? The fields were what separated them and Ivyclan. She parted her jaws, and like they had said, fresh markers. She had not gone to the gathering a few moon highs ago. However, she heard all about it from her clan mates. They did say they would be upping their patrols. She flicked her ears, as she heard pawsteps in the distance, it was more than likely the morning patrol that she was normally on yesterday they hit the thunder tracks, so being over this way today made sense.
However, as she was distracted by the scents around her, she didn't take in the scent of danger that was nearby. With New-leaf, large critters were hungry, even the black and white animal that had been lumbering near by. Featherclaw nearly ran into it! She let out a startled hiss before lowering herself to the ground. She had tried to hide in the tall grass, but the creature had already seen her. What could she do? She was in a rock and a hard place right now...eyes wide, normally the she-cat would be diving in, ready to give her life, but now...she took one glance at her belly, she had other lives to think about beside her own.
Dear StarClan save me.... She let out a large battle cry before lunging forward. This fight was different, it was a mother protecting her kits...and she would die trying.
