(River is the one with her eyes fully open, while the one with eyes mostly shut is Star that Guides)
Name: River of Stars (Nicknamed River)
Gender: Female
Age: 125 moons
Sexuality: Bi
Tribe of Ancient Roots
Rank: Elder
Appearance: River has a very light orange pelt of short but thick fur. She is small compared to her tribemates, very much a little old lady. She has an oriental build like most of tribemates, with long legs, a thin and angular head, large ears, and eyes that take up much of her face; her eyes are a swampy green color, but they always hold sharp wit in their depths.
Personality: River is stubborn and set in her ways; once she makes up her mind that something works a certain way, no amount of logic or reason will sway her. She has a kind heart, but her tongue is sharp. She often sounds grump, sometimes even angry, when she doesn’t mean to. Her tone is often misunderstood. She has always spoken bluntly to her peers or to cats younger than her, but now that she’s an elder and her words hold little consequence for her, she is not above questioning any cat she feels like. If she doesn’t believe Firstspeaker is doing a good job, River isn’t afraid to march right up to him/her and let him/her know. If the Tribe of Endless Hunting sends signs that River takes issue with, she’ll curse them out. She doesn’t even care. Even so, her blunt advice is often worth listening to; River has always been extremely smart and old age doesn’t seem to have dulled her wits. She has a sibling, Star that Guides, who she is very close to. As Star was a guard and River was a hunter, they often ended up going together; Star has saved River’s life many a time, and she admires him for it.
Strengths
She is quick witted and very intelligent. She is good at making plans plus her memory is excellent, giving her many moons of experience to draw upon.
She is in relatively good shape for an elder. She can move around without much aching, though she’ll quickly tire herself out if she tries to be very productive.
She could still probably do a bit of hunting (until she gets tired, which is pretty fast) and she could certainly still sneak up on an unsuspecting cat. Stealth had always been her strength, which made her a good hunter.
Weaknesses
As she is old, River doesn’t get much done. While she is far from helpless, doing much work around camp will result in aches and pains the next day. She is in good shape for a cat of her age, though.
While she had been a decent hunter when she was younger, fighting had always been beyond her. Her age had taken what little strength she had in her thin frame.
History: River of Stars has had a long life, though it hasn’t been overly eventful. Well, she would argue with that, but there had been no great things happen in the scheme of things. She was born to a Tribe couple along with 5 other kittens. Two of her siblings died before they became to-bes, one died in training, another died in their prime. Her parents died long ago as well, leaving her and her brother Star that Guides alone in the world. Each loss had stung the pair of siblings, but they had gotten over it together while never faltering in their duties. As Star was a guard, he often accompanied his sister on her hunts, and his fighting prowess saved her once from a dog, another time from a young fox. Many times has he chased away loners from her; River was terrified each and every time, not for herself but for her brother. She was wholly unable to fight and would hinder Star rather than helping him, so she was forced to flee a bit before watching as her only family fought for her. He always made it out alright, and River still loves him to death, even now. His battles had taken a toll on him, however, and now he struggles to get around. River takes it upon herself to look after him now, just like he watched out for her once upon a time. You rarely find them apart for long. There were a couple times, however, when River cast a glance at the tom cats strutting their stuff. She had children with a homeguard, and while they had a couple litters together, her personality eventually ripped the mateship apart. Even so, she loves her kits Sun at Night’s End and Willow that Sways Gently. She was rather old when she had Willow, and the she-kit had been the only survivor from the litter. She doesn’t show much affection, but she loves her kittens all the same.
As for their names, Star and River got their names from the nightsky, of course. Their mother looked up into the sky after giving birth to them and named each sibling after something she saw there. River of Stars is named for what clan cats might call Silverpelt. The thick belt of stars reminded River’s mother of a cascading, flowing river made of stars. Already the kit had shown her feisty nature, and the mother had likened the kit to the Swiftwater which ruthlessly flows without a care for what gets caught up with it.
Family:
Unnamed parents and 4 unnamed siblings.
