Many tail-lengths back, the gathering was beginning. He hoped no-cat had seen the two slip off, but there was no telling, and at this point, he didn't care. If you knew Brighteyes well, you knew that he was not quick to anger. You could spit in his face and he would forgive you. However, when it came to those he loved, they were his weakness. Brighteyes had only known this Mothclan she-cat for less than a moon and he could tell he was deeply in love. Just moments earlier, she was rubbing her head against some tom's shoulder and he felt extremely threatened. Of course, they had never mentioned making anything official, but he at least wanted her to explain herself.

"Who was that?" Brighteyes looked her deep in her eyes. "That tom you were rubbing your head upon? You seemed rather cozy. It's not even that cold, Lambcurl, it's new-leaf." His gaze dropped to his paws, a sad expression on his face.

Ducked behind some nearby trees, just out of sight but still close enough to slip back in hopefully unseen, Lambcurl was listening to Brighteyes with a little confusion. She tilted her head as he spoke, but as she looked at her latest romantic interest, she felt some sympathy. Perhaps she hadn't been very considerate, but she also didn't want to change how she was just for one tom she didn't even share a clan with. Even so, he was certainly her favorite so far.

"Oh, he's just some friend of mine. I know it's not that cold, but it was a little breezy you have to admit," she purred, but realized that it probably wouldn't soothe him much. "C'mon, now. I really do like you," she dipped her head low, crouching to catch his gaze. Rolling over, the curly-coated cat pawed gently at his face, a playful, hopeful look in her eyes.

He was just a friend, he tried to convince himself, but he could not contain his jealousy. "I-I'm sorry for snapping at you." He began, bowing his head. "I just... felt a little jealous. He's your clan-mate, and you share a den, after all. I was jumping to conclusions. Please forgive me." He gave her cheek a gentle lick. "Do you promise I'm yours?" He mused, meeting her gaze to return a loving smile. She was the most precious creature he'd ever met.
