Orange eyes narrowed as he watched the apprentices go out with their mentors to train. He huffed, watching from the medicine cats den. Beetlepaw had just redressed his wounds from the rogue fight. He had missed the gathering, three days ago, and here he was missing other things as well. Certainly everyone would surpass him in the skills he needed. Every day he pestered Beetlepaw when he would be able to join his friends again, and every day he was told it would be awhile, his wounds needed to heal. The tom walked with a slight gait, weasletongue or whoever the mangey rogue was had dug his fangs deep into his leg tearing off fur living him with a limp. It was unknown whether or not it would be permanent. He also had deep flesh wounds across his chest, shoulder, and back. He was very lucky, and he thanked StarClan for that.

Roseblaze and Scarletflight had been there to help carry him back to camp after a blow from Eaglewing left him unconscious. He flicked his tail in annoyance letting out a dramatic groan. Certainly one of the apprentices would be on camp duty or not taking an assessment or SOMETHING. He limped to the medicine cat's den entrance peering around. The Camp was empty. He sighed, laying down, his orange eyes were filled with defeat. Had he just been more careful....he would be out roaming the forest today. He would be battle training just because of those...fox breath, ratpelt bees in their brain rogues. He shouldn't have gone down so easy and he cursed under his breath because of it.

They were certainly not to be messed with, that he would remember. He closed his eyes, digging his claws into the dirt in pure frustration. All he could do was lay around and that wasn't something Mudpaw in particular liked to do. This cannot possibly get any worse..." He grumbled.

The young she-cat's black tail twitched with irritation. Of course she valued the importance of border patrol, but even she would have agreed that, with recent events, more battle training would have been much more important. What use was knowing the location of the borders if she couldn't defend them? Both had to be known, and she already knew the borders by heart. But of course, try telling that to Burningbranch. A good nose was not something Mumblepaw had been blessed with, and the scent-oriented lessons she learned were not always very helpful right upfront. Sighing, she padded into camp, nodding faintly as she passed by the other apprentices out to train. Maybe I should ask her myself.

Icy blue eyes narrowed at the emptiness of the camp. It was always odd to see how barren it looked when there weren't many cats about, but she had quickly grown used to it. The tall walls had stopped being intimidating shortly before she began her training, and now they were a comfort. She couldn't imagine living somewhere closed in like MistClan or so open like MothClan- even better, few other creatures dared to trespass here. IvyClan territory had remained peaceful until somewhat recently- and now? Some gang of flea-bitten no-loyalty free roamers were harassing the forest, but worst of all doing some serious damage as well. She had connected the dots enough to assume that the recent string of murders were all the same cat, and now.... well, now she had help, didn't she? Her eyes flicked to the medicine cat's den. 

She wasn't really close to any of her fellow apprentices, and she still felt stung that this one in particular had seemingly mistaken her for some MothClan cat, but if she was honest, he had been more than brave. She had looked at his wounds when he was brought in, and couldn't help but wonder if she would have survived such an encounter. She hesitated to say yes- there were multiple opponents apparently, each with vicious claws and murderous intent- but saying no just felt wrong. She was an IvyClan apprentice- no codeless rogue was going to kill her.

She considered Mudpaw's situation after giving her paw a few licks and drawing it over her ears a couple times. Confined to one place, any cat could get restless, but someone full of so much get-up-and-go as Mudpaw... "He must be going madder than a trapped rabbit," she murmured. With the other apprentices busy but her own paws free for at least a little while today, she decided that she should visit him at least for a moment. She entered the den to find him much as she expected, his claws out and growling to himself. "I see you've taken to fighting the very ground now, too," she commented, sitting by the entrance. She didn't want to crowd him or anything- she wasn't really sure how to act around sick or injured cats.

Mudpaw curled his lip, retracting his claws. He saw Mumblepaw pad towards him, the she-cat was quiet, and he had mistaken her for a MothClan cat at one of his first gatherings. He looked down in shame for just a moment, he had never apologized to her for that. He had honestly planned on it, but never really had the time. Of course I had the time, I was just a foolish tom a few moons ago.When the she-cat commented about him fighting the ground, he quickly stood up, his eyes bounced with amusement. The large brown tabby chuckled slightly, something he hadn't done in a few days. "Well...I need to practice on something...at least the ground doesn't bite back." He mused slightly.

Quite honestly he was bored just sitting here, not having many cats to talk to, but it is what it is. He probably could have been more tactical in his approach. Instead he just lunged into the fire, after all the rogues didn't belong on his territory. Certainly if he had been more careful he probably could have walked out with less injury. Thinking back on it now, he had been rather foolish but he did what he had to. There were strings of death and conflict, many cats being killed. It was nerve racking they were a strong clan, but an apprentice or a kit who sneaks out of camp, could easily be harmed.


His orange eyes were defeated but while Mumblepaw was here he puffed out his chest. "I never apologized to you...for calling you a MothClan cat goodness that was such an insult..." He mewed. He wasn't particularly fond of MothClan. They seemed to be the know it alls who had ticks in their tails. They were always so...so...Mudpaw couldn't even place his paw on it. All he knew is that they were annoying and IvyClan had clearly been the best that night. "So yeah...sorry...again." He mewed sheepishly.

Mumblepaw's nose twitched slightly- she had to admit, the tom had decent wit. She folded her tail neatly over her paws, settling in more officially now that she felt her presence wasn't unwanted. Amusement lit up his features for a moment, but she noticed his eyes dim back down as he spaced out for just barely a second. Was he thinking about his skirmish? She wasn't really sure how to go about comforting him if he was. Never the less, he puffed back up with that self-certain posture- at lest he wasn't entirely beaten down.

Surprise lit her pale blue eyes up as he offered his apology. She hadn't really expected to receive one, seeing as that had been quite a bit ago, though she'd be lying if she said she hadn't been furious that whole evening. Between being misidentified and dealing with that one awful MothClan apprentice, she hadn't had a very pleasant Gathering. Even so, a late apology was better than none in this case, and she let any remaining spite go as she dipped her head in silent thanks. "Quite alright. I'm aware that I had a rather... persistent MothClan 'friend' clinging to my fur that whole night," she said evenly. Hadn't those two been talking, too? Something about which clan was the best- she wasn't sure why it had even been argument, considering the answer was obviously IvyClan to any cat with a brain in their head. "At least you were on the right side of that whole affair; can you believe that... Otterpaw I think it was? She honestly thinks MothClan is somehow better. The only thing MothClan is better than is a dumpster. Maybe."

He could have bragged about how much stronger he was. He was certain he could take Otterpaw in a shuffle. His tail lashed back and forth thinking about it. Perhaps that would have made the she-cat quiet down. He gave a firm nod, he would have to remember that at the next gathering. He would show otterpaw who was boss next time. He would prove IvyClan was really the best!

"that and their leader had three out of four paws in StarClan." He shook his head with Disdain remembering how MothStar looked at the last gathering. He looked half dead. It was a shame too. "Even if I was dying, I'd never show weakness like that. I'd fight until I can't anymore." Was that statement foolish or honorable? Sometimes it was best to admit defeat. You don't always win the battle, but you can win the war. He nodded, yes had they won that battle against the rogues? Surely, I mean they ran off didn't they? Or so he was told.

He gave his chest a quick lick. He knew it would be a bit before he was at 100% but he wouldn't let that stop him from doing basic things. "How was he at the last gathering did you go? I was obviously sleeping so hard StarClan probably heard me snoring." For the first day or so after the attack, Mudpaw drifted in and out of heavy sleep so his body could heal. "I bet Otterpaw would run in fear at a rogue patrol I was the first one to attack!" Oh he knew he would be rubbing Otterpaws nose in the dirt for that one. He couldn't WAIT for the next gathering.
