Smokystep hadn't changed much from apprentice to warrior. He still took the time to do little things for his clanmates, he still was quiet around new friends, and he still watched his mother's back for her. But now, he wanted to go out into the woods to hunt down feathers. A lot of the kits had left the nursery, but for the ones still left, and for Goldenkit, he wished to grab as many feathers as he good to line their nests. And if he had time, grab some for the elders too. The only issue was, he wasn't an apprentice any longer. He had duties now, technically, and even though he had already gone on dawn patrol early this morning, he should still get back early to see if he was needed for the evening. As lovely as Smokystep was, the one thing he had trouble with was keeping track of time. He would stay out all day and all night without even noticing the sun had gone down, if no one was with him.
So that was the answer, then, grab someone to bring with him.
He glanced around camp. Many of the warriors were on a sunhigh hunting patrol, and their apprentices were with them... His eyes settled on a familiar she-cat. They had been on patrols together, once or twice, but had never really talked to one another. The tom strode forward, golden green eyes flickering brightly against his dark smoky black pelt. He hesitated for a moment, before speaking. Would she even want to come with? It wasn't a border patrol or even a hunting party. Well, not that kind of hunting party.
"Hey, Yewshine.." He hummed quietly, in his attempt to catch her attention. "I wanted to go out on an errand today, but I'm afraid I'll lose track of time while I'm out. Would you mind coming with me? I don't want to miss this evening's patrol." He spoke softly, his voice as smooth as the glassy surface of a lake on a quiet velvety night. That was an ample word to describe Smokystep. He was nighttime.
"Please? We can go hunting afterward, if you'd like."
