Sparrowkit
MothClan | Kit | She-Cat | 5 Moons | Heterosexual
A small brown paw emerged from the cool shadows of the nursery followed by the little fluff known as Sparrowkit. Her stature was that of a young kit, but her maturity revealed that she was nearing her apprenticeship soon despite her small size. The she-kit maneuvered past the exit of the den, built among the rocks and bushes of the MothClan camp, to the edge of the shade cast by the nurseries shadow. Her golden eyes scanned from the edge of the shade to the ground past it exposed to the harsh rays of the green leaf sun. Out in the clearing she spotted something laying in the flattened grass. She pulled a deep breath into her lungs and a soft smile pulled at her pink lips as she exhaled. The long, thin object was small enough for her to handle and she was going to prove to it that it didn’t belong within her clan.
Sparrowkit's fluffy tail flicked behind her as she lowered into a crouch. The she-kit crept forward, revealing her dark pelt as she stepped from the shadows. She moved slowly, gaze set and focused on the unmoving target. The heat sunk into her pelt like she had sunk into the grass, it felt good at the moment but she knew soon it would warm her long pelt past a tolerable range. Now she had a goal, to kill the thing in the clearing before the sun made her uncomfortable. Was she too old imagining and playing such games? Maybe.. She would have new responsibilities as an apprentice soon though and she wanted to enjoy her life as it was now for as long as she could.
Her pace slowed to a still, hind quarters raising with a small wiggle. She let out one last quiet breath as she loaded her weight back. There was a pause before she sprung forward towards her target. It wasn't really a pounce, more like a sprint. Quick prey would have skittered away and outran her, but this object was clearly frozen with fear. "Mrrreooww!" she puffed out as her unsheathed kitten claws sunk into what appeared to be a stray twig. Sparrowkit thought the victory was hers, but as her paws landed on her revealed target it lurched under her pink paw pads. The stick simply moved under her weight, but she still didn't expect it so she'd pretend that it responded on its own. Startled by the twigs movement she immediately bounced backward. In full alert, her back was arched and she angled her small body to make herself appear as big as possible. She puffed out a little hiss as her fluffy fur gained even more volume as it stood up on her back and tail, she'd scare that stick straight.
The kit giggled a little to herself as she relaxed. Pawing at the loose wood until it rolled free of the grass it was in. The warm brown feline lowered herself down and wrapped her paws around the twig, digging her claws into its bark. Her tail lashed behind her as she opened her jaws and chewed at the edge from which the stick was broken off from originally. It had a gnarly flavor and she stuck her tongue out at it. It seems my kill is crow food already, she laughed to herself, paws still tightly hugging the stick.
NOTES: Anyone feel free to come meet Sparrow!
