Blaze had chosen the path of being a healer, with that came great responsibility. The flame colored tom had showed up on time for his training, but with a rather odd request. He had wanted to learn about poisons. Sure there were tons of harmful plants and herbs that could kill just about anyone who consumed them. The gray she-cat huffed before looking about.
"Fine but there is no better way to learn than to practice." She mewed firmly. She knew exactly where she wanted to go. As of lately MothClan had been on high alert so that wouldn't be a good call, but those foolish cats who let their kits be stolen...she still had a bone to pick with them. Using her claws she very carefully plucked petals, dabbed pollen and put full flowers on a large dock leaf before carefully tying it with her paws. She nodded and picked up her stash heading towards IvyClan
She stopped at a pool of water and looked at Blaze. "Do not use your paws use your claws. this stuff is almost impossible to get off and well frankly you don't wanna die do you?" Although Aster was serious there was a snarky tone behind it. She chuckled slightly as she unwrapped her leaf looking at the tom. He wanted to learn about poisons well now he would learn. "This is a tulip" She mewed. She shredded the petals so the bulb of the tulip hit the water "This effects the brain, drooling, can't eat, emotional problems. Highly toxic." She mewed. Next she picked up a smaller flower, one pink one purple before hooking her claws through the petals. "This is Azalea when consumed they won't be able to hold down a meal, it could even put them into a coma...and of course...death." She mewed as the shredded petals fell into the water.
She had brought one more with her. Another pink flower, medium in size she was extra careful with this one as it fell into the water. Nothing was suspicious about pretty flowers but even she...she didn't even dare touch them. "This is Oleander. It will cause their temperature to sky rocket and their heart to race.. all these plants combined create an ultimate toxin...whoever drinks this water WILL die." She mewed. She tossed a dock leaf over to the apprentice before nudging him along. "Pick one more water supply, and keep it off your paws, your parents will have my fur if I drag you back dead." She scolded. She rolled her eyes slightly before heading back in the direction of their home. Hopefully this would teach the clans a lesson.
How could he have been so foolish? His fur was ragged, ungroomed and he reeked of sickness. Every so often what food and water Larkbeat had managed to get into him came back up almost as soon as he consumed it, same with the herbs he was given as well. With green-leafs heat water, not scarce, was still hard to come by, how could they have not scented it? The only thing suspicious about it was a few soaked herbs and leaves, and of course the warriors thought nothing of it when they drank their fill. A lot of their water supplies looked the same, sure it was unusual but... his patrol with Waveflower, Gullroot Tawnyowl, and Nutrain had found water in the tangled roots of trees, a supply they needed, but what good would the water do if...if this is what it did.
His breathing was heavy, raspy, his tired eyes narrowed as he looked over to the other filled nests, he could hear the coughs, smell the vile scents coming from their bodies, this was not how he imagined he would go. He his ears swiveled straining to hear the whispers. Everyone was told to stay out, they didn't know if it was contagious, they didn't know anything. No herbs seemed to be working. Nothing. Whatever they had consumed had ripped through their immune systems. It was the leaves...the plants in the water he knew it...everyone had been eating prey and was fine, but the water...something they so desperately needed!
Hickorynose had whispered "the water...the water" over and over until his voice cracked unable to speak up any further he just prayed to StarClan that no one else got into it. They could do their best, soaking up mossballs taking the water out at least anything that appeared to be contaminated with plants. Even a harmless oak leaf could have been dipped in something dangerous. He coughed harshly, small droplets of blood dropped outside of his nest. He was dying...and the past couple of days had been pure hell for him and his clan mates. Nutrain appeared to be in the best condition, granted even the 'best' was still horrible...perhaps...perhaps he would make it.
"I'm...so...so-sosss...rry...sorry" He managed to wheeze out the words. No he had done nothing wrong. None of them had..he lifted a shaky paw placing it on the nest of Waveflower who seemed to be struggling. His vision blurred for a second and when he came too he heard Waveflower let out a loud shuddered exhale before her flank stopped moving. She was dead. Hickorynose let out a cry, in his mind, begging StarClan to take him. He was surprised that Tawnyowl was still alive, with her old age it was certain that she would have been the first to die...but no she was a fighter. He cracked a weak smile....there was another loud exhale and he looked over and saw Gullroot..his eyes had glazed over.
A warrior so young now walking the path of StarClan. Hickorynose's heart began to race, and he felt his skin burn up, not even feverfew taking it down. He closed his eyes, struggling to take a breath. Everyone around him was dying. He pleaded in his mind for StarClan to just bring him home, he didn't want to fight this anymore. It was too painful, he let out a shriek before his own eyes glossed over he had gone to StarClan.
