Bunnypaw sat in front of the apprentice den, carefully grooming her silver pelt. Her pink tongue was rhythmically flicking across her legs, careful to avoid the patch on her forepaw that was bitten by a rat. 
Note to self. Rats do not want to be your friend. 
She was still feeling a bit sad about that. How had she failed in obtaining friends? She had been perfectly pleasant to that vermin, and it just attacked her! Lucky her mentor was there, or she could have been that rat's afternoon snack. But that did not solve her predicament. Here she was, alone. That rat didn't want to be her friend, so what hope did she have?
Hey Fluff-brain! her subconscious screamed. Darkpaw! Sparrowpaw! They are your denmates now! 
"They are my friends!"
She said this out loud, probably confusing any cat within earshot.

"Hmm? What is it, M'lady?" yawned Darkpaw as the black tom had been dozing off in his nest nearby, his nest close to the entrance as one of the newest apprentices. Lazy green eyes opened to thin slits as he raised his head to face Bunnypaw with a goofy, sleepy smile. Something about her expression made her seem troubled and in response, Darkpaw's blithe features turned more serious.

Getting up to his wide paws, the jet-black apprentice padded over to the silver tabby's side and affectionately pressed his forehead to her shoulder. "Something wrong?" he quizzed in a gentle voice, his emerald orbs roving over her in search of what ailed her. Almost instantly, he locked onto the bite mark adorning Bunnypaw's foreleg. "Hey, hey, are you okay, Bunnypaw? Is this what's bothering you?" Great concern laced his voice as he pushed his face closer to the she-cat, looking to examine her wound more carefully.

The red tom woke up in a daze, he had made his nest next to Cherrypaws. He was excited to be able to train with his best friend! Being able to wander the fields and forests meant finding really neat things! Every day he brought something new back for her to cherish, it was a nice gesture and he liked to see the she-cat happy. He whipped his head around when Bunnypaw yelled something out, she had been very welcoming to all the new apprentices, he had been a bit nervous at first, he thought for sure the older apprentices would be mean, but this was not the case. He stood up arching his back with his tail outstretched making a loud groan as he did so. He swiveled his ears and turned his head so he could see Bunnypaw more clearly instead of just fuzzy nothings. "Is it time to train already? Tansysong didn't come over here did she? Oh boy I'm in so much trouble..." Tansy was an aggressive mentor, always making him run around doing things that he didn't really like, sometimes he wished he had someone else. "Hey Darkpaw wanna trade mentors?" He mused with a twitch of his whiskers

Bunnypaw smiled brightly when she heard her dark furred friend. She nuzzled his head, flicking out her tiny tongue over his forehead. 
"I'm okay," she purred, doing her best to reassure the beautiful tomcat. 
Then, glancing at her leg, she laughed slightly.
"Well, funny story. I sorta learned the hard way that rats do not want to be my friend." she admitted explaining the bite mark. "Fits that my first real 'battle wound' comes from something silly like that."
"Is it time to train already? Tansysong didn't come over here did she? Oh boy I'm in so much trouble..."
She looked up from the beautiful green eyes of her 'mate', mewling a hello to....oh StarClan what is his name. He's the red one....who I totally ship with Cherrypaw....or are they siblings? I should probably figure that out. Wait a second!!!
"Hi Redpaw!"
This is Darkpaw's brother! Which means I totally CAN ship him with Cherrypaw!

The glittering look of worry dissipated as Bunnypaw's gaze met his, her silvery expression glowing with a happy warmth. It made the black tom purr and press his nose deeper into her tabby pelt. "How appropriate! You should've brought me along- I can make friends with anyone!" His laugh was a deep rumble which reverberated through his body, and it was only when he heard his brother's voice that he lifted his head. Unwilling to end his cuddle puddle though, the larger yet younger apprentice draped himself across Bunnypaw's back. "Yo," he greeted Redpaw.

He snickered at his ruddy brother's disdained words. Though he felt for his brother, Darkpaw was sure that Redpaw was unaware that all of Mothclan's mentors seemed harsh this moon. "Don't think you'd want Eveningblaze. His form of training is hurling rocks at you. I wonder if all the mentors in Mothclan are hardened and cold." He took a moment to mull it over before continuing,"I mean, Bellfeather might be nice, but she was Mothstar's apprentice, so I'm sure even she must be strict in some regard. What about Sparrowpaw's mentor, the white one? She seems nice enough." He gave a playful sigh and sunk into Bunnypaw even further, his long tail twitching lazily.

SPARROWPAW

The little brown apprentice had been asleep in the crowded apprentice den as well. Her warm yellow gaze blinking open as she rolled over to spot the commotion that had woken her. Sparrowpaw’s mind slowly woke after her as she recognized the other apprentices chatting. She let out a yawn and gathered her paws beneath her, stretching in her scattered nest. The she-cat planned on remaining quietly in her place, but at her name her ears twitched forward.

The pretty young cat pranced over to the others and chipped in to make her presence known, “Her name is Milkberry and she is nice!” Her voice was soft but confident, her nerves calmer around her friend and the den mates she had made the move to the apprentice den with. Her fluffy fur was a wild mess from sleep, but she had forgotten it. “I hope you guys haven’t had too much trouble with your mentors,” she mewed with a tilt of her head.

Bunnypaw gasped in suprise and worry, staring wide-eyed at the black apprentice.
"Eveningblaze threw rocks at you?! W-why?!"
What purpose could there be to throwing rocks at your apprentice? I guess dodging....but there had to be an easier solution! At least Darkpaw doesn't seem hurt...or too upset. 
Bunnypaw knew in her heart that Darkpaw was a strong and steadfast tomcat, but she could not help but worry. Would Eveningblaze's...unusual training get the better of her usually cheery friend? Would he become strict and grumpy like his mentor?! Would he....not want to be with her anymore? That would break her heart. 
No! I won't let Eveningblaze break him! 
Surely Darkpaw's mentor had to care about SOMETHING?! He couldn't be a grump all the time. 
Well, he did rescue Ruststripe...so maybe he does have a soft spot...
She was so lost in these thoughts that she had not even realized Sparrowpaw had wandered over, or the fact that they had continued on in the conversation, until she caught on to the new voice.
“I hope you guys haven’t had too much trouble with your mentors."
How could Bunnypaw answer? She didn't want to make Rowanfrost sound like a harsh mentor. After all, he hadn't done something like throw rocks.
"I....don't think Rowanfrost likes me....YET!" she emphasized the last word. She WAS going to make her mentor like her, even if it killed her!
Well, maybe not kill me...I like life.

[Miss Tactical]

Redpaw rolled onto his back in a load groan. "The difference between you and me Darkpaw is I have a sharp mind Eveningblaze wouldn't throw rocks at me... Tansysong makes me run...ALL DAY. If I trip it's extra, if I slow down it's extra." He raised his legs in the air, they felt like jello and was greatful he had the day off to let his poor legs rest. He rolled back over to his belly swiveling his ears as Sparrowpaw chirped in about her mentor being nice. He was kind of jealous of her to be honest. He was curious how Cherrypaw's mentor was so far. He gave the she-cat a quick nudge. "How's your mentor?" He asked with a playful twitch of his whiskers. He did find it rather amusing that Darkpaw had rocks tossed at him, and part of him would rather run all day than get hit with a large stone.

With that he let out a soft chuckle pushing himself to his paws. "Jaggedtooth mentioned gathering herbs tomorrow and I am so jumping on that. Anything to avoid...IT" He nodded towards the clearing where he saw Tansysong, Brackenfall and Eveningblaze talking away. Probably trying to figure out new ways to torture the apprentices, or maybe making some crazy rule about not leaving camp. His eyes narrowed slightly contemplating leaving camp anyways. He deserved to go out and explore since he was ran into exhaustion every day. "It doesn't feel like it's going to be too hot today, did you want to go out and do something besides complain about our mentors?" He asked with a cheeky grin.

Darkpaw nodded thoughtfully as the fluffy brown apprentice approached. "Ah yeah, I know that name. She was one of Mothstar's apprentices too. Man, can't a cat catch a break? Be careful, Sparrowpaw," Darkpaw joked with a playful prod at the other she-cat. "She may seem sweet, but don't you remember Mothstar's words about Milk? 'Even the sweetest looking berry can be deadly.' She may turn out to be just as crazy as the rest of them!" It was easy enough for the apprentice to recall- it hand only been a few moons since the she-cat had been named a warrior, and anyone who spent more than an afternoon with rugged Mothclan leader was likely just as batty.

His comments calmed as Redpaw groaned and rolled over. This earned a sympathetic chuckle from Darkpaw and the thick black tom followed suit, flopping over and scooting to lay by his closest littermate. In a woe-is-me sort of tone, he mewled in agreement,"Aye. Sounds like a clever enough trick- can't bark at you for protecting the medicine cat, can they? Mind if I join you? I swear I'll be quiet!" He giggled and poked at his tabby brother, his eyes like sparkling emeralds.

At Redpaw's suggestion, Darkpaw rolled over a bit to look at the other tom sideways and snorted."You kidding? Don't you know that gossiping like a queen is my one true calling? I wouldn't pass it up for the world!" His hearty voice bellowed in a laugh as he torn up some grass in his laughing bout. Glancing through pinched eyes, Darkpaw purred to his mate,"How about it, Bunnypaw? Can you walk on her leg enough to hang out?"

Her golden eyes widened more uncertain now, she hadn’t known the scary leader’s words on her mentor just what Brackenfall had said to her with a kind face. “I- I hope not.” The she gulped and shook the thought out of her mind. She would find out for herself soon enough. Sparrowpaw nodded hopefully to Bunnypaw, “I’m sure Rowanfrost will come around to you.” She assured with a flick of her tail before giggling at the brother’s interaction. Surely if I had to run all day and dodge rocks I’d act that way too, she thought. She wondered if Jaggedtooth would actually want any apprentices tagging along with him, especially with the rouges and war declaration. Maybe the brothers were more skilled than her, but she’d be worried about being a burden.

Yellow orbs narrowing at Redpaws suggestion her whiskers twitched, what did he mean by ‘go out’? He looked a little suspicious but Darkpaw didn’t seem to mind it. Didn’t they need a warriors permission to leave camp? Or were the boys planning on sneaking out so the apprentice gang wouldn’t have to deal with supervision tagging along? Sparrowpaw had never done that before, she felt her heart start to pound even thinking about it. They’d definitely laugh at her if she voiced any concern… I guess I just won’t say anything, if they sneak out I’ve got to go so they don’t call me a scaredy-sparrow. She stood a bit taller to hide her fear, awaiting Bunnypaws response. The anxiety on her face mixed with curiosity and an itch to explore outside of her training with Milkberry.
