Aluminum Foil lay curled on her on in the nest she shared with paper Towel. The sun was well up in the sky. Normally she was up before sunrise out hunting for breakfast by now. But the past couple days she had been sleeping in later and later. And when she did eventually wake and go out to hunt she was slower and grew tired faster. As she woke Alu stood and stretched then gave herself a thorough washing. It was while she was washing her belly that she realized it had grown a great deal. Then ever so suddenly she felt something move inside of her. "What was that?" She jumped startled as it felt like something had hit her from inside. It hadn't hurt her merely caught her by surprise. 

The brown she-cat stood to all four paws and looked down and noticed how her belly sagged. "It couldn't be... could it?" Alu was sure of it now and began to become filled with joy, excitement but most of all, she was filled with love. "PT, PT, where are you?" Alu cried out as she exited their den. "Snippet? Debris? Where are you all?" Alu could barely control the excitement in her voice.

Paper Towel was prancing back towards the dens, a half eaten bag of McDonalds French fries hanging from his mouth. He had silently watched a two-leg munch on them for what seemed like an eternity before they finally got ate their fill, and haphazardly toss them into the alleyway. A satisfied purr rumbled from deep in his chest. In his head, he narrated his epic return. 
Paper Towel, the mighty hunter of French fries, returns to his family, laden with the golden treasures he found. 
He stood outside the dens, setting down his prized 'catch'. But before he could call out to his family, he heard the voice of his beautiful Alu calling out to him. 
"PT, PT, where are you?
With a happy purr, he greeted her, eager to share what he had found. 
"I got the golden fry sticks! We shall feast!"

Snippet was taking her time returning from the marketplace, where she'd managed to snag a fish from a delivery cart, dragging it between her forelegs like a rag. She had to stop every now and then, resting her neck and shooing the occasional crow that tried to follow her. This was her scrap, dangit! At last, she could see the familiar, friendly dull red of the wall around her and her family's alleyway. Clambering up, she tossed the fish overboard with a shake of her head, teetering for balance for a moment as the sound of her name rang out. "Mm? What's the haps?" the fuzzy she-cat meowed, bumping her nose on Paper Towel's side and nodding a greeting to the newly-named Aluminum Foil. "Ooh, golden sticks," Snippet's eyes lit up at PT's own little triumphant announcement, and she presented her catch, too, "Found a big ol' guppy, too."

Aluminum Foil's eyes lit up when Paper Towel showed up with a bag almost full of the golden sticks. They had quickly become one of her favorite twoleg foods. She purred and brushed her muzzle against his. "That is a great find," she opened her jaws to tell him what she had discovered but decided to wait a moment longer for Snippet and Debris. A second later Snippets scent reached her along with the scent of fish. When a fish came flying up and landed a tail length away soon followed by Snippet she gave a huge smile and brushed her fur against Snippets. "Such great finds, I'm sorry I haven't gone out yet but I have a find of my own sort." Alu paused and licked her chest fur then turned to her side so they could see her stomach. "I'm pregnant," she purred excitedly. "Soon there will be a few more little possums running around."

A crinkly thump sounded near the end of the alley, leaving the food wrapper that made it as the only immediate clue to its origin. All it took to track down the cat that dropped it was to tilt one's head back slightly and see Debris perched on the wall, seemingly frozen. Her small eyes were wide, her small ears were pricked, and her small issues with balance were temporarily suspended.

She stayed still for only a few moments before a chain of events unfolded. She gasped and let out a loud, resounding purr. This in turn took her attention from balancing to staring at Aluminum Foil in pure glee, which landed her right next to her food wrapper on the ground. She scrambled to her paws and rushed to her brother and his mate. "Did you just say you're pregnant?" she squeaked.

"Oh, I could squeal like Shattered Glass! Little Paper Towels and little Ced-err- Aluminum Foils running around! Mini Aluminums!"
She leaned closer to the queen's belly as if she could peer inside. "How many kits? What will you call them? Oh!"
Debris's speech once again devolved into a deep purr.

Paper Towel turned around, eyes wide at the sight of his sister dragging a giant fish. Fish and Gold sticks?! They really would have a spectacular feast today! He bumped his nose against Snippet's side, purring in a happy greeting. 
"Such great finds, I'm sorry I haven't gone out yet but I have a find of my own sort."
The tomcat turned, looking at his beautiful mate with a quizzical ear twitch. How had she found something if she had not gone out yet? What could she have found inside their den that he and his sisters had not already gobbled up? 
"I'm pregnant. Soon there will be a few more little possums running around."
Paper Towel stared....and stared. He was frozen in...shock? Confusion? He was not quite sure.... but he was frozen. For a few moments, the alleyway was silent, as if the very town was holding its breath. Slowly, as if to punctuate the silence, a small wrapper drifted down, hitting the ground with a soft crinkle. 
"OmgAluI'msoexcitedyou'regoingtobeamum! I'mgoingtobeadad!  But...Idunnohowtobeadad... Iguessthat
doesn'tmatter! Iwillfigureitout...  Ipromisewewillbethebestparentsever!"
He rubbed himself against the she-cat, purring loudly.
"Oh, I could squeal like Shattered Glass! Little Paper Towels and little Ced-err- Aluminum Foils running around! Mini Aluminums!"
Paper Towel looked up, still purring. 
"Yes!Ohtheyaregoingtobethebestkittensever!"

Meanwhile, Shattered glass was pawing at an empty can, causing it to roll across the cement. 
"Oh, I could squeal like Shattered Glass!"
Hearing her name, the she-cat poked her fuzzy head out from behind the trash-can.
"Your having...kittens?"

Paper Towel just stood there as if frozen while Aluminum Foil waited for a reaction from him. Any kind of reaction good or bad she just wanted something. A food wrapper crinkled into a ball fell from the sky causing her to look up. She spotted Debris hanging on with perfect balance which was the first time she had ever seen her so well balanced. She heard a gasp quickly followed by a purr then she watched as Debris quickly plummeted and landed beside her food wrapper. Alu purred and nodded her head. "That is exactly what I just said Debris." She laughed softly as she leaned against her and asked how many. "I don't know it's hard to tell but a few I think." If only she knew just how big of a litter she was going to be having and how much of a pawful five kits were going to be. But she would love each and every one of her kits equally.

Then all at once, PT began to talk and talk really fast like he did when he was excited or really happy about something. Alu laughed softly at his reaction, it relieved her a great deal to see how excited he was about her being pregnant with their kits. "You will be a great dad you just need to be you and everything will be fine," she purred and nuzzled her mate. "They will certainly be the best kits in all the world and we will all raise them as a family." It would be like their own little close-knit clan."[/b]
