Hunting in the trees ( Open)

Blackbrush and Leafspring loped between tree roots and old logs to a less wooded area of the shaded forest. The two Tom's sat and waited for their fluffy sister to catch up with them, their sleek fur didn't get caught in the underbrush as they raced through the woods and Blazegale's fur prevented her from sprinting.

Eventually the duo grinned as they heard leaves and grass crunch beneath a cats paws. " What took you so long slowpoke?" Blackbrush yowled at his litter mate. Leafspring giggled behind a raised paw as his sister pulled herself out of a clump of ivy. " Ha ha Blackbrush, you know how my fur is ,besides y'all can wait for me to get here the prays not going anywhere" the ginger she-cat hissed amusedly at her sleek tabby brothers.

"Anyways let's get this over with, Leafspring and Blackbrush your goal is to hunt as much prey as you can find, who ever has the most at sundown wins, loser has to cover the winners patrols for half a moon" Blazegale said. Blackbrush smirked and looked at his lanky brother " Thanks for covering my patrols bro" the tom teased. Leafspring chuckled before replying " Well that's a shame for you then when you eat my dust" the tom said.

Blazegale rolled her eyes at their antics and said aloud " When I reach zero you may start, 5... 4... The she-cat started to count down and the brothers crouched down ready to spring into action the moment Blazegale stopped counting." 2... 1... ZERO !!" The she-cat shouted out as her littermates rushed off into the underbrush almost silently.

The ginger she-cat realized almost at once after her brothers departed that she was not alone, the tabby cat turned to face her guest, and greeted them " Hello, you know even though were warriors those two still act like apprentices you know ?" She said.

Badgermask hissed at himself under his breath as he rubbed a paw over his face and sighed blinking the blurriness out of his eyes. It cleared a bit but he knew it wasn't going to be forever. The grey and white tom made his way over towards the forest and sniffed the air; due to his slowly growing lack of silent his other elements like his smell was better than his sight. But he didn't need extra good hearing to know the ruckus was right in front of him.

His clanmates were going all out and in the peaceful and beautiful forest around him it was an unwelcoming sight. He silently padded closer just in time to see the two tabby butts darting away and into the bushes while their sister sat looking amused.

She seemed to finally notice him and he turned his head towards her and looked at her even if she was slightly blurry. He hated the fact he was losing his sight but at least her voice matched the fact she seemed bright and energetic like her fur color.

"It's good not to lose your sense of adventure." he finally spoke up; voice seemingly dull and bored as he looked away and back towards the bushes were the tabby toms left into.

"Or you all might just be as boring as I am." he commented without much heat in his words or self pity.

Badgermask spoke the truth even if he seemed bored and uninterested in the conversation; he seemed tired too if anything and the bright colors blurring his vision and the loud noises he had been hearing started to agitate him and make him grumpy.

(sorry for the late reply i was doing my finals)

Blazegale smiled softly at the older tom, her tail twitching in amusement at his words. The tabby she-cat glanced at the wood that hid her brother's striped pelts. The old and new trees dappled the forest floor in shades of green and brown. the she-cat looked thoughtful as she contemplated the words of the elder warrior " I don't think you're boring, all cats have something that makes them special" Blazegale responded softly with a smile.

The brush crackled as Leafspring pushed his way through the dry undergrowth and the tom winced at the loud noise he was making. The tom had caught two mice and buried them but he had seen Blackbrush race off after burring a vole and squirrel. Leafspring let himself settle into a hunting crouch and lowered his tail as he crept into a small clearing past the thick bushes and trees. The tabby tom spotted a pigeon pecking at the soft ground and grinned.

He slowly crept forward, taking care not to make a sound. The lithe tom rolled his shoulders and tensed his legs, ready to pounce.Leafspring took a quiet breath and sprung forward on his powerful legs reaching out to swat it with his raking claws. The wood pigeon startled and took flight, its wings flapping but Leafspring was faster. The tabby tom dispatched the bird with a lighting fast swipe of his claws and grinned in triumph, the trill of the hunt flowing in his veins.

Leafspring brought the bird back to his pile in the clearing with Blazegale and saw a new cat had joined them an older warrior Badgermask, a black and white tom. With his mouth still full of bird the young tom greeted the warrior with a nod and dropped off his kill.

"LEAF THREE BLACK TWO ,GET YOU'RE GAME ON BLACKBRUSH!" Leafspring shouted at the general direction of his brother.

Badgermask seemed a bit taken back by the friendly gesture and smile the younger she-cat seemed to give him. Granted, he couldn't see too well so it could have had an edge of pity or fakeness to it but by the sound of her voice he didn't picture he having meant it in a fake way so he relaxed a bit and turned to follow her gaze towards the woods although it was still slightly blurry. He wished he was good enough to hunt like other warriors. Younger warriors fresh and bushy tailed out of apprentice-hood. Not to say he was old by any means. He was in his prime but he knew he was older than the others out here.

"Special is one word to put it." he replied with a huffed breath; not glumly just with a resigned sigh that spoke of days upon days of troubled sleep if it didn't already show in his posture.

Badgermask winced slightly at the tom's sudden shout after returning the look and nod to the other male. He didn't like the loud noises and sighed. Such young cats could be so full of energy until his eyesight got too bad for him to do all that he wanted to do.

"I'm glad to see at least someone can go out and hunt of their own choice." he commented with a yawn as Badgermask broke the silence as he tried to study the others.

"Why are you not hunting with them?" he asked turning his head to look at the tabby beside him out of curiosity.

Blazegale chuckled at the older tom and winced at her brothers shout. "Why are you not hunting with them?" the question startled her out of her thoughts and the tabby she-cat looked a little embarrassed. " well i'm judging a competition , my brothers are seeing who can catch the most and the looser has to do the others night patrols for a half moon" the ginger she-cat said sheepishly.  " I didn't want to play so i'm the judge apparently" she laughed nervously. The she-cats fur bristled in embarrassment and she lowered her head to lick her chest , smoothing the fur down. 

Blackbrush growled as his pelt was snagged by the grabbing branches and pulled through them, the branches were pulled back and snapped back to hit him on his rump. The tom whirled back and swiped at the branches with a hiss and his hackles raised in embarrassment. The tom hoped no one was in this part of the forest. Sighing he crouched and slowly made his way through the forest looking for any signs of prey. the tabby tom perked his ears up at the sound of  rustling grass, slowly he crept forward to the sound. Blackbrush smiled as he spotted a squirrel cracking open some acorns and stuffing them in its mouth. Licking his muzzle he carefully picked  his way closer to the squirrel and readied him self to pounce.

Badgermask made a face but it wasn't judging or anything just a raise of his brows in slight interest as he stared into the forest. He understood not wanting to do stuff; but he envied the choice she had at least. He couldn't do stuff because he knew he didn't always have the sight for it.

"That is alright, at least you can enjoy the beautiful day while your brothers decide to be mousebrains." he sighed and gave a long yawn.

He hadn't been able to sleep well in the past few nights and knew he probably should go to the medicine den to maybe see what could be done about it but he had been there far too much as a young kit and apprentice for him to want to go there. He cleared his throat and turned his head slightly towards him.

"Who's winning do you think?" he offered turning to look at the bushes. "At least this is a good way to bring prey back for the clan. make a game out of it and see how much you can catch. Maybe that should be a new way of training apprentices nowadays. It'll be a lot more fun for them to learn too instead of making it a chore or a real lesson." he commented conversationally.
