Everyone wants to feel safe in the dark
Forces unseen pulling strings in your heart

    Crickets chirped in the night air, moths and other nymphs springing out of the way as a lilting hum and two pairs of dancing paws ambled among the trees. The young IvyClan warrior improvised a tune, mimicking whatever creatures around made a sound and mixing it up with fun little melodies on the spot, slowing her pace until she trotted to a stop on the new border her clan shared with RootClan. What an exciting time! Everyone seemed oh so mad about it, but a new clan simply meant more cats to talk to in her book, as long as they were all friendly enough. "Hello?" she mewed curiously across the border, wondering if anyone might happen to be there just now. It seemed unlikely, perhaps, but she was always the optimistic kind.

Halfpetal was out in the cool night air, trying to get some time away from his clan. He was tempted to veer towards the Mistclan border, but they didn't want him, or need him, so why should he waste his time sitting at the border? It wasn't going to happen, and if he did meet a former family member or friend, it would likely end in a fight.

Instead, the large tom made his way towards the Ivyclan border. He was curious to see how they were doing, and Ivyclan also had very pretty territories. Mothclan had the bad end of the deal in his opinion, Mistclan had water, sure, and Rootclan had it's own little strange rock dens, deeper and rougher then the Mistclan home he once lived in.

His paws approached the border, and he closed his eyes to let in a deep breath of air in attempt to clear the angry buzzing in his mind, thoughts that would end poorly if he acted, ideas of revenge and making others suffer ligering. In a different reality, he might have acted. But he didn't want bloodshed, like he saw in the Dark Forest, or saw on himself. He just wanted a friend.

A voice abruptly stopped his thoughts, and his chocolate eyes widened as he peeked towards the border. Was.. was somebody there? Slowly, Halfpetal peeked his head towards the source, wide eyes curiously blinking in the moonlight.

"Er... hello?"

A delighted wiggle started in her tail, rumbling up into a breezy giggle, "Hey!" As she craned her head around to pinpoint the source of her new friend's voice, her eyes went round with surprise as the RootClan cat stepped into the moonlight, his pelt almost black and white in the bright silver glow. "Wow, you're a tall one!" Ripplefoot remarked, flicking her tail as she collected her thoughts. He wasn't just tall, his fur was all odd, too- and... had she seen him before? But, surely not, if he was from RootClan. Anyhow.... she chided herself, examining his face curiously. She couldn't help but notice how melancholy he seemed- he had such an expressive face, but it was all downcast! "Hey, you need to talk? I'm alone, no other cats on patrol," she lowered her voice reflexively, trying to catch his eye with a reassuring look, "You seem a little down, is all. I know talking helps me when I'm upset- Truffletoes is a really good listener, but I can be too."
