Mantisclaw padded on fragile paw-pads through MistClan's cave, longing for the soft grass of MothClan. The fire had taken that away, and much more than that, but Mantisclaw was determined to let everyone know that it hadn't taken away the fighting spirit in the survivors. You couldn't take MothClan out of the cats. While she walked along with her sore paws and her aching chest, though, her large yellow eyes scanned the crowd of unfamiliar cats for a face she knew. She found one, but not the one she was looking for. "Hey, Emberbrook! Have you seen my apprentice? I haven't spoken to him since yesterday."
The older she-cat assured her that she would keep an eye out, but unfortunately didn't know where Sneezepaw had gone. Mantisclaw felt the singed fur on her spine rise. The scorched condition of the hairs there was usually hidden in the fact that it had been black to start with, but when it jumped up like this, the damage was obvious. Forcing it to lie flat again as she caught a few of the odd looks she was getting, the she-cat began to search the camp for the young tom. A little while later, she still hadn't found him, but that didn't mean she had no clue. She'd stumbled across his scent and started to follow it out into the forest, keeping her eyes and ears open for any other traces.
