Buckleap strolled into MistClan's camp, vigorously shaking his paw in an effort to dislodge the burrs that had been stuck to his upper leg the whole morning. After accidentally whacking another clan's cat, and countering the ensuing insult with his own, Buckleap finally sat down in camp and let his body slump until he was lying down. If the leaves and soil stuck to his fur didn't give away where the tom had been all morning, his tired state surely would have. Usually, Buckleap made an effort to avoid the cramped parts of the forest, and stuck to established trails when he did visit, but today he had been training his second apprentice. She needed more education than just chasing rabbits in the meadow, unfortunately.
Buckleap lifted his head onto his paws and looked around the cave. In one corner, a group of MothClan warriors were happily absorbed in their own conversation. Two RootClan cats padded past, cutting off his line of sight. MistClanners were dotted through their home in the spots between the others. Some went about their lives uneasily, while some, like Buckleap, were content with the change of pace. His yellow-green eyes flicked lazily from side to side as cats came and went, until he'd had his fill of rest and stood up to stretch. The tabby's gaze landed suddenly on a familiar cat, slightly bigger and possibly crispier than the last time he saw her, but definitely the same one. He smirked as he crept up behind Ruststripe, then let his face fall into a flat look again. "Well, this is a strange reversal," he meowed in place of a greeting.
