    Ruststripe walked along the trails, followed by her apprentice. She knew that there would not be much prey running here, but the same went for nearly the entire forest. So, this seemed to be as good as any other patch of territory to train her apprentice. If nothing else, it was a spot where she could talk to him away from the other mentors.
    “Okay Featherpaw, tell me a bit about yourself,” she purred, turning around. “I’ve heard you are quite the trouble-maker?”
    She wondered whether or not her own mentor had been told that about her. It was true, of course, but she still wondered. Perhaps that had been why EveningStar paired them together.

He wasn't entirely sure why they'd train alone, but on the other side, Featherpaw kind of liked that; it meant fewer questions and more freedom to do... whatever kind of training there was. As they came to a stop, he was surprised at her question, humming uncertainly as he thought about it. "Umm...," he smiled nervously as she mentioned his reputation, "A little. Mum says I shouldn't lie to people to get what I want, but what if I really, really want it? Or what if it's really important, y'know?" He shuffles his paws but seems proud of his answer, raising his head to meet Ruststripe's eyes. "Wait, why does Eveningstar think you're a troublemaker? You're just a regular grown-up?" Featherpaw's head lilts to one side with a questioning expression. Most of the adults he knew were so... responsible. What made this one different?

    Ruststripe watched as her apprentice considered his response. WOuld he be willing to admit that he was indeed a troublesome kit? Or would he try to hide it?
    "A little. Mum says I shouldn't lie to people to get what I want, but what if I really, really want it? Or what if it's really important, y'know?"
    The striped she-cat smirked, catching the hint of pride in her apprentice’s expression.
    “Well, your mum is right, at least a little bit. Lying is not always your best answer. But there are times that one needs to...bend the truth,” the warrior admitted with a purr.
    “Why does EveningStar think you’re a troublemaker? You’re ust a regular grown-up?”
    This was the question that Ruststripe should have guessed would be coming. Featherpaw was still too young to recall the mischief Ruststripe would get up to. He had no clue of what he had been signed up for with a mentor like Ruststripe.
    “I’ve been known to bend a few rules now and then,” Ruststripe purred, the tip of her bent-tail twitching in amusement. “I don’t like to listen to those who I do not think are in the right.”
    Of course, there was more to it than this. Ruststripe’s personal...history with the leader easily affected his opinion of her as a trouble maker. But Ruststripe was not going to put that onto her apprentice.

Debris hopped happily through the wilderness, her small eyes seeming a little less small than usual. Really it was a fairly ordinary day, blue sky overhead and plants slowly wilting on the ground. The only difference was the slight scorched state of it all, which wasn't particularly pretty. The she-cat herself, however, was a sight to see. Hanging around her neck was a little brown pouch that smelled vaguely of flowers and looked like something a Twoleg might have. Her ears and tail-tip had been damaged by bad frostbite last leaf-bare, giving her a battle-hardened, rough-around-the-edges touch that anyone who actually knew her would find ridiculous to consider. If Debris had ever unsheathed her claws in her life, it was probably in an unsuccessful attempt not to fall off of something.

"Oh, isn't it nifty, Bergamot?" asked Debris in quiet adoration, only to turn around confusedly at the lack of any response. "Where-? Oh!"
The she-cat realized that she'd said goodbye to Bergamot a little while ago. She didn't remember why, too lost in the scenery to give anything more than a distracted nod, but she was sure there must have been a good reason if she'd let the young cat wander off on her own in unfamiliar land. Not that a lot of land was familiar to Debris, given her abysmal navigation skills. Just one of many reasons it's better to stick together!

The she-cat's short ears perked even further at the sight of the territory she walked into. Wait... this was familiar! The reddish she-cat kneaded her paws excitedly into the mostly-dead grass before strolling ahead. She'd met a tom near here once and they'd skated on the ice! What reason was there for something like that not to happen again this time? Well, um... she thought, because there's no ice. Debris's shoulders slumped at the realization, but the look didn't hold onto her long. There were some cats talking over there, around the same ages as her and Bergamot! She'd just go make friends with them instead.

"Let's go say hi t-" she began, then realized once more that her niece wasn't by her side. Letting out a soft purr, similar to a giggle, she skipped along to meet her newest buddies.
