Pumacloud pranced along the thick brush that made the floor of the Syneffo forest so rich in prey... and hard to hunt it. Not that she was one to back down from a challenge! Quite the opposite! She loved the challenge of the thick brush and tangled plants. It honed her skills. Made her senses sharper. Forced her to move faster to catch even a simple mouse, much less a squirrel or bird! It was honestly one of her favorite places to hunt just for that reason.
Usually she came out here alone, as most didn't like hunting here until the prey started running a little scarcer in the easier parts of their territory, but today was different. Today she had asked a fellow she-cat out to hunt and such with her. Twigleaf was her partner for the day, which was fine with Pumacloud. They were fairly close in age so they had grown up together, even though they hadn't spent much time outside of kithood together, Pumacloud wouldn't mind rekindling the friendship with the long furred cat.
After marching to a decent depth of the woods, Pumecloud twirled around, a little less gracefully than she would have preferred as a unnoticed plant tangled her hind leg and caused her to almost fall over, and faced the other cat. "Alright! Since we walked a bit how about we take to some trees to give the ground animals a chance to come out of theri hiding places! Maybe we can get some nice, fat birds even!" She purred as she kicked the plant off of her leg and trotted over to the nearest tree. "How's your climbing? I practice a good bit because I think it's good fun, so I can help ya if you need any. Just let me know! I'm sure you'll be alright though! Come on!"
Without another word, Pumecloud launched herself into the tree, digging her claws deep into the rough bark to keep her balance. She cast a quick glance over her shoulder at Twigleaf before taking another leap upwards. The call of a bird nearby caught her ears and she paused, ears swiveling around to try and locate it. Sadly with one final call, the bird took off and flew out from a tree or two over. "Ah darn, that would have been a good one." She mewed with a soft chuckle. "Seems I picked the wrong tree to start in"
With a quick shrug, she turned slightly and carefully walked along the tree limb to peer around in search of any other birds to catch. She could hear their shuffling and a few soft chips, but they all seemed to be hiding among the new-leaf buds and leaves. "They must have some nests in some other trees. Not as much movement as there is before the nests. That makes them easier to get though if we can find them" Another cautious turn and she moved back towards the trunk of the tree to work her way up a touch higher if she could and Twigleaf felt comfortable with it. Otherwise they could simply relax for a few minutes before getting back down and hunting on the ground.
