[ti]Open[/ti]I Go Where My Paws Take Me, Yet They Always Bring Me Home

Benny was going to be careful today; he knew that if he came home late or injured, Swift would probably rip his pelt right of, as she had nearly done many times before. Yet, Benny would always go right back out to roaming around. The slender tom had often wondered why he didn’t just become a loner, as the Clan cats called them; it would suit him much better than being a pet, but he never could bring himself to leave his twolegs. The two women he lived with had always been just too kind to him, and he loved them too much to ever leave for good. Now, there was certainly no taking that route, as he had a beautiful mate and kittens- though they can barely be called that anymore- back home waiting for him to return each day… and some waited more patiently than others. No, he’s happy enough as a pet and he can never become a loner now, nor does he truly want to.

The spotted tom swiftly dodges out of the way of an oblivious housefolk as his gaze takes in his surroundings. At Swift’s urging, he’d begun to pay more attention to where he was going and how to get back home. It wouldn’t do to keep her waiting while he was lost, now would it?

A monster blows past, causing Benny to shy away. This was a place he didn’t go too often, as he preferred the more natural areas such as the park or along the outskirts of town, yet this was the place that his paws had brought him today. Lovely.

Bluebird was picking at a scrawny mouse she had clamped her paws around. What a miserable little animal- scrawny as it was, it was barely passable as a meal. If she weren't such a snob, she'd be better off digging into the waste bins- there was always the possibility of a rare treat, as her father had often reminded her before coming out with a mouthful of  some sort of fatty bird the twolegs were fond of eating. But Bluebird hated the stink of this place, all the waste, twolegs, and the foul smoky smell of the monsters that passed by. No way was she gonna voluntarily rub it all over herself. 

On the topic of smells, however, her nose picked up a new one- an unfamiliar cat. Craning her head around the paws of the two-legs who sat on the bench she was malingering under, she spotted an admittedly fairly handsome tom with striking stripes. She purred with curiosity- most of the cats in the heart of the town didn't bother to come out here, for various reasons. Abandoning her small morsel, she slipped out into the light, making herself known with a mew of greeting. "Not often I see someone new in these parts- 'specially not a pet," she spoke smoothly, keeping her emotions veiled, though the gentle twitching at the tip of her tail belied her mirth. New cats meant one of two things- information and rumor, or a new cat whose buttons she could learn to press. Both possibilities were equally delicious.
